Bit embarrassing all round yesterday - from the team performance (which can at least be mitigated somewhat with the state of the pitch and the heat), to the cretiness behaviour of the 2 guys in the rear of stand having a punch up, to the young teams antics. Certainly not a day to be proud off.
-
It was a double edged sword. Result wise definitely. Clyde are a middling league 2 side and whilst we have no god given right to beat them we really should be. Having watched the highlights, both goals we conceded were howlers and Clyde could've scored more. Preseason preparation wise it was a definite success. More gametime for the players and JBA got to see the players in competitive action being themselves. A chance too to put across his ideas. League Cup group games are about striking a balance between being competitive and getting gametime. We'll know if JBA got that right, once the group stage is over.

See one of them must be on here dishing out laughing emojis because we dare criticise them. Shows you their level of intelligence and entitlement.

You must have been at opposite side of stand from me where we had the pleasure of an older guy calling him a useless c**t, embarrassing. I don't do away games because I can't be bothered with the antics of some elements and sadly yesterday just proved why I won't be going to another away game. Maybe I am just getting old but it took away a lot of the enjoyment from yesterday. No doubt though the media team will perceive it differently. Again that's just my opinion COYW
-
I agree its one of my pet hates, keepers thinking they are midfielders, Liam Kelly was guilty of that quite often when he was at Fir park, it's simple to resolve JBA just tells Oxborough and Ward dont do it, unless they are actually trying to clear the ball.
-
Can't say I heard any abuse directed at SOD from where I was sitting but I would be in favour of ejecting people if the abuse is overstepping the mark There is a difference between giving stick and being disappointed with a performance, and being downright abusive
-
I agree completely. The stuff he gets is embarrassing. Heβs been a target from day 1 of a certain element of our fans. Even when he was playing well. In 50yrs of going to games Iβve seen it all before unfortunately.
-
I actually stopped going to away games last season because of all the shit happening and I didn't see anything yesterday that would make me want to change my mind. We have some right cretins in our support and I'm more and more starting to see why Bob Park gave up the ghost and walked.
-
This is where I'm at. There's a difference of being frustrated v's downright abusive. Appreciate not in the same ballpark but was chatting to my friend who supports York City - Salford team walked off the part following racial abuse last week and the match was abandoned. Someone has since been arrested. The more the game has a hard line about behaviour the better behaved people are likely to become.
-
Chucking people out will show everyone else where the line is and remind them not to cross it.
-
Do uou really think yesterday was a debacle? I thought first half we played some nice stuff at times Sule, Watt , Fadinger all looked decent
-
As I've already mentioned there are some crackers in the support who seem to come to the fore in away games but if we Start lobbing people out for being " abusive" , it's going to be a select few left.
-
Agreed. As encouraging as some of our business felt last week, the spine of the team is obviously key to success and ours needs addressing. JBA did hint that he has to be patient in trying to acquire some of the players he wants. I think we will be pursuing a quality centre half, midfielder and possibly a goalkeeper. Striker probably depends on the perceived robustness of Stama.
-
Like others, I think SOD's best days are definitely behind him and he's back up, at best. However he's an honest professional and a good ambassador for the club and doesn't deserve the type of abuse he received yesterday.
-
Understandably, after the frenetic pace of last week's arrivals, and yesterday's debacle in the sun, there's been more talk of the need for additional arrivals. Thats to be expected. However, JBA may also wish to loan out or mutual a few players he doesn't fancy to balance numbers. An interesting few weeks ahead.
-
Completely agree - you'd think SOD was some form of evil who some how has convinced several managers to play him in a whole bunch of positions simply to sabotage and ensure we lose. He's a local guy who like us all has flaws and clearly gives his best. It's about time the modern game exits anyone from the crowd for being abusive .
-
Manager needs to rethink the goalie being 40 yards from his goal. That cost us today and other clubs will be watching. Oh and imagine the melt down if it had been SOD who gave the ball away for the goal.
-
There was a time when we could bring in players from the English Championship or good level players from Rangers and Celtic. Those days are gone. That makes finding a strong spine much harder than it used to be and the likleyhood is any good player brought in is leaving after a season. If we'd kept all our good players over say, the last five seasons, we'd have a pretty good team. But the financial reality in 2025 is it's very, very difficult for a club our size to build a side that's got any quality.
-
SOD didn't have a good game but some of the shouts aimed at him are just ridiculous. The guy wears the jersey like every other player and tries his best. With a fully fit squad I wouldn't have him in starting xi
-
Agreed, that was Alex Fergusons approach in every team he built, a solid spine in the team as you mentioned with the keeper and CH the priority. Craig Brown done it when he took over, made us difficult to beat and built a decent team that took us to Europe.
-
All these reasonable comments on here, so where do all the bunkernuts come from?
-
I've never really rated sod but it's not nice to see the guy getting it tight week In week out. The fans aren't not known for their patience, here's hoping new guy will stick to his guns re style of play.
-
We donβt know that heβs not making it a priority. Heβs said himself the windowβs open for almost two more months and that we should expect more movement.
-
It'll be a lot cooler and played on a decent pitch so that takes away some of the reasons/excuses from Saturday. Askou has said he'll be utilising the whole squad and treating these games as 'competitive pre-season' so I think we will see changes. Could be an opportunity to play some younger players, especially if we can take the lead. At this stage in the season you can't expect a well oiled machine, it's more about getting into the knock stages, so it's result over performances for me.
