  1. leann dempster said on here that they were staying in tirana. obviously wanting a guaranteed quality international hotel rather than chancing it in the sticks. i don't think it matters anyway. the rhyll town team came straight off an eight hour bus journey and pumped us 3-1.
  2. hammell cleared the ball into the middle of the park from the shy. their fullback ran off sutton, picked up the clearance and skelped it in, hardly hammell's fault.
  3. it is not a bit daft moaning about a match that we all just watched live not being on tv? it was hardly great entertainment for the neutral and i'm sure everyone who wanted to see it saw it.
  4. i'm not ashamed of anything. the actions of a couple of scumbags have nothing to do with me. stuff like this should be highlighted to root out the lowlifes.
  5. i know but it never fails to amaze. in my house 3 of us watched a young and inexperienced motherwell dominate a game in difficult conditions and lose unluckily. at the final whistle the verdict was the lads done well, roll on next thursday. fuck knows what some of the other posters were watching. "embarassing" wtf?

    Can We Do It?

flamutari were brutal and we should be well capable of beating them. we totally dominated possesion in the ifrst half and should be able to do so again next week. it's really up to whether sutton, mcgarry and o'brien (who played well today) can actually creat something. my prediciton 3-1 to the well.
  7. can't see why some people are being so negative. we played ok and dominated most of the game, we just lacked a cutting edge. we should be capable of getting through next week. i also don't understand the problem with hammell's distribution. he hit's a lot of long balls but that's part of the game, the problem is we don't have anyone capable of winning them just now.
  8. we looked by far the better team but we had no cutting edge. two forwards must be the top priority beyond everything else.
  9. fairplay to scott. the poster who seemed to take most offence to the story was on here last friday trying to suggest that it probably wasn't motherwell fans who commited the assualt. i tihink he's got a few deep seated issues about the 'image of our support' and the rest of them are just clowns ready to be annoyed at anything.
  10. definitley sutton with the header. agree with jay, we look comfortable apart from fraser. i'd happily take a nothing each and be confident of beating them at the excellsior. can't really see why forbes is getting so much praise. he looks the part when he's got a bit of time to pick a pass but he cost us the goal against llanelli with a poor touch and let them in this game for a shot in a similar way. he looks awkward under pressure and is totally one footed. the boy has potential but i wouldn't want to play him regularly in the spl just yet.
  11. cannae believe sutton missed that chance. looked like they came close from a couple of corners as well. uefa.com shows page on for saunders, anyone see why?

i think that has something to do with the flow of money from our pockets to theirs. you don't bite the hand that feeds you.

aye. same as the manager, players, chairman, flow, whoever makes the program and the pies and the stewards. this is a site for motherwell fans to discuss motherwell. it should be independent of the club and motherwell fans should be free to give their opinions on all aspects of the club.
  14. it's not unfair. two bams battered an old guy, stories like that always make the tabloids. the sun had a two page spread yesterday about a scrap between two 14 year lassies. the victim also co-opereated with the story so he is obviously quite happy to see it published, surely it's got more to do with him than the sensibilities of some motherwell fans. and as far praising us for behaving well, why should they? just because we didn't stoop to the level of the old scum on their travels doesn't mean we should get a pat on the head. we were down there bevvying and pertying not building an orphanage.
  15. i'd say that the tactical genius of george burley played a part in that as well. telling your strikers to take it easy for half the game isn't the best gameplan.
  16. great. i hope gannon isn't judging the quality of the spl by what he's seen from some of the more footballingly challenged members of our squad. the spl is about on a par with the bottom half of the championship, just signing guys from league two and non league isn't going to be good enough.
  17. either of the two of them would be ideal but i think well out our range. someone along those lines would be great though, a bit of height but mobile as well.
  18. i thought it was decided after roadrunner that players' maws weren't allowed to post?
  19. right no matter what formation we play there will be a lot of times when we're on the back foot and firing the ball up to the striker(s) for them to take the pressure off. mcdonald, porter and clarkson were all excellent at doing that, john sutton as he showed in nancy isn't. we need a guy up front who's going to offer more than scoring one goal every three games and very little else, especially if he's going to have a load of youngsters playing around him. last season in the spl after his wee goal spurt at the start sutton managed five goals (an empty net at ict, one when his marker was off the park against united, a stevie woodsesque screamer against the h**s at ibrox and two tap ins in dead games) and his general play was shocking. in the games that counted he managed two total gifts. he might be a useful player with someone beside him to graft for him but depending on him as a lone striker is a recipe for disaster.
  20. i take that your in depth reading of every fitba forum in the western world doesn't actually leave you much time to actually watch motherwell? 4-2-4, are you ossie ardilles? so we're going to go easter road, tynescastle, pittodrie and tannadice and play with 4 all out attacking players, we'd get murdered. even at the pinnacle of mcghee's attacking football the 4-3-3 was actually a 4-5-1 a lot of the time, with clarkson and mccormack dropping back and even porter taking a turn. this season isn't going to be any different from any other in the spl, we might be able to play good football some of the time but a lot of what we do will be dependent on our ability to scrap and work hard as a team.
  21. if we're playing 1 up front we need a kenny miller type rather than a kris boyd. if you think we'll be succesful next season playing a "penalty box striker" up front on his own you're mad. we'll need someone who can run the channels and hold the ball up, it'll be 4-2-3-1 formation that'll quickly changes to a 4-5-1 when we're under the cosh (which history suggests will be often).
  22. obviously not but he's more likely to be playing in the championship on august 8th than either of the two of them.
  23. we've still got a long way to go in terms of new signings. this boy humphrey is a total shot in the dark and has only scored two goals in his career. add that to o'brien who has one (heavily deflected) and mcgarry who's goal scoring record is abysmal and it's obvious we need more a goal scoring threat. gannon looks determined to play his 4-2-3-1 and right now i'd accept a back four of saunders-craigan-reynolds-hammell on the opening day. lasley and the new guy jennings cover the two in front of them. ahead of that we're struggling, for me mcgarry and sutton aren't capable of playing the roles they had last thursday in the spl. we've signed a right winger which is jim o'brien's best posistion and he doesn't perform as well on the left and you wouldn't want to play slane week in out so soon. for me the pivotal task for gannon is getting quality players in to play through the middle, hopefully JB will give him some cash to bring in a couple of players in the porter/hughes class for these roles. (goes without saying we need a goalie as well)
  24. he might have to transfer the rights on that to ross forbes.
  25. if you include mccormack you might as well include mcdonald, he was 20 when he joined. hibs have probably got the upper hand though with brown, thomson, o'connor, riordan, fletcher and o'connor.
