  1. Today
  2. Top 6 if we find a striker. 7th if we don't
  3. From a German fan who came over for the game
  4. Yesterday
  5. Watched the Hearts v Aberdeen game tonight. Despite having both spent a bit of money, I didnt see anything to fear. Hearts will do better as they have Shankland being played in his correct position. Aberdeen look as if they will struggle for goals. If we can get the 2/3 quality bodies in that JBA wants my expectations for the season ahead might get raised a little.....
  6. Exactly this. Although it's early days for teams, and I don't usually start judging them until a few weeks after the window closes. However, most seasons there are only small margins between 7 or 8 of us, so I'm hoping our new approach will give us the edge to climb a few places. Absolutely no doubt we will have a few disasters along the way, but we could well hand out one or two gubbings too. It certainly won't be boring.
  7. I’ve resigned myself to the prospect of an up and down season. I agree we could be capable of turning over some teams if we click but we are also more than capable of losing calamity style when it doesn’t click. it’ll be interesting regardless but having watched all the SPFL games this weekend there’s nothing there to fear really. Quite a lot of bang average sides.
  8. Not definitely saying we are top 6 , but definitely think there is a very good chance of this More performances like we had on Saturday will have us higher up the league. It's all ifs buts and maybes so early on
  9. 6th with the current squad or 4th if we can find a goal scorer
  10. 12th with us only winning 3 games and drawing 6 with a negative goal difference of -79 Hold on.....MJC has hacked my account 🤪🤪🤪
  11. Ross MacLean playing for Forfar these days.
  12. I'm going for 5th. Easily achievable.
  13. 2nd. Remember, you heard it here first.
  14. Long long way to go but very encouraging after Saturday. I reckon one place up for grabs in top 6 so that should be our aim but we need more players in. Balmer must be right out of favour if SOD comes on at centre half ahead of him. We need 2 central defenders and another striker. Saturday a totally different test so be interesting how we adapt.
  15. Thanks for clarifying the no age limit for Solidarity. That's the bit I was not so sure about. That quote you posted confirms the situation. Transfers have to be Cross Border transfer though. So Derby to Chelsea or Napoli to Juventus down the line would not benefit us. Unless the Home Association involved has adopted the Solidarity Scheme developed by UEFA etc. Generally the two aspects of the compensation scheme help. Often more so for the initial training fee up front. But the 5% Solidarity payment thereafter can really amount to very little unless the transfer fee runs into tens of million. Especially if the player was not with his parent Club from age 12 to age 21. MJ was only with us from 12 to 19 so we won't even get the full 5%. I think that % should be upped to reflect the higher add on % that is common when transfer terms are agreed by the clubs involved. But UEFA etc refuse to consider increasing it....or the training fee calculation.....as they feel to do so might hinder the transfer of young players.
  16. I shall go 8th but a very entertaining 8th along the way! Top 6 and we might not be keeping our manager for that long cause it would have been a season and a half!
  17. Agree, the lager is already well watered down.....allegedly.
  18. If he moves while under contract, we are due a small piece of the fee regardless of any sell-ons agreed. "Any time a player is transferred while they are under contract, then a solidarity fee is paid to all clubs that trained the player between his 12th and 23rd birthdays at a proportional rate depending on how long the player was at each club." What I hadn't realised is that they continue throughout the players' career. "Solidarity payments do not stop at the player’s 23rd birthday (like the training compensation payments do) but continue through the course of the player’s professional career each time he is transferred while under contract." So as long a fee is paid while they are under contract, even if they are 40 years old, we still receive our cut. Apparently 5% of the transfer fee is used for the distributions.
  19. I have no idea if there was any sell on clause or not, either way if there was or its compensation related the club might still earn some more cash. They could use it to put some cover in at Mrs Baillies to stop the lager getting wet.
  20. Perhaps I am wrong but I thought he just left with no deal agreed between the Clubs. Same as Cadden years ago. Contract expired. That’s how the media reported it at the time anyway. Correct me if you find out differently. So we would only have gotten Training Compensation up front which was quoted as between £250k or £300k depending upon which report you believe. And then we would be due an additional Solidarity Fee from any subsequent cross border transfer up to (I think) age 23. Based on years developed from ages 12 to 21. So we get rewarded for developing him for only 7 years as he left us age 19. The calculation of our ‘windfall’ using my limited arithmetic. Based on £1.4m . 7/9 of 5% of £1.4m. So a miserly £55k. 5% is the amount automatically deducted from the transfer fee for sharing amongst the Clubs that develop a player. Derby might be more money and a route to bigger things in England. But sadly even if he then moved for gazillions to Chelsea, we would be due nothing as that transfer would not be cross border. Better for us if SG tell Derby to bugger off and then sell him to an Italian Club for the £3m they want. (£120k for the good guys). After a year he can then get that huge transfer to Chelsea or Liverpool. We then get rewarded twice. Wishful thinking I know! I hope that all makes sense.
  21. Agreed. Would be a real step back for him. Maybe not financially, but football wise he should manage his career upwards.
  22. Derby would be a slightly strange move - from League Titles and Champions League football in Austria to a Championship side that avoided relegation by 1 point last season.
  23. £1.4 million allegedly, its been rejected by Sturm Graz. According to various bits of online chatter there are a few clubs interested in him, I hope we had a sell on clause in the deal when he left us.
  24. Max J is subject of a bid by Derby County
