Spot on Dave, im all for giving the academy plsyers game time but AJ should be concentrating on what our 1st choice starting 11 will be, the ECL game is in two weeks and the league starts three weeks today. For me the squad looks a bit threadbare in certain areas, cenral defence, goal keeper and striking options up top so i hope our recruitment team are working hard to fill the gaps.

Yes and no. Player "trading" suggests not just comings but also goings.
-
Its not been said, but I assume a broken jaw will sideline him for a wee while. He certainly won't be able to eat at the moment. Its a bit concerning though that we're playing so many young lads in games we should be using to prepare for the impending Conference League ties. Giving the development squad some gametime is no bad thing though, just not quite so much of it just now.

When did they say JT would be out for several weeks? He was back in training this week.
-
That was a bit concerning, especially as we have a small squad at the moment. Certainly, we know about TJ, who will be out for several weeks, and McGinn and Hendry, who are out for months. Hopefully, not much more than that.
-
To me this sounds like Thor. Hopefully see more of him this year.

Do we have any information on the injuries referred to?

Can’t help but interpret ‘youthful’ meaning likely to stay for next season . was positive to hear Dawes is busy

RIP Mike.

Alfred’s interview suggests a very youthful team. He suggested the game enabled 2009 and 2010 players to get hair on their chests?? id like to see our more established players get minutes in their legs before playing a really good side on Friday night but hey ho… I’ll trust the process (I hate that phrase… sorry)

Me too mate. He scored goals for fun with Clydebank, went down south and did nowt, came back to us and scored a few but never lived up to what he'd done at the Bankies previously. I had the card as well 🙂 May even still have it. I have a Gola football boot box of early mid 70s football cards somewhere in the loft !

With Carlisle Goals coming from Mair, Mugabe and Armstrong. just kidding. No clue who scored for them 😂

"Another step in our pre-season journey 💪 A predominantly young Motherwell side faced Carlisle United in a behind-closed-doors friendly match this afternoon at Fir Park. The visitors came away with a 3-2 win in a tightly contested match, with goals coming from Ewan Wilson and Ibrahim Said for the home side."

I remember as a kid being quite excited that we signed him and it was for quite a bit as far as I remember. I also remember getting a football card of him from a packet of chewing gum and being elated. He was wearing the Motherwell admiral kit with the 2 claret stripes down the front. Rest in Peace Mike.

One for older readers but Mike larnach has passed away. I remember us signing him late 1970's but not many memories of him playing. Was a big signing at time but didn't live up to expectations, RIP and condolences to family

Anyone know what the result was today?

I’m happy if I see us play decent entertaining football every week. OF course, finishing higher up the league, winning a cup would be more than welcome but when I started watching Motherwell as a wee boy it wasn't because I thought they might win the league or the cup and it’s still the same today. They are my home town team and I still get excited at the chance to watch them every week, even although that’s via streaming now. I think there may be a lot of people just like me who have found their way back to Fir Park, not because of trophies but because, once again, Motherwell are Playing football that is a joy to watch. I just hope that we can continue trend.

Our development squad had a bounce game against Queen of the South's Under 19s yesterday at Dalziel Park. Game ended in a 1-1 draw. https://www.qosfc.com/news-7029

Just had a look at the Carlisle United website and see they have a number of our ex players on their books: Archie Mair, Bevis Mugabi, and Luke Armstrong.
-
That's what I thought. Cannot have St Mirren diving in and stealing the next Eli Just from us. Hope they have planned for a sneaky wee drone appearing over the stand roof.
-
I agree. We’ve set the mould in terms of style and approach. Top six and a cup run would be a success for Alfred.
