Obviously he's not (yet) Started think what makes a motherwell legend. Especialy in the managerial scence. In recent year all our managers have been hopless and left no GOOD lasting impression on the club. In my time the only one i can look back on and say LEGEND is Tommy McLean, due to the scottish cup win and the team that he built. He certainly didn't cover himself in glory last season, but any manager who gets Motherwell playing the way we did in his first season has to be at least as good as bad, IMHO. Got us into Europe twice in a row, Who can disagree with that. My comment was more a generalisation of our recent (within the last 10 years) calibre of managers. not just taking in results or where they finished in the league, but passion for the club and fans and loyalty. Frazzie Posted August 14, 2009 Report Share Posted August 14, 2009 A Motherwell legend, in my opinion, is someone who gives exceptional service to the club, and conducts himself in a way that we'd all like to think we would if we were 'Well players. Craigan is the only one who's close to it at the moment, and before him the most recent ones are Clarkson, Uncle Phil and Faddy. Obviously, the three examples there all left us at a fairly early stage in their career, but I think what makes you know they're close to having legendary status is that if you have ever seen any of them in the street, the first thought you have is 'He's one of ours', rather than 'He plays for Scotland/in the Premiership/whatever'. Nope, he buggered off to some imaginary job in Florida after he led us to the First Div title in 1982, in my opinion cos he wasn't confident enough in his ability to take us into the Premier League. In fact, he ended up as a significant investor in the Tampa team and ended up working there before he joined Gorman at Swindon in the EPL.
