I think this has a lot to do with it. A lot has to do with who the more influential players want to go on a two week trip with. Cos it won’t be any more than 2 weeks. i hate feeling like this about Scotland but that last tournament put the tin lid on it for me. Apart from the last Denmark game (which we stunk the house out for about 70mins of) we were awful to watch throughout that campaign. I still want to go in hoping we can do ok but I fear the worst…. Again. as for Fletcher, I’m sure the boy will turn out a good player but he’s had 17mins of first team football…. It’s a fkn scandal

For me it doesn't make sense especially when Clarke is very loyal ( ridiculously overloyal to some) I still think its to get Fletcher capped so england cant pinch him but i sometimes think maybe our squad is too cliquey and Clarke being very influenced by senior players

Hope elijah plays and has a great game to put himself in shop window for English teams. Obviously I want him to stay but if chance to get great money then we cant turn it down

We are (I think) the only group to have 2 of the top8 sides in the world rankings...thats incredibly unlucky, and I think the safe money is on Scotland getting fuck all, in the way of points from those 2 games. The Haiti game, our 1st game, will determine whether we have any chance of sneaking into one of the best 3rd placed teams

It's going to be pretty difficult to not qualify for the second round of this World Cup I think. 32 of the 48 teams will be going through, which is almost 70%. If Scotland can't accomplish that? I'd be very surprised.

The choice of Fletcher over Lennon or indeed any of the others with far more first team experience is last straw for me with Clarke and his overall judgement as a manager. Fletcher may turn out to be as good or better than his dad and will have plenty of opportunities to demonstrate this in upcoming campaigns but there can’t be any serious expectation that he will play any part in this WC. Maybe Lennon wouldn’t have either but has at least been involved with squad and (unless has pissed off some senior players - doubtful) would have contributed far more to preparation and training. As it is I can realistically see Scotland finishing in last place either losing all three or a single shitfest point so perhaps Lennon is well out of it. As some others have said my enthusiasm for this WC is at an all time low.
