Nah, Fight Club, mate. Maybe we can make it a mantra to chant after every clean sheet.
-
Seems like a smart loan signing and great example of where we may be getting reputation for players to shine and establish career.
-
Sorry but is that not what i said - or are you correcting my grammar?
-
So all the Ross McCrorie stories were off the mark. His credentials seem decent.
-
His name is Alex Paulsen.

I checked just to confirm Yes, UEFA officially abolished the "cup-tied" rule in 2018, allowing newly transferred players to represent their new clubs in European competitions even if they played for another team in the same season. [1, 2, 3, 4] Under this regulation, clubs are permitted to register a maximum of three new eligible players without any restrictions regarding their previous European appearances during that campaign. This applies across UEFA club competitions, including the Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League I didnt realise it was that long ago.

Alex Paulsen on loan from Bournemouth. 24 year old New Zealander.

That’s good to know, possibly why the clubs relaxed about the up coming games as they expect - barring injuries - to be able to have Just, Watt, Maswanhise and Longello all available for a few weeks more. They’ve possibly also agreed not to play them in the friendlies we’ve had so far.
-
….. and any of our players contemplating A move to a “bigger” club also in the conference, they don’t have to worry about being cup tied as I believe they done away with that rule in Europe compretitions
-
Correct. But for some reason, it feels like we might be sleepwalking into them half-cocked.
-
We’ve seen what happens before when we just get bodies in to make up numbers. first hurdle is getting by the Faroes team. So even if we don’t get players in, as Long as we have our “top” Players still available we should have enough to get by that.
-
I think only players registered by this Thursday can take part in our first two Conference ties. So I am hoping to see a few incoming very soon. Especially if the number currently injured is as high as seems to be the case. I get that some are not too fussed about those Euro games but I take the opposite view. Win the tie and the players and fans will be on a high and the feel good vibe within Fir Park will return. Lose and the pressure builds on players and Manager for and the trip to Easter Road. Won't take much for the doom and gloom to return to the Stands. So, yes, these two games are important and not just for the financial boost. We need to put ourselves in a position to progress.

I get that Stu and agree there's no need to panic. However we already know that we're short of a keeper after Ward departed and there's a big hole in central defence due to departures and injuries.
-
I’m never relaxed about Motherwell at the start of any season but I always try to be realistic so my view this season is New manager with a tough act to follow, so I’ll be looking to give him at least the first round of league fixtures before panicking unless it’s obvious the players can’t play his system / the system is flawed / he’s lost the dressing room and he refuses to adjust. The third option would be as much on the players as the manager. We will need to see who actually leaves before signing new players, it might be that of those expected to leave no one agrees to pay the club’s valuation of at least one of then and as such some might have to stay until January at least which would help with the European games and the start of the league while any new players settle in - I get that this might upset the player/players involved but if they continue to develop then January could see them leaving where as if they take the huff and go backwards then they could lose the chance of a decent move. Bottom line no need for panicking

We could be waiting for confirmed money comming in from player sales before signing up new faces. Selling three players could increase the budget by a lot. It may be a cautious approach but may make financial sense to the board, so far we have only sold a goalie for 800k not transfer busting money. Also any targets could be waiting until we have the projected millions in before final financial agreements are made . If we are flush targets could be promised or expect better terms. Onwards and upwards board has done well so far , I trust its under control, well sort of under control.

Interesting to see where HB are...currently 5th in their season, played 16, before playing us they come off a run of 3 wins, scoring 11 goals and conceding 2. Their last game was 5/7 with a break before they play us and then getting back to league action. I have to disagree about losing being terminal for Alfred. The whole Alexander thing was on the cards the end of the season before, Sligo defeat triggered that, plus his arrogance never helped. Fingers cross we get some signings in and HB really aren't that good. Jury will be out until the first 10 games so see how Alfred's doing for me.

I wasn’t thinking like this a week or two ago, but the negativity has started to creep in because of the lack of signings, the pre-season starting XIs, and reports of yet more injuries adding to our ever-increasing list of crocks and duds. If we go out of the UCL to HB without so much as a whimper, I’d say it’s game over for AJ before the league season has even started. It might not be entirely his fault, but the buck will stop with him. A defeat like that would be terminal, just as it was for Alexander after Sligo. That said, a busy week in the transfer market, both in and out, could quickly change the mood. The concern is that, even if it does, it’ll still leave little time for AJ to get his preferred XI ready for next Thursday.

Yes our pre season does seem a bit chaotic doesn't it, despite being told previously everything was in hand, or words to that effect. Certainly no-one could predict our most recent and disruptive injuries. I just wonder what has happened to our recruitment. As I've written before you'd think that we'd have have identified our targets at least 6 months ago and been working on them. They may have been reshaped a little by long term injuries to McGinn and Hendry, but again they would have been known quite some time ago. The usual caveat, of course, applies. New signings do take time and not all targets come to fruition. No doubt we have had to work our way down lists as some opt for better offers elsewhere. The only conclusion I can come to though, is that AJ has either changed that list and has asked ND to rework it or has put a hold on it until he's fully assessed the current squad, such as he has been able to do given the recent spate of injuries. Our pre season friendlies don't seem to have gone well in terms of injuries, getting a settled team, results and possibly morale. Game time in some legs, many young, though. I agree about Matty Connelly. A decent guy by all accounts and home grown but I don't see him as being anything other than emergency cover or back up. I'm a bit more relaxed about Europe than some but we can't take the HB games for granted and they won't be a walkover. I'd be looking for a 3-0 lead from Fir Park as the away tie could be tricky. As Handsome Devil wrote on P & B the ties could be season defining like Sligo if things go belly up. As it turns out, the Faroese football league is on a 4 week break just now so that might just work in our favour. However if we can't progress against the Harbour Football Club then serious questions will have to be asked about our preparation.

I’ve seen about half a dozen “rate SPL new kits” stuff online and in almost every one the Motherwell kit is No1. other folk don’t seem to see what we see….. maybe we are all wrong and it’s a belter lol i still thinks it’s fine in a sort of meh way….

I like it would be a great away kit for MFc
