Happyhonest Posted August 2 Report Share Posted August 2 With LM about to leave who is the next player from the youth to make their mark? Am not counting Wilson as he is first team. Whyte? Ross? appreciate early days but do you see Askou developing any of these young players? We seem to have a number of players contracts ending in 2026. If we can develop our youth then this may help us both on the park and in the financial health of the club. One thing that did strike me was that he wasn’t around for long at his previous clubs to develop players. I am however impressed with the way he speaks to the media and in his latest clip talking about getting better being a constant goal. There seems to be a few well thought of players, im not sure if they will turn out to be the next Mcfadden/Turnbull/Miller but lets hope so!!!!!!! Throughthelaces Posted August 3 Report Share Posted August 3 I think Wilson's a good lad it's obvious his confidence took a knock last season and he's not been at the levels he was but hopefully he can kick on this season under Askou. I dare say Olly Whites the next academy boy in line for the first team after his stint at cowdenbeath last season. I also think probably doesn't help that we've had a new manager over the summer and might be why we've not seen much so far of him but given time when rotation comes in think he'll play a part this season. Connelly is another one I'd like to see in and around the first team this season thought he handled his league cup games well but would say at present moment he's behind ward and OX and I think the jersey right now should be wards to lose Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
well_said Posted August 3 Report Share Posted August 3 For anyone interested the under 19 league of which our development boys are part of has started and we play Hibernian tomorrow at Dalziel Park with a 2pm kick off.
