and what ?? he's been pish since April. What he did before that is immaterial in judging his contribution to the team just now. Christ Jake Hastie was on fire for 3 months, didn't stop him being utter pish.
-
Since his first season in the Scottish Premiership in 2024-25, only Daizen Maeda (30), Lawrence Shankland (27) and Martin Boyle (26) have scored more goals than Motherwell's Tawanda Maswanhise (25)

Yup that is a great point. Apart from kanga how many of our signings were AJ's suggestions? I reckon scouted and then presented to him. JBA defo spotted just and said and they were great. I would like AJ to recognise targets from his 30 months in norway. I really hope he is given that opportunity.
-
Yup Manny definitely said that but to keep it topical .....is he being a faithful...or a traitor! 🤣🤣 just kiddin Manny
-
3-0 tomorrow. Maswanhise to kick on from his goal the other night scoring a brace and the defenders showing some dig and determination for the clean sheet. Kanga to score the third. It's the beginning of the renaissance.

Honest question: in what way have folk on here allowed their dislike of Rangers to override their support of Motherwell?
-
Maybe he doesn't show any more in training than he does on the pitch. Managers can be stubborn buggers, but given the run we're on, you'd imagine he isn't digging his heels in just for the sake of it. Jens persevered with Maswanhise too, presumably because he'd shown he could deliver, while others hadn't.
-
That allowed their obsession and dislike of Celtic to override their support of Motherwell, yes.

St Johnstone v Motherwell 28/10/2026

I actually don't think we get the ball forward quickly, especially when playing out from the back. Just and Ward were like lightning getting forward exploiting the press. We are so fucking slow and laborious in the build up when playing out from the back that the opposition get time to ensure they have every man behind the ball closing down our options. . We do employ the long ball a bit more but 9 times out of ten we lose possession. -
When you consider how many chances Manwanhise has had to shine when playing shite, Thor must wonder why the fuck he doesn't get a longer run in the team
-
"Performances have been persistently good..." mmmm thats over egging the pudding. There has been an improvement in the last two games much beyond that is pushing it.
-
We only need him to be resilient until the January transfer window so we can bring in something better that the current incumbents who are absolutely hopeless on evidence so far..
-
I agree. Also, unless I mis-heard, Manny said in his last presser that he loved the manager. My problem is that I can't understand how poor our defence is. A simple old-fashioned head on the ball on Wednesday and we would be two points better off already. Why can't our defence take responsibility and simply cleat their lines? I think Paul McGinn would make a huge difference in organising and stiffening the defence but worry how resilient he can be at his age.

Interesting to listen to SPH. He is very positive about the influence AJ has had on his game both from a management perspective and a coaching perspective. This is partly why Alfred was brought in. Worth a listen for anybody currently sitting on the fence.
-
Yeah, it would be terrible if there were a Celtic-obsessed moonhowling element in our support, wouldn't it?
-
I think this hits the nail on the head. Last season we controlled games. So we always had safe possession, which in turn didnt leave us as open at the back as we have been this season. So we faced less shots and therefore conceded less goals. The trade off for that, was that we always looked like we were trying to score the perfect goal, and for all our nice play and control, we didnt create as many chances as you would imagine. But we weren't open on the transition. This season, we get the ball forward quicker, we throw more balls in the box and generally create more chances. But the trade off is there for all to see when we lose the ball. Its a conundrum, and Im not sure which I prefer. But Alfred clearly favours what we are currently doing, so I guess we just need to get used to it.

I dont see this board calling time early on Alfred. As a club we tend not to do that. Now that the Well Society are wielding more influence in the board room, I think its even less likely. The fans wanted an identity. We got one and the board have tried to be consistent with that and backed a "philosophy". They wont want to row back on that without giving him every chance. We want to be known as a club who give managers time to turn things around. When you cant pay the most money, job security can overcome that barrier. Re fans not liking AJ, I dont think thats the case either. Some fans just have less patience for poor performances than others and worry about our Premiership status.
-
Is that his name? I thought it was Bob Gama-Boulder 🤪🤪
-
Well all the loyal fans that stand by the club through thick and thin will be there. Even those not happy just now will be there as we all love the club. SIWY

Just looked on the ticket site, a LOT of empty seats tomorrow. Thats worrying, hopefully fans will be active tonight and pre match tomorrow. First decent weather we’ve had on a Saturday in ages as well.
-
A good rousing STAND UP AND SING FOR MOTHERWELL at the start would get the place buzzing and hopefully transfer onto the pitch. Negative vibes doesn't help and just makes players more nervous. A couple of early mazy Said runs gets fans off their seats also

I agree with this - I liked the style of the first few game - probably up to and including Dundee Utd Main concern is that this was a style the team had without any coaching. it may be coincidence that the longer he's had the further we've moved away from it - albeit the last couple of games have some signs of hope offensively.
