True, but we have 3 fit left backs, and JK and SOD that can cover there when needed, so you have to think at least one will end up being surplus to requirements. I'm not complaining, as we have struggled to fill that position in recent years.
-
Falkirk players have been practising there Slattery's. Constantly falling down.
-
They dont have a clue what clear and obvious is. VAR always looking to chop goals off.
-
Apparently our officials juat can’t grasp the whole VAR thing. I thought it hit his arm but couldn’t be 100% sure so goal should have stood. Likewise if ref had called handball on the field then that call should also have stood. do not overturn referee calls on the field unless you can 100% show that he was wrong.
-
Sule has been awful which has made me happy
-
First half of that sentence is doing a lot of heavy lifting there, particularly given McGinn is out for a while and one is Jordan McGhee..
-
VAR guessing and now ask referee to decide. Its either hand ball or not. Either way tv angles are inconclusive. Ref guesses and goal cancelled. Some things never change. Not one St Mirren player claimed hand ball. Mental.
-
Falkirk have been very poor but equalise on the back of a free kick cross. Oh here comes VAR...
-
Wilson or Longelo are the two who could move on i would have thought. We need more experience in midfield and a proper number 9. A creative wide pacey player would also be handy.
-
Falkirks pitch is going to cause problems for passing teams. Very slow and sticky. Sule missed 2 sitters.
-
I’m also watching it and agree with your assessment of the game. shouldnt be afraid of either of these teams
- Today
-
If we get 1 point from this game and get out of Edinburgh without any injuries, I’ll be delighted. Currently watching Falkirk v st Mirren and it’s absolutely dross.
-
The one that drives me mad is “out of Pocket”, they use it when they won’t be available or gone for a few days, not when it’s costing them money.
-
This will be very hard game. Unlike us they have kept most of their best players and manager and do not need major rebuild. They played some good football Thursday. Would take a draw.
-
When everyone is fit, I think we have about 10 first team defenders right now. If we are bringing in more, then one or two must be on their way out.
-
Has anyone sussed out any watering holes on day of game . . Also anyone know what ticket allocation theve given us
-
Fair point at the end but let’s hope that one poor season, whether it be this one or one down the road, doesn’t make us jump back to the eye bleeding good old Scottish fitba we’ve seen these past few years. We have to keep on the track we have now chosen because, as you stated, it makes success more likely
-
Tactically it looks like AJ plans to start two on the left side who can support each other in pushing forward, with Longelo and Williams the pairing that best fits that set up. Despite the promise of his early career, Wilson has not progressed either offensively or defensively. He should be moved on. That's the same Wilson who struggled to get a game in the Championship last season and who clearly still cannot last a full 90 minutes. If the sale of our major assets continues (contrary to what we were promised) and Longelo does ship out, then we would be relying on Wilson to slot in unless we bring in a direct Longelo replacement. Hardly ideal as we need to finalise our first choice starting eleven sooner rather than later.

The word "identity" gets bandied about so much in football it has become almost meaningless. However, we obviously have a clear plan for our style of play and what we want to achieve. That makes things so much easier when it comes to recruitment, and easier for the players who are already here and don't have to learn a new system every summer. Continuity is so important in football, and helps create that "identity" It doesn't guarantee success, of course, but i makes it more likely.

Havnar Bóltfelag vs Motherwell (30/7) Discussion

Apologies! I figured everyone would know that puddings were intended to be eaten. Having been to America recently, they dont appear to be strangers to the concept! 😆😆😆 -
Why will we have to rely on him? I thought Dylan Williams is a left back.
-
Only if "they" are Americans who don't know the actual saying is "the proof of the pudding is in the eating" (Sorry, that one drives me nuts every time I hear it over here).

Really impressed with the managers thought process re squad building. He is his own man and will tweak things eventually. But right now while the squad is in flux, keeping things the same until the squad is settled and on the same page makes perfect sense. Once the squad is complete and up to speed, we can develop things in his image then. Having the continuity of the same coaching staff obviously helps that. If that was a strategic choice made by the club, then just another decision they have got right.

start the season in the same manner we ended last season (without the sending off) 1 - 2 to to the good guys.
