The thing that annoys me most about the Champions League is teams that win their domestic title but have to enter the competition at qualifying rounds. Meanwhile, other teams that finish 2nd or 3rd enter later in the competition. I know the competition has been dead an buried as a proper Cup since the big teams ganged up and decided getting knocked out in a early round wasn't fair to them (or their bank balance), but they could at least have all the Champions qualify automatically and enter at the same stage. I used to really enjoy the European Cup when it was 2-leg straight knock out. as it felt like a genuine competition. Now it's just yet another league that's manufactured to ensure the big teams win and along with even further enrichment. I barely watch any of the games these days.

Same for me, Hearts win to stop Falkirk gaining momentum. If we look after ourselves then hopefully 3 above us might drop points plus old firm play each other next Sunday
-
I agree, if Falkirk win and we win, anything is possible. I see and hear a lot of our fans this season becoming more positive which is brilliant and refreshing from the traditional doom and gloom merchants.
-
My ambitions are more modest. A Hearts win. We won't finish in the top 3.
-
Definitely. Better to dream of catching than worry about being caught.

Some of the absolute sh1te on social media from st Mirren fans (also registered blue tick club page) is utterly pathetic. Such a weirdo club. i hope we go out there and absolutely fkn hump them…. Cmon the Well
-
I agree
-
What do we want from Hearts v Falkirk. Stick or twist? I am going all in for a Falkirk win. The potential of being 7 points behind Hearts with a game in hand would be pretty exciting. Away victories for both Falkirk and Motherwell is a very tough ask right enough.

I think this is what he'll go with. I don't know what to think of Slattery in the left sided midfield role he keeps playing him in he picks up some good areas but his pass selection baffles me at times. I kind of hope to see Nicholson get a run in that role but from the right side as I feel from the very limited amount we've seen of him he looks a very good player it's a shame he's been injured so much.
-
There's a post on our Facebook page that has a link to St Mirren, who are now selling 'additional' digital tickets to Motherwell fans. Mibbe 40 or so remaining.
-
How do you buy tickets for this game?

Next season is the final season of Scotland having 5 in Europe it's the season after it drops to 4. Champions enter CL Play off round 2nd enters - CL QR2 3rd/Cup winners - EL P/O round 4th/3RD if team outside Celtic/Rangers win the cup- EL QR2 5th/4th if team outside Celtic/Rangers win the cup - ECL QR2 Realistically the coefficent is gubbed because This season Celtic couldn't beat Kairat Almaty, Hibs didn't see out win v Legia, Rangers haven't been as good as they normally are in the EL. Aberdeen got a terrible draw in the ECL realistically should have beat Noah but it wouldn't have made much difference and Dundee Utd should have beat Rapid Vienna at a minimum after going 2-0 up. Hearts didn't beat petroclub to advance in conference league last season. Next season we realistically need every team that Qualify for Europe to make it into the group stage and then at least 3/5 to make into the KO rounds of their competitions. I think next season should us, Hearts and Hibs keep our squads together it will probably be the strongest group of teams we've had enter Europe for a while.
-
Were gonna have to settle for winning the cknference league next year to get the co efficient fixed
-
Put this in another topic, so if rangers or celtic win cup, 4th would qualify??

2025-26 might turn out to be a very succesful season for us , no cup wins unfortunatley but depending on how far up the league we finish, what rewards can we look forward to? Just found this article on the BBC, due to the decline in Scottish clubs European results in recent seasons it is getting harder for scottish clubs to progress. How Scotland's European access will change As of final league positions Position 2025-26 2026-27 Champions Champions League PO Champions League 2QR Runners-up Champions League 2QR Conference League 2QR Scottish Cup winners Europa League 3QR Europa League 1QR 3rd place Conference League 2QR Conference League 2QR 4th place Conference League 2QR DNQ

Looking close to a sell out for our allocation.
-
Maybe not the right place to post but looks like 4th will only get euro spot if team above win cup, so unfortunately got to hope one of Glasgow twins win cup....or we finish higher up the league. It's still all to play for
-
Can be both
-
Definitely the team I would go with. But I havent got our starting line up right all season! Thankfully this is the last game of the tough run and we are back to 1 game a week now until the end of the season. If we can get thru this one without any injuries, load management shouldnt be an issue for the remainder and we will see this line up more often (or more likely with Fadinger in it!)
-
The early chances thing is definitely a concern. Me and my mate discussed the very same thing on Sunday. It happened v Kilmarnock, Rangers and Aberdeen. The cup game was slightly different as that was self inflicted. Not sure if its anything to do with our set up / mentality, or if its us trying to get our heads around the different ways teams set up to counter act what we are doing? But its definitely a thing. The good thing is, that afrer the first 10-15 minutes we do seem to settle down and take control of the game. It would be nice not to have to worry about that tonight though!
-
It’s the kind of game where we should be able to bring on Sam, Thor and RCC and expect them to make a positive impact up top if needed.
-
I agree. However, it would be a very tough encounter at the best of times, but I do fear tonight due to tiredness and exhaustion. JT and McGinn, for example, have played almost 3 full games each since a week past Wednesday. Other players like Cooke haven't impressed; Thor is still getting up to speed; and the likes of McGhee and Nicholson aren't fully match fit yet. I guess thats when the manager earns his corn in situations like today. We do have to stop giving up early chances; this is a worrying habit thats developed recently. The midfield also has to get itself sorted out. Due to injuries and suspensions continuity has been affected. Up until the Aberdeen games it seemed to be relatively solid, but then began to look vulnerable. St Mirren aren't a great side but they can grind out results, especially in Paisley. Our away form has been solid but not exceptional. Given that, I think a 1-1 or 0-0 scoreline would be a most acceptable result. Still, the team, but more especially the matchday officials, owe the fans one after Wednesday so who knows?
-
I think he will bud, all our focus is fully on league now. The only change he might do is Cooke for Said but I hope not. Cooke just hasn't impressed me so far but I am not giving up on him
-
This is probably our strongest available starting eleven, and I fully expect JBA to go with it tonight. I’ll be disappointed if he thinks otherwise.
