Im just sad there isnt a metric for unecessary passes & dribbles! 😆

Also interesting he's listed as a Forward
-
Cheers for that. Interesting to see Longelo has an xG of 2.55. Not bad for a defender.
-
Thanks. Spot on. That's the one I was thinking of.
-
I'm sure the game you're talking about was RC away, start of the season behind closed doors and the game was on sky sports. We lost and Liam Donnelly missed a pen. Don't know how or why I remember that so well 😂 Had to google the last bit and it was Calum Lang who got sent off that day.

Motherwell v Dundee United 29/10/2023
FirParkCornerExile replied to SteelmaninOZ's topic in Club Chat
If our defence and keeper are not on their toes no, United are pretty decent in and around the box and score goals but defensively they concede as many as we do. This is one I think could go either way. Truth be told I'd just be happy not to into the semi on the back of 3 defeats out of 4. So I'll take a win or a draw. -

Would love to see it reinstated. It wouldn't take long to eradicate that tactic.
-
Cannot remember the game but pretty sure we had a player sent off for stopping a breakaway even though the tackle was in our half. Away to St Mirren, St J or Dundee maybe. And not that many seasons ago.
-
On the subject of recalling loan players, we’ve just recalled Matty Connelly as apparently Ox has picked up an injury.

That’s true we never seem to get that slice of luck that others have got when it comes to finals and avoiding one of the Old Firm Saying that though of the list of winners you mentioned there a good few of them had to face and of course beat one of them on the way to their cup wins. St.Johnstone knocked out Rangers in the QF in 2021, ICT beat Celtic in the Semis, Dundee Utd beat Rangers in the Quarters of the Scottish Cup and St.Mirren defeated Celtic in the League Cup semis in the year they won it against Hearts in the final. A lot of our exits over the years have tended to come against non OF sides and indeed many of them have been against utter dross who we really should have beaten. The year Dundee Utd won the Scottish cup against Ross County (2010) we whimpered out against a then lower league ICT in the first hurdle. When St.Johnstone won the 2014 Scottish Cup we were embarrassed by Albion fucking Rovers in the 4th Round. And even when St.Mirren won the League Cup in 2013, while we did lose to Rangers in the 3rd Round, they were Rangers in name only, literally, as they had just reformed as a new club and playing in the lowest tier and we shat the bed despite us being unbeaten and top of the league at the time we played them. They say you need luck to win a Cup and that is true, but you need to make your own luck too and we really haven’t helped ourselves over the years.

Imagine winning a final against either of them though? I can’t think of anything better.

League Cup Semi Motherwell v St Mirren 1/11/2025
FirParkCornerExile replied to grizzlyg's topic in Club Chat
What always pisses me off is whenever we get to a final it's the OF waiting on us (1991 excluding) Since we last won in 1991. There have been winners who didn't face the OF. Winners: Scottish Cup: Hearts faced Grena , St Johnstone faced Hibs, ICT faced Falkirk, Dundee Utd faced Ross County, Kilmarnock faced Falkirk. League Cup: Livingston faced Hibs, Hibs faced Kilmarnock , St Mirren faced Hearts, Aberdeen faced ICT. If we get to the final it will be my 6th and we will have faced the OF in 5 of them. -
Hearts have previous for choking on a title challenge, one of the ugly sisters will win the league as usual. No reason why we cant take both cups though 😀
-
I’d take that. I’d even let them have a League and Scottish Cup double if you could guarantee us winning the League Cup and getting our hands on silverware for the first time in almost 35 years.

League Cup Semi Motherwell v St Mirren 1/11/2025

Hearts can get the league and we’ll take the two cups. Sounds like a deal to me amd we can take the league next season 😀 -
They style we are playing is more about keeping possession and finding the right shot, rather than shooting on sight, so I'd expect it to be a little lower. As much as I hate some of the new stats, xG might be more interesting.

I think that was superseded by the red card for the "obvious goal scoring opportunity" and its various criteria. I can't remember the exact wording for the (relatively new) yellow card "tactical" foul, but it's something to do with stopping an attack rather than a goal. EDIT: found the IFAB Law 12 wording about the yellow card commits any other offence which interferes with or stops a promising attack
-
The club is saying there will be more Well fans at this semi "than there was 12 months ago for our last semi-final" - but, of course, no figures yet.
-
Exactly fingers crossed mate.
