That would be a start but doesn't solve how anyone is getting there when there's no bus and the train stations are at least 30-40 minutes walk away. What about if all these other pubs start closing because they lose out on all the passing trade instead now stuck in the middle of nowhere, half way to Cleland, every other week? There's much more to ripping a club out of its community than just making sure we have a decent pub incorporated and some office blocks to rent 365 days a year.

Fuck the negativity, we are going to absolutely stonk on them

Shhhhhhh!

That Old Chestnut - Do We Move Or Do We Stay
FirParkCornerExile replied to Kmcalpin's topic in Club Chat
We should be incorporating better bars into any new stadium so folk don't need to walk from a pub and not putting that valuable money into the club. Anything has got to be better than the piss poor Cooper Bar that currently operates a one in one out policy if you don't arrive 2 hours before kick off. -
Sell JT ASAP in the summer, because I still think he might be a 9 or 10 goals a season striker elsewhere next season, including Fir Park
-
Im all for that. I trust the board will be doing everything they can to keep him. If ever there was a Motherwell manager that could ask for whatever they want, Jens is probably about as close as it gets. If we sell Maswanhise we dont really need to sell anyone else in the close season. (Caveat being we would need to source a replacement to support Eythor). If we could guarantee the rest of his team was kept together for a proper tilt at Europe, then maybe, just maybe......
-
Which is all true but we could give him a deserved hefty uplift in wages. Means compo increases & you never know may help increase his loyalty. Of course, that may have already happened & we just dont know.

For what it’s worth I reckon if we win this game we will finish 3rd splitting the arse cheeks as Hearts seem to be scraping wins and not drawing. Our run in after Saturday is by far the worst of the top 4 teams, every game is a stinker and we’ll effectively be playing 9 finals until the end of the season which will mentally and physically drain the team.

Just looked at the Dundee ticket sales for the away end, it's looking good, think this will be an impressive away support. For anyone who hasn't been in a while beware the peaking restrictions. https://share.google/JbPt9BoP15hhagOEc

The league challenge is ridiculous and every week I expect the wheels to come off. But here we are on Monday after making up ground on 2nd and 3rd and extending the gap to 5th. Making the most of it while it lasts.
-
Phew!! And yes I agree about league challenge, I think it is too big a step but while there is hope

Are tickets for the original game still valid for Saturday?

The only bit of land worth moving to Ravenscraig for is right behind the college, where the new railway bridge is and where Airbles Road is about to be extended through. That way everyone's pre/post match routines pretty much stay the same. You're more or less the same walk from the local pubs to there than you currently are to Fir Park. Anything other than that and you're talking a minimum 20 minute walk from a pub and at least 30 minutes from the train stations (probably minimum 40 minutes), with no transport links cutting through at all currently. I had this conversation with a recently departed Society board member and his answer was "drive or get the bus", but if people are in the habit of walking to Fir Park or getting a pint before/after the game they're not all of a sudden en masse going to start driving every week and the only bus currently is a mini bus to the sport centre once an hour. Unless the club was to provide it for free at the time, but even then... There's also the strong chance of missing out on that ideal bit of land and ending up in Carfin or closer to Cleland rather than Motherwell. Not for me.

Thats more like it! Feeling much happier now! 😆😆😆

I think we’ll beat Dundee on Saturday. But to add some negative realism to the matter I don’t think we have any change of winning the league as we are too far behind Hearts and don’t see us getting anything away against Celtic on the 14th.

Please tell me you mean a home 3-0 win? If you are predicting us to win that's the league challenge screwed! 🤪🤪

Forest Green Rovers, my local team when I lived in England, built a new stadium in 2003. It cost about 5.5 million in today's money. It only has 2 stands (for about 5,000) capacity, so would cost a few more million to add the other two. As part of the construction, they also built a gym, a leisure club, a sauna, a pub and meeting facilities - so it's in use 7 days a week. Because the owner is a bit of an eco-fanatic, it is a sustainable design with an organic football pitch, and solar panels on the roof of the stadium to power 25 per cent of the stadium. The pitch also collects rainwater to be recycled around the stadium and all waste cooking oil at the club is recycled into biofuel. The club introduced a solar powered 'MowBot' in April 2012 which cuts the grass on the pitch. Local farmers use the grass cuttings from the stadium to condition their soil. The area outside the stadium has also been developed into a habitat for wildlife through the planting of wild flowers and native trees. We might not need all the eco-features, but a 4 stand version something like that could be just the ticket. (if they could replicate my favourite local pub, The Ram in Woodchester (400 years old, beer from the local brewery) they'd have a goldmine on their hands).

Outside chance, but has a long relationship with Clarke, so possible. Delusional 🤣

To buy a ticket you need to go to Dundee’s website apparently and they are emailed to you. My dad just got his tickets from there earlier. Still a number of tickets available.
-
50. Its punishment for pyro incidents. It won't make any difference though as we won't sell out our allocation. It only means that we pay Dundee for an extra 50 unused tickets. Pointless.

I think moving ground is only a matter of time the POD and John Hunter stands both need major renovation which can't happen due to things in the surrounding area that being said the cost of a new stadium while up keeping FP until it's ready would be a massive outlay I'm not sure the club can afford w/o massive player sales or us doing the unthinkable and winning the league/ending up in the CL group stages and using the £30M that brings to fund it. The talk since we sold David Turnbull for a club record fee is that we'd look to build a new training facility so I'm assuming there has been some form of groundwork done on that and could come to fruition in a few years time where that might be though I have no idea. The point about local business is fair but should we move that will likely create new businesses in that area.

We shall win and smother them like we have with most teams this season. Reason why we are in the league mind and it isn't by playing crapola week in week out. Easy peasy!
