  1. Past hour
  2. Cracking player but he deserves panning, I remember todd cantwell doing similar to him a few years ago. Should have more respect for fellow pros especially when cruising.
  3. No chance was he the most negative,Kettlewell and GA?? .Cooper and Russell couldn't manage a tackle between them but cracking attacking players, he did what he had to do at the time
  4. Today
  5. On the plus side, those games give us the chance to directly affect where we finish. If we manage to take full points from the next 2 games, our season may well be entirely in our own hands. One thing's for sure - nobody will be looking forward to playing us right now.
  6. Its a tough call as Priestman has been excellent also
  7. I had him in The sweep on the central branch supporters club bus that day.
  8. Thought this was discussed previously and it was said he’s on a 1 year rolling contract - would be very happy to be proven wrong.
  9. Last night's great result reminded me of a game I attended in September 1966 at the old Love Street ground, when we thrashed the Buddies 5-0, with Bobby Campbell scoring all 5. Deja Vu.
  10. We have to be consistent to call out this form of cheating, for thats what it is. Slattery's behaviour last night was a particularly bad example, but our club needs to call it out without fear or favour, and whats more, do it in public irrespective of who the player is or who they play for. Should we go a step further, and if its our own player, suspend them for a game or whatever? But, if we simply highlight the actions of our own players they'll feel singled out and picked on. A danger though, is that if we take unilateral action, other clubs, managers and players will laugh up their sleeves at us and continue to practice this particular dark art. As I said, it needs strong consistent action from the SFA.
  11. "Everybody else is doing it" might be a fine excuse for a 12 year old, but not a grown man. We should single out Slattery because he's our player and needs to be told to cut it out. Telling other team's players to cut it out isn't as effective. I wouldn't make a big deal of it, but I would be telling him it's unacceptable, and to get focus back on his assists and his shooting, where he is most effective.
  12. Yesterday
  13. Agreed, San. Its a stick on red every day of the week. I recall Martyn Corrigan being yellow carded at East End Park for trying to trip a Dunfermline player. No contact was made, and the player didn't fall. The correct decision last night was a red card for King and a yellow for Slattery. Richard Tait, rightly won a foul at Easter Road but was then booked for simulation. Slattery's reaction was 100% wrong but we see this very same play acting week in week out. Other instances of it in last night's game. Much of it at the behest of managers...there I've said it. It needs dealt with by the authorities but we mustn't single out Slattery. He wasn't the first and he certainly won't be the last. Every example in every game needs called out. Incidentally, not all managers are as honest as JBA.
  14. happy days then I think it would be harsh to drop Slattery given he got what 2 or 3 assists in the last game.
  15. Fadinger was 2 game suspension i thought so would be available snd I would bring him in for Slattery
  16. Realistically even looking ahead 9 of our last 11 games are against the T6. We've W3 D6 L3 against those teams so far I think for us to win the league we'd have to win 10 out the last 11 games and going of our record against those teams that doesn't look particularly likely hence the reason going out the cup was so gutting as that was our real chance for a trophy. Anyway team for Dundee Utd for me would be the same 1 that started the St Mirren game. It will be the last game of Fadinger's suspension so that's a positive.
  17. Tommy McLean did a fantastic job at Fir Park. He was very much "of his time" and had to build his team over a period of several seasons as was the norm in those days. He built from the back and made us hard to beat and competitive which were the foundations of our success. I would contend that we improved as a team nearly every season and that has to be seen as a marked success for a club of our size. The fact that he didn't go on to bigger and better things after he left Fir Park can perhaps be put down to a number of factors. Times were changing and he was unwilling or unable to change his managerial style to accommodate these changes. He was also just a very "good fit" for Motherwell at that time. A true case of the right an being in the right place at the right time. I will always be grateful for his service to the club. As for now, one game at a time.
  18. I remember Craig Patersons career was finished because he asked for £50 a week more. I don’t think Tommy played him again. I always remember thinking he didn’t deserve that. ive no doubt there was penny pinching and tough budgets but he did manage to broker himself a good pay deal when he left us for hearts Anyway, he’ll still go down… even with me… as a real legend of the club.
  19. I'm biased, I knew Tomtom really well from working there, he was under extremely tight budgets, FP had been neglected/homered/patched with sellotape for years and required massive investment and running repairs, pennies mattered, the contracts of the players he 'fell out' with were based on 'we are cup winners' Tommy's answer was 'so?' Would have been interesting to see what he would have done with Phil's transfer had he stayed.
  20. No one has ever said 'well said' to me before 🙂
  21. Does “we” mean “I” 😉 im not convinced he did move on from mistakes. We suffered years of negative performances and then we had a couple of really good seasons, mostly sparked by the genius of Cooper. He then tore apart a good cup winning team because he fell out with them and then buggered off to Hearts who he almost relegated. He also failed at Dundee Utd I just think our views of him are clouded because of the cup win. But….. that day is still one of the best of my life so I still love the pig headed wee guy.
  22. We control our destiny to get second place by winning games and maintaining better GD than rangers. We play hearts twice but trail by 7 points so we do need Hearts to drop an additional point outside of us beating them twice, in order to win the league. as demonstrated by today any team is capable of dropping points so the thought of Motherwell winning the league may be described as us being in dreamland but it certainly not the impossible dream. COYW!!!
  23. Are you well_said..........are you well_said........are you well_said in disguise....🤣🤣
  24. You say negative, we say pragmatic, didn't suffer fools and moved on from his mistakes PDQ
  25. Utd were in the cup final that year and a different proposition to this team no?
