What a player the original one was!! Probably a few young ‘uns on here that might not know that name.
- Today
-
Just back would be great but no guarantees he goes straight back into starting xi, said getting better and Charlie cook looking like a great signing once fully match fit
-
JBA made a cryptic comment about some injured players maybe being available for this game, but no other hints given. If Just is fit, that would certainly help.
-
😁 Fair comment......
-
It was certainly a lot busier beside me in the Hunter. If correct, 5700 home fans would back that up. Long may it continue!
-
I think missing, Just, Slattery and Welsh will be too much for us but you never know. We have still been playing some good football and maybe we will have more space going forward that we can exploit. I expect JBA will have us play our normal game so let’s give it a go and see how we do.
-
Sure it said 7100 odds with 1300-1400 away fans (cant remember the exact numbers)but another good home suppprt.
-
To be fair, for Aberdeen to have played 6 league games, scored zero goals, and sit 12th in the league (one place below Rangers) is quite newsworthy.
-
I’m more than happy for the press not to concentrate on us or any of our players.
-
Jba seems a shrewdy so I'm sure stams lack of profiency won't be lost on him..
-
Udinese lost 3-1 earlier away to Sassuolo (thought that was a Phil Collins song!) 🤪 Lennon came on at half time
-
Calum Ward of course. Apologies for the mix up.
-
Was also the first league game of the season to be fair.
-
Do ye mean Calum Ward or Elliot Watt? 🤣🤣🤣

The kick off time yesterday meant I had to run out the door for work the second the game finished, but, after a slightly shite day (for non football reasons) I went out to work in one hell of a good mood 😁 I was impressed by the fact that we probably didn't play as well as we have at times this season, but we kept at it, didn't move a centre half up front and launch it long. We kept playing our game and got the wee bit of luck we deserved with 'Tony' K's goal. The penalty just basically meant we didn't have to suffer the fear during injury time. Brilliant result !! One thing that has slightly irritated me is the fact that all the press reporting over this game has concentrated on Jimmy Thelin rather than the mighty 'Well.
-
Missing Welsh in defence and lacking proper firepower up front means any midfield dominance is unlikely to count, even against a Celtic side that’s not at their best. I’d be very happy with a draw.

I'm not one for believing in luck, but last night tested me. Despite our best efforts we rarely got the break of the ball. In one example, JT was about to go past a defender going after the ball. The defender stumbles and loses his balance; and the ball ricochets off him straight to a colleague. That prevented JT racing in on goal. You couldn't make it up. Hats off to Ibrahim Said. Not the most effective going forward but his defending at set pieces was right out of the Dougie Arnott book of defending. Constantly singled out a big defender; stood on his feet; and wouldn't let him move. I thought Calum Watt had a good game; aided in no small part by Welsh and especially Gordon who took him under their collective wings.

I kinda feel like this system is more vulnerable when teams play 4-3-3 as they can high press our back line with their forwards. Rangers did it and we got in a fankle at times. Don't think it's a coincidence that was the match where we struggled the most at the back and looked least comfortable playing out.

Transformation been great and reception he got from fans when substituted said it all, delighted for him
-
Will be difficult against £25 million rated iheanacho and the Tunisian boy but hopefully we can go with confidence. Welsh unavailable is a massive blow. Maybe put SOD centre half and Johnny K right-back?

numpty started following Celtic v Motherwell 05/10/2025

Positives The win of course, cannae beat injury time winners. Stama scoring and the way the lads celebrated with him. Hopefully that helps his confidence, I am still backing him. The twins Fadinger and Watt in centre midfield, great combination and we aren't missing Miller as much as I feared. Negatives Welsh unavailable next week, what a signing he has been £3.90 for a pie!! Shocking God love her but the wee lassie in east stand who screamed the whole of the 2nd half ( my heid was burstin 🤣🤣)

Gordon was really solid, won everything in the air and looked far more assured with the ball at his feet. Great block at the end to keep us level. Welsh fits this system perfectly. Very good with the ball at his feet and really allows us to play out. SOD has been excellent all season and very good again yesterday. Distribution was a bit off in places first half, but was excellent second half and deserved his standing ovation. Love Said and the chaos he causes the opposition. Once he figures out the final third part he will be immense. MOTM though for me was Elliot Watt. So composed, just bossed the game. His partnership and understanding with Fadinger is excellent. It really is a joy to watch a midfield that can play football. Cant wait for Slattery and Just to be back so we can hand out a few hidings!

This will obviously be our biggest test to date. Be very ineresting to see how our system holds up against that level of opposition. Curious to see how Rodgers approaches the game. Celtic generally like to press high and play the way we do, so the match up could be interesting. Every chance we might lose, but I expect us to go and play our game and give a good account of ourselves. Good chance for JBA to test Celtics weakanesses in the advance of a potential Cup Final! 😉😉😉
