We had a guy from the Juniors on trial and I think most people would have been fine if we signed him to be around the squad. If we signed him to be a starter then it's a different story. The issue here is that we have seen what Obika offers and it's substandard and Wilkinson has offered nothing so far. If these are our starters it's fair to say we are in bother The boy from Arsenal is the kind of gamble we should be looking for but the guy from St Johnstone is basically saying we have given up trying to bring in anyone decent. Last season we played Partick in a friendly with Morris, Efford and Shields up front. People that actually know a bit about football immediately saw that this was a disaster in the making and it obviously turned out that way because they managed zero goals between the three of them. I've seen people on here defending Jacob Blyth and Sherwin Seedorf despite the fact that it's not just that they weren't good enough for us but weren't even Scottish League Two standard.

Where's the wind up? I'm pointing out to the brown nosers who are already making excuses that we can't sign anyone decent that they are talking pish. We have signed good players in the recent past and if a manager is saying that he can only manage decline in the squad then he's no good to us.

It does seem like Kettlewell has found Robinson's blarney stone and added a bit of LinkedIn patter. It's all self promotion and he obviously knows there's a good chance none of his signings will impress so he's getting his excuses in early.

We should be trying to sign players of the standard of KVV, Moult, Cole, Watt, Long, Lang. Even Curtis Main is better than the guys we are bringing in.

We need to be aiming for the seeded spots. Airdrie, Forfar, Ross County and Kilmarnock are all on max points so far. Airdrie have one game vs Bonnyrigg, Forfar have St Mirren and County and Killie both have two games left. We need two of them drop points plus us getting a better result than Accies and Ayr.

That seems to be the main pathway for good young Scottish players now. It seems like we are producing a better standard of player but barely any of them are going to play in our league.

McKinstry had a very similar Goals+Assists per minute to Spittal last season despite the fact that he came into the team pretty raw to start with. He might have options in England but I would expect St Johnstone or Ross County to take him on since he's obviously got a goal in him at our level.

Playing Obika and Wilkinson together in a league game would be suicidal not just because of how ineffective they are in attack but because it means we can't do any pressing and the opposition can play a high line and swarm our midfield 3. Kettlewell got a televised tactical doing from the Dutch Queens Park manager on Saturday and will need to have a rethink as well as finding better attacking players.
