Having watched both Rangers and Celtic today, I dont see anything for us to be worried about. Rangers are a bit more solid than Celtic defensively but they look pretty toothless. Celtic have more going forward, but they have been extremely wasteful of late and are wide open at the back. They only won today because Aberdeen played the whole second half with 10 men. Not saying we will win both games or even one of them. But they are not the scarey proposition they used to be. If we turn upnand playbour usual game and dont make any stupid errors we will compete and hold our own with both of them. As for Hearts. Yes they are a good team and are well clear at the top, but they have also failed to beat us twice, so lets give ourselves a little bit of credit!

The only absolute certainty is that we won't get 5.

2 very tough games coming up, but I think potentially at least a draw in one of those games is very possible One comment I saw today from a Rangers fan today saying absolutely scunnered with his team in general, even said thinking of giving up football completly Does sound a bit dramatic of course, onto the other mob and I think if Celtic had lost Wilifred Nancy would have been away before we play them. Happy he is not
-
Absolutely and I will be delighted with 2 points, or 3 or 4 from the next two games. Obviously 6 would be the stuff of dreams but we need to be realistic. The reality is that we will probably get 0.

Reasonable statements and time will tell if correct or not. Rangers Saturday followed by Celtic Tuesday is always going to be tough so maybe we’ll we see how we stack up after those two games. I’m sure both of us are hoping you’re wrong.

The fact that Rangers lost today leaves me even less confident of us getting anything. They very rarely lose two league games in a row and we’ve seen this all too often over the years when one of the OF loses or drops points just before they are due to play us and we get the backlash. We will not beat either Rangers at Ibrox or Celtic at Fir Park. We might scrape a 0-0 in one of them but that will be our lot because we are not physical enough or nearly clinical enough to make it count when it will matter. I’ve heard detractors of this current Hearts side making claims that “they are a team of journeymen” or “a typical McInnes side, big and physical” but they are a well drilled team and being big and physical pays off in this league especially if you have that other critical ingredient that successful teams have…forward players who can score goals. And that is why Hearts are top of the league and deservedly so. Because they are well drilled, play as a team, have players who can mix it up and crucially have players who can score goals when it matters. We are a good side and I am really enjoying watching us this season. But we will always fall short when it really matters for the reasons I mentioned above.

I believe he picked up a bad case of Rosscallachanitus pleased to see Ross manage 4 games with Arbroath this season before injury caught up with him again. Looks like a long term injury again. Kettlewell really could spot them.

He's injured , otherwise known as kettlewell disease.

January is a sellers market. The only players that will move early are the ones that clubs are actively trying to offload, as such we are definitely going to have to overpay. It will be interesting to see how we approach it. We're miles ahead of where we thought we'd be at this point in "the project." One thing to keep an eye on is the fight for places in the world cup squads. Maybe there's some fringe players that could become available as they need guaranteed games to try and force their way into international plans. Would selectors care about performance at motherwell?

Plus he is always injured.
-
Turns out he's not very good. Who knew?
-
What has happened to Shane Blaney ? Not even getting bench time at Livi.
-
Fair enough. Was more or less the point I was trying to make in the post you quoted.
-
Wasn’t specifically a response to your post as there were other comments of us being poor.
-
I would have thought the first line of my post gave context to the rest of it? I never said we had a poor game. I said we were poor for the first 20 minutes, and that was in the context of how our expectations have risen compared to what we have had to experience over the last few seasons. Im not sitting here unhappy with our days work. Quite the contrary.
-
A good defence wins titles!
-
Of course. I think we notice it more when we are having so much possession, but if you watch a Man City game for example, even a beast of a goal machine like Haaland misses his fair share of "easy" chances. I remember when Roberto Baggio broke the transfer fee world record. We played Italy in a World Cup qualifier (at Ibrox) and he was put through clear on goal with enough time to pick his spot. He almost put it out for a shy.
-
He has missed two sitters now
-
Hearts should be at least 4 up.
-
The defence tightening at the right time for our league challenge 😉
-
Even the best strikers miss sitters. Oh dear shankland what a miss.
-
If we adopt a similar approach to the Hibs game, by applying pressure to their defence, we have a chance. That continues to be their weak spot.
-
Without the officials they would be sitting bottom six. Set pieces and officials is all they seem to have. They certainly give up alot of space for teams to exploit.
-
Big laddies but the poorest Rangers team I have seen in my 50+ years. when their full back is the most dangerous player they have you know that they have problems. they are there for the taking.
-
Seems Rangers are a set piece team. Some big laddies in the team.
