  1. Past hour
  2. Has everyone forgotten that the team under JBA was on the slide since he made an arse of the Scottish Cup game at Pittodrie . He started playing players out of position after that too , due to injuries and we just made Europe on the very last day of the season. As previously mentioned all the good players from that team have been sold and our top striker , indeed the leauges top striker has turned into a dud with no interest in playing or working hard. AJ should be given time to get us going in the right direction .Hopefully the players and the fans go along with him although I thought he looked a bit shell-shocked in post match interview .🤔
  3. Today
  4. For me the biggest doubt derives from steadily getting worse as each week passes and appreciate confidence is part of the issue . July and Aug we had a similar identity - passing , ball retention etc . It’s hard not to correlate the longer the manager has had to get ideas across the worst we’ve become . it’s not obvious what we’re working on in training - put individual errors to the side - in most games we completely lose our shape and teams carve through us for long periods of time - that’s got to be down to training etc and not just individual errors
  5. No you could not. None of us could . I think this is where the majority of my arguments stem from . We completely underestimate as fans how difficult it is to be a football manager, particularly with a team like Motherwell where expectations are high and the budget in relative terms is low. Let's just look at one single variable from last season. The players that AJ has had available to him. Away Ward, Welsh, Slattery, Just, Watt, In other words, the top performing players last season..That is 5 players for a start. Injured McGinn, Koutrombous, Priestman, SOD. Mainstays in last year's team That is 9 players so far. Then we have our friend Maswanhise who has hardly kicked a ball since February.. Remember he was not performing well under JBA either towards the end. Then there is Fadinger who has not been allowed to play in the same way as last season because he does not have the players around him to do so. The names mentioned bring you close Motherwell's best starting 11 last season Longelo and Said apart. This is one single factor of many that Alfred has to manage. To say play SOD at right back and play central defenders in central defence and all will be fixed is simplistic in the extreme. The manager is suffering a perfect storm just now. An inflated expectation of where Motherwell should be in the food chain, players that think they are better than they are because of reasonably brief purple patches last season, significant injuries and on and on and on.......... Look at Dundee..The Dundee fans wanted Presley out this time last season. Look where they are now. We have to be capable of looking beyond the very small timescale of a one month window. I hope the Board have a little more patience than the supports.
  6. I think you are right bud. I think they all have potential but AJ not utilising them properly
  7. Dare I say it? The vast majority of the signings would have been brought in on JBAs watch
  8. Was thinking of all the players we have signed in summer, how many were recommended by AJ. I think Kanga definitely an AJ signing but the rest probably scouted and then I assume AJ has the final say I actually think a lot of our signings will come good. At start of season it was looking good but for some reason has just went all pear-shaped
  9. Mmm? I don’t think you read said previous post correctly and understood the context? You asked what would Ya Bezzer! say about yesterday’s shit show…. Quotation marks
  10. Spot on,we needed to sign a proper right back in the summer and we never and now we're stuck with sparrow an ageing odonnell and johhny k who can't stay fit for any lengthy of time.
  11. I take your point Grizzly but if he did that I doubt we’d have enough left for a 5 a-side team.
  12. Mmm? In a previous post you stated: “Some Motherwell fans really are deplorable individuals. Yet again they are showing just how poisonous and toxic they are. Deserve all they get after causing Graham Alexander to leave and shouting at Kettlewell. Selfish, parochial and spoiled arseholes who are lucky to have a team to support when a wee club like ours really shouldbe looking to merge with Accies, Airdrie and Albion Rovers for the good ofScottish football”
  13. I am very much outspoken defending AJ, the individual errors and cheap goals aren't his fault. Those are basic errors from individual players. What he needs to do though is get players in correct positions and drop the ones we can all see for ourselves that need dropped
  14. What a frustrating afternoon, we saw the good the bad and the ugly (downright shambolic) from this team. I seem to be in the minority now, but I feel for AJ given the crazy individual errors we’re making in nearly every game at the moment. Like a few of us I thought we played reasonably well for most of the 1st half and should have been ahead at the break, despite Paulson madness at the start. 2nd half we take the lead then immediately invite them on to us. O’Donnell horrific for Killies 2nd and 3rd and Sparrow just as bad for the winner. The leagues very tight and we’ve yet to complete the first round of games. I don’t think it’s gone yet, but the next 3 are massive, need 4 points minimum. At least if nothing else O’Donnell will surely take his seat back on the bench for the rest of the season.
  15. He obviously meant after that which was accurate, guy has enough issues without getting pulled up for semantics.
  16. I get that, but was the decision to give him a contract extension the right one in the first place? Its putting a helluva lot of trust in an unknown goalie coming in on loan. Matty isn't the biggest or best in the air and he'll have a lot less defensive protection than he had last year.
  17. The 3rd goal sums up what I have been saying for weeks............Sparrow is not a right-back!
  18. Reflecting on who I'd start for the game and there I've found a huge issue. There are so many gaps, this may be due to how we're set up From who's currently available I thing I'd only have 4 players who are automatically given a game. For Saturday Id be making us a lot more robust. For me I don't think Connelly is a better keeper but I do think he can distribute better. Mcghee to give the defence more protection. I'd wouldn't play with an out an out striker as I don't see Seb offering much In general play. I know the following isn't perfect but I'd go with Connelly JK JKL Moorman Longelo . McGhee Sparrow Fadinger JT Lowry , Said Hopefully Oscar would get some game time.
  19. Alfred says post match that we started the game well? We were a goal down within two minutes with another howler ffs! We are in serious trouble if we persist with this guy.
  20. Defenders shouldn't really have to be told to get first contact, blick shots etc ...sod had a decent spell last year but in general his time at Motherwell has been poor and now hes older. If even one of the 3 defenders had done their job for The 3rd goal , it could've been avoided.
  21. But if we dont give Matty a shot, he shouldn't be there, we could be quite a few points better off with a competent goalie
  22. Stood behind goal with son watching shooting practice, son piped up have you seen maswanhise shooting hes woeful, think he hit net with one out of seven shots, the rest of players not much better.
  23. He’s had enough time already. And in that time he’s overseen our cup exit and a consistent decline in the league. What next? Relegation. Not true. Football is a fickle business. You and I could do a better job than Alfred.
  24. Just watched the highlights and dear god, that defending is truly schoolboy stuff. Paulsen sets the tone with his weekly howler and we let every long ball from them bounce on the edge of our box. I could see from only 5 minutes that O'Donnell has probably had one of if not his worst game for us since signing. I wasn't there yesterday but caught the score at 1-2 and thought great it's Killie and we'll hold out. Not to be. The players genuinely don't look like they know what they're meant to be doing but that's no excuse for the persistent individual brain farts. Confidence is low and the body language from some on the pitch is alarming.
