  1. Fair enough, but what are all their songs about - King Billy's On The Wall, Father's Advice, The Sash, Build My Gallows etc etc etc ? Ireland of course. Are they going home too ? They don't seem to get the irony.

Yeah, but they are not the songs I talked about.

Please don't misinterpret my post to be defending the h**s in general. It started and stopped at the song in question.

Edit --> The team that you support also sing a version of their most famous song.

  2. but the chant about "the famine is over, why don't you fo home" is disgusting. Anyone who has read anything about the tragedy that was the Irish potato famine and who has an ounce of humanity, wouldn't get involved in that kind of thing. Maybe it's all tit for tat nonsense, but I can't understand the mentality of people who take that rubbish into a football match - on any side.

I hate the old firm as much as the next man, but I totally disagree with that, and think that you are misreading the reason behind that little ditty by le h*n.

I take it that it is a direct retaliation to their friends constant yearning for Ireland, particularly the 'this land is our land, blah blah...free derry' shit that they spout out at every game! The h**s are basically telling them to fuck off back to this Ireland that they miss so much then. I dont think the song is glorifying the deaths during the famine as such. However, I am not constantly looking to take offence at things, and the h**s are not the nicest bunch you'll meet, but I do think that that song has been blown massively out of proportion.

  3. it's got nothing to do with man u and everything to do with your winning personality and constant presence on here.

if you were a liverpool fan it'd have been a fuck liverpool thread.

Exactly! The penny has still not dropped with the deluded fool! It was clearly started as a result of TL being a nob that night.....the manure involvement had little to do with the team, but more to rip the pish out of TL --> a ploy that was clearly successful!

  4. if we do bring in more players i'd like us to get a few scottish guys. only three scots in the XI on saturday was a poor show.

Totally agree Steelboy. My only dissappointment of the Gannon era is the lack of Scots featuring. Hopefully this will only be in the short term though, as he integrates our Scottish youngins' into the long term mainstays of the team.

  5. The game is a complete sell out, turned up about half 7 and got turned away by the polis cos we didn't have tickets, none available for either side !

That's shocking! Me and a mate turned up late and got in no problem - bought tickets from the office there as well.

  6. He might be keen to stay but I think Motherwell FC will be less keen to pay a transfer fee.

If the £250,000 figure is true it would be one of the biggest transfer fee's we''ve ever paid and in this financial climate there is no chance of us spending that much. Frankly, in the post Bosman age, when a contract hardly protects a clubs investment it'd be daft for a club like us to pay that sort of money even if we did have it.

Agreed. No way will we pay quarter of a mill on a player!

  7. All the best to the lad and his wife.

A non footballer mate of mine's wife had a miscarriage a couple of years ago. He didn't get a month off work! UNfortunately these things happen regularly, and I think this thread is a bit OTT. All for supporting Hump through this, but jeezo, for a lad to get over a month off work seems more than your average punter!

  8. To be honest, although we seem to have a deal in place to buy Ruddy, I see no way that he will be a Well player next season. We will not spend the amount of dough that it would cost to purchase him (unless he is out of contract in the summer).

  9. Jim O'Brien has improved immensely as a player since he joined the Well. Indeed, he has improved a lot since the end of last season, and should this improvement continue he may well become one of the most important players in our team. At the moment though, he is still quite inconsistent, and does flatter to deceive on a number of occassions; but he does have excellent technique which allied with decent pace means that he is capable of getting the bums of the seats! I for one hope he signs a new contract but cant see it happening.

Slane is one of the most exciting prospects I can remember coming through at the Well, and would be gutted if he didn't resign. He could bag us a couple of million in a few years if he progresses, although if he does sign, I would imagine it would be a 2 year deal so that his options are open again after that period. I fecking despise Jean Marc Bosman!

  10. Not noticed any hostility to Traffic on other threads, just thought his/her post was not relevant, given he/she isn't a motherwell fan.

Not sure that if I joined a manure site and predicted that they would get beaten it would go down that well? Sometimes people ought not to post in threads that are not relevant to them imo. There is an 'other football' thread in the general football section for that.

No offence meant trafficlight, and I'm sure you will note that I have had no beef with you before.

  11. I'll have a pint of what you're drinking, mate. I'd love to see a Motherwell victory against a bigot brother but I think not. It's a very young 'Well side that is only just learning to play together; hardly what you want against the Old Firm. 3-0 Rangers but hoping to be proved badly wrong.

Whatever...... I hope manure get fucked by whoever is playing them in the bestest league in the world ever, it really is so good that it'e better than liga etc. However, I do not feel the need to go to a manure fansite to say it.

    Ps - my sister's mother's cousin's dog's burd is a manure fan, so there!
