We will now learn a bit more about the character of this squad with regard to how they react to this setback. They have been nothing short of magnificent this season and I have faith that they can collectively bounce back and produce the form they have shown for the past few months. Yeah, as you say, the idea of a trade-off is purely hypothetical. I get why folk are pissed off about the cup exits, but I'm not gonnae let them waste what has - for me - been an amazing season. Today was another absolute pisser, but nothing's over until it's over, so bring on next week.

success in terms of silverware will always be a longshot because as soon as clubs like us get success the manager and players ae taken from us. Ive never been in the camp that we could win the league , you just needed to look at our remaining fixtures before today and we' realistically needed to win 9 of our remaining 10 games. That meant winning at Celtic Park, Tynecastle , Ibrox , Easter Road and Celtic and Hearts at Fir Park , In no world was that EVER going to happen.

I’m just glad we weren’t playing Dunfermline today. Thats a shocker for Aberdeen though, to have the 3rd biggest wages bill in Scotland and getting thumped by a championship team is not acceptable.
