  1. Past hour
  2. I never noticed any specifics that were posted, I was also more interested in the over the top abuse SOD got. As I was trying to think what was said that could be so horrific.
  3. I agree with you mostly. But - when you take a job on as a steward you are expected to deal with certain issues - particularly if you are badged. If a fight breaks out you are expected to deal with it. That's made clear to you during training and when you take the job. Stewards aren't on min wage any more with most companies. I was when I worked with securigroup but thankfully wages are better now I saw someone being chucked out last season at Fir Park for abusing a Motherwell player and then wanting to fight other fans. I completely get it - part of the reason I gave it up was because I was too near to getting my face smashed in - never at Fir Park - at Celtic Park and the Ethiad. There are security supervisors who get paid more to deal with this stuff. I would personally say police need to step in in these kind of situations.
  4. All very valid points of course , and don't disagree I certainly would not want to be a steward getting paid peanuts confronting these people The flip side of the coin though is if it allowed to happen we will see more and more incidents, as people will think it is completely acceptable behaviour
  5. A bucket of sand is the recommended approach, not a face.
  6. Today
  7. Who would make the decision as to what is over the top. A minimum wage steward employed by the club we are visiting ,a policeman, a fellow fan ? Who is going to go into the crowd and do the chucking out ? Are the ejected fans pals who don’t agree with the decision to chuck him out going to stand by quietly and let it happen. Finally with the reintroduction of beer and vodka into grounds imminent i think those in charge of security will have more to worry about than this. Lets face it as being totally unrealistic, unworkable and a daft idea.
  8. To be fair I don't get laughing emojis often so any one received is a bonus 🀣🀣
  9. 1-1 Who knows how the penalty shootout will go this time.
  10. Absolutely agree πŸ’― With regards to the steward getting punched in the face this should not be tolerated whatsoever when someone is trying to do a job
  11. Let's hope they are doing the same thing next May with a beach ball, means we're off on a European tour.
  12. You can read so you see the posts I've made re physical and verbal abuse of stewards , so uou don't need to ask the question.
  13. I’m on the fence regarding the goalie style of play obvious drawback we are all aware of but it does allow us to get more players ahead of the ball. I thought the first half we maintained possession well and there were was hardly a hoof ball played the whole first half. There were some longer passes but they were decent balls where our player was always the favorite to win the ball. Midfielders were showing for the ball making it easier for us to make passes and keep possession. However, second half was very different story. For our level of players I think it’s very hard for them to maintain that for a full 90 mins. Having that focus and mentality goes downhill fast as you start to tire. So between fitness and heat yesterday we just couldn’t maintain the first half control. Sure, we made subs but that didn’t seem to work in maintaining then level of focus and fitness required. While disappointed yesterday I’m confident we will improve and that the manager will be a bit more analytical in his assessment and able to prioritize what needs fixing first. With some new players likely to come in there still cause for optimism. Yours faithfully, Happy Clapper πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
  14. It's the managers that are telling them to do it. One of the current trends in modern football, along with passing out from the back, inverted full backs, and wingbacks instead of wingers. You might not like it, and will be more likely to notice it when mistakes happen, but I guarantee all the modern coaches have Gigabytes of match data showing that less goals are conceded that way, and more attacks are created that way. A few years ago, I saw the guy in charge of data at Liverpool discuss his analysis. He had taken all the available stats from all the available matches to create a map of the pitch. They had calculated the percentage chance of a goal being scored from the starting position of the man with the ball on every square foot of the pitch. They used that during training to focus on getting the ball to highest percentage starting positions as quickly as possible. That's the kind of analysis that goes into the game these days, even at smaller clubs like ours. And the kind of thing JBA means when he says that Danish teams play more modern football than Scottish teams. We can't ask for a more progressive approach to the game and then complain about what that means. Well, we can, but it will hold us back. Today's tactics are significantly different from when I started watching football in the 70's, which is mostly a good thing - although preferring full backs that can attack rather than defend still drives me nuts. Back to this game, I expect more of our new signings to start, and a higher tempo game on our grass.
  15. Anything that crosses the line should be criticised, and assault should be punished.
  16. Well Busta I don't know how many away games you go to but it's the same individuals doing the same stuff and I'm pretty sure the club know exactly who they are but seem quite happy to put up with it. The ball in the crowd yesterday was just good natured fun and personally gave me a good laugh but appreciate others might have found it a bit crass. More concerning is the clean up bill to remove all the graffiti and stickers the club will get next week, the fine for the pyro display and the apology letter to the security company for one of their young stewards getting punched in the face trying to put out the flare. I really love the atmosphere the Bois bring to the game and I would hate to not have them there but they just need to reign it in a bit and realise some of their antics cost the club money.
  17. I'm having a good giggle at the last page or too. What sort of "abuse" are we talking about here? I've just seen it mentioned in the same post as fucking racism. Wild. Pyro, I don't get. It's illegal and they know the risks. Moaning about the stand chucking the ball about is a bit "old man yells at cloud" type stuff.
  18. I'd like to see the " hard cases" who were pushing and shoving the stewards lifted but if there's no police, it probably won't happen We can all be high and mighty about racial abuse but young folk trying to make a few bob don't deserve this, probably get a lot less hassle stewardiing at an oasis gig . I did notice the boy with the knitted mask on, he must've been bloody roasting, his mates will reckon he's a character tho.
  19. I'm not exactly sure how long the league cup groups have been in place now, but surely long enough for fans to recognise the fact the the first game at this time of the season is always a bit of a lottery. There are so many variables in play that won't be in play once the league is up an running. There is usually one, often more, Premiership teams that fail to qualify from their group, and most struggle in a few games. The reasons are obvious: New managers not having time yet to implement new tactics Thinner squads with new recruits not yet signed, or signed during the week and not ready to play Players at different stages in their fitness due to longer breaks after international duty in the summer Players with trivial injuries not being risked New managers trying out different combinations and formations in competitive games for the first time Managers trying to load balance game time across the entire squad And in the case of yesterday, playing on a plastic pitch on a hot day where the home team has kept it as dry as possible to slow down the tempo. The starting line-up in the first game rarely bears any resemblance to the starting line-up that has taken shape in September. This is just a long way to say keep it in perspective, people - the league cup groups have rarely (never) been an indicator, good or bad, of our subsequent league form.
  20. Bit embarrassing all round yesterday - from the team performance (which can at least be mitigated somewhat with the state of the pitch and the heat), to the cretiness behaviour of the 2 guys in the rear of stand having a punch up, to the young teams antics. Certainly not a day to be proud off.
  21. It was a double edged sword. Result wise definitely. Clyde are a middling league 2 side and whilst we have no god given right to beat them we really should be. Having watched the highlights, both goals we conceded were howlers and Clyde could've scored more. Preseason preparation wise it was a definite success. More gametime for the players and JBA got to see the players in competitive action being themselves. A chance too to put across his ideas. League Cup group games are about striking a balance between being competitive and getting gametime. We'll know if JBA got that right, once the group stage is over.
  22. See one of them must be on here dishing out laughing emojis because we dare criticise them. Shows you their level of intelligence and entitlement.
  23. You must have been at opposite side of stand from me where we had the pleasure of an older guy calling him a useless c**t, embarrassing. I don't do away games because I can't be bothered with the antics of some elements and sadly yesterday just proved why I won't be going to another away game. Maybe I am just getting old but it took away a lot of the enjoyment from yesterday. No doubt though the media team will perceive it differently. Again that's just my opinion COYW
