i had a google of the rules up until a certain age (23) if a club signs a player on his first pro contract they have to pay 'training compensation' to the clubs that developed him from the age of 12 to 21. fifa rules govern cross border signings and the lowest grade of compensation under their guidelines is 10,000 euros per season.

flow got into a wee twitter argument with some journo who commented on the attendance at the ict compared to the hibs game a year previous. apparently there was almost exactly the same amount of well fans at both games. there was about 3900 motherwell fans at the game which was about the same as killie had on saturday.

last year bolton made £38 million from broadcasting. we made £1.5m we need gate money to survive, they don't. you only have to look at our squad on saturday to see that their can't be many savings that could be made at fir park to cover a reduction in gate prices.

it doesn't sound great but it's only about 0.2% of our turnover. using some of the money from the cup run to gain fans seems like a decent investment. you'll be loving the free kids tickets in a few years
