This is what happens when you give a mediocre player a new contract, they think their good. Miles off the game, caught wrong side for the goal and generally gave the Aberdeen goal scorer the run of the wing. Sorry but he is not a fullback, rampaging up the wing might get the crowd going, but the attempts to get back, slowly slowly slowly!!!.

He was caught out at the goal and would have had a second yellow if Hayes hadn’t hurdled his late lunge early in the second half. Not one of his better games and I’d have been tempted to take him off for O’Donnell.

matt...watt wouldve wanted 4k to stay,  if the reports on his wage at dundee utd are correct

if we start paying one guy much more than rest,  then it would've got out of hand...don't think he was that exceptional that we could him double and more of rest.

Is Liam Kelly not on about £4K a week? Might not be as much as that but I’m sure I read that he was the highest earner by a distance.

Well, that's what happens when you force completely healthy, double vaccinated and boostered NHS staff to sit in the house for a week even with a negative test, just because someone they know has tested positive.

Double vaccinated and boostered NHS staff don’t need to isolate if they are negative. They just need a negative PCR and then daily negative LFT’s to be allowed to attend work.

Edit to avoid confusion: this was in place long before the changes in the last couple of days

The Joint Review Group are telling clubs to prepare for full houses after the winter break.

We are 20 days into the Omicron wave and ******'s tsunami of hospitalisations still hasn't emerged so keeping fans out for longer isn't at all justifiable.

Was it not a tsunami of infections that was said, rather than hospitalisations? If it was I’d say that’s been pretty accurate.

Player have had their pre contracts cancelled due to injuries.

Celtic did it to a Polish player. Martyn Corrigan had apparently made an agreement to move down South before getting injured in his final game of the season and ended up staying at Fir Park. The same thing happened to Richard Brittain  when got injured after signing a pre contract with St Johnstone.

As far as I remember Richard Britain didn’t get injured. He changed his mind about going to St Johnstone and Ross County ended up having to pay compensation to get him out of it.

First 5 matches of the season we conceded 5 goals with (mostly) Mugabi at right back and Carroll at left back.

Last 5 matches of the season we conceded 14 goals with O'Donnell at right back and McGinley at left back.

    What changed?

    The opposition?

I liked the part of the institutional pro-Rangers corruption where they were voted out of the top flight, into the Third Division and Celtic won a quadruple treble.

The vote was whether or not to allow the newco in to the top flight, not to vote anyone out. They then held a vote to get them into the Championship that was rejected and finally bent/ broke the rules to place them in the Third division. Looked pretty corrupt and Pro-Rangers to me.

Perhaps the more pertinent question is - "would it have been re-taken if they had scored"? Surey the rules exist for all penalties, not just ones that are missed.

No, why would the team who scored be penalised because the goalkeeper broke the rules? It is only retaken if the goalkeeper saves it as he is deemed to have gained an advantage by stepping off the line early.

Not disputing that but if you give players like Boyce chances he’ll punish you nine times out of ten. That was only our second league defeat of the season with the other coming against Hibs, two sides who are a level better than us and have players who can punish our mistakes at the back.

We are an improving side as we’ve shown with impressive results against Aberdeen and at Ibrox and as you say we shouldn’t be fearing the likes of Hearts or Hibs when they come to Fir Park and indeed on our day we could well get a result against either. However we will need to work on our defending and chance taking if we are to get such results.

We gifted Hearts 2 goals, one was a penalty and one was a free kick that Kelly should have saved but made a mess of - I don’t see that as mistakes being punished by clinical strikers. The difference today was that Kelly had an uncharacteristically poor 45 minutes that cost us the game. If he did that against any team in this league we’d struggle. We had plenty of the game and the better of the chances from open play so I don’t agree with the chat about Hearts being a level above.
