  1. Today
  2. I remember when McCall tried to sign Çiftçi he said Dundee Utd were offering double what we could afford. I don't know if they are still as generous, but I doubt when Tony Watt left us he moved there for footballing reasons.
  3. Rangers, Celtic are monumentally bigger Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs are massive in comparison to us. Utd act like they are, but not by much. Then its us and the other big 'provincial' clubs
  4. Dundee United will be paying about 25% more than we do. However they are a financial basket case.
  5. I don't know if I'd classify them as "much bigger", but I'm not sure we can say that we're bigger than Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Hibs, Dundee United & Aberdeen. On crowd and budget, that collection right there should be the default top six. Granted, we rarely see a season where all six of them are on form and performing to their potential, which usually means one or two slip out of the top six, and that's where ourselves, St Mirren, Killie, Dundee etc can take advantage.
  6. I suspect that Dundee United in general pay much more than us as well although I gather they've blown a fair amount so may be cutting back a bit...
  7. I think Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeens budgets are considerably higher. Aberdeen had 3 players on >£20,000 a week and the average wage being £5000 a week, that's considerably more that Motherwell. Hibs and Hearts will pay similarly.
  8. Your spellings shocking mate. 😂
  9. Who are the 6 much bigger teams? I count 2 much bigger teams and 3 with bigger budgets but not massively bigger.
  10. Anyone out by Wishaw Golf Club know if the helicopter has arrived yet? 😜😜😜
  11. Yesterday
  12. I admire your optimism that Clarke even watched that game. Although having an underwhelming game every week hasn't prevented Hanley and a few of his mates from being selected.
  13. I welcome your insight into Serie A and it’s reassuring to hear that you have been impressed by him. For one reason or another however, Steve Clarke hasn’t. It was reported today that Clarke had a conversation with those at risk of missing out in the WC during the March camp. Lennon would have been one of those. That being the case his last chance to impress would have been at home to Cremonese, That day I was very underwhelmed by Miller and Udinese. I of course want him to reach the heights we all think he can and I’m gutted that he is missing out in the opportunity of a lifetime. Accounting for the period of adjustment in Italy, I am searching for reasons as to why i) Miller missed out on the original 26 at the expense of a 5th centre forward and ii) Fletcher impressed the coaching staff more in a few days than Miller has over several camps.
  14. We've finished Top 6 in 45% of all the seasons played in this format. I think that's pretty good considering there are 6 much bigger teams and maybe another 4-5 similar sized teams.
  15. Especially since they keep playing Dane Murray.
  16. If there was ever a league that was AP's level it's that one. He scored 17 in 25 the season before he joined us and was in the A-League team of the year.
  17. I still think he’s the best striker we have on the books. I don’t think he really wants to be here though so if we can get rid of him and pocket some money fair enough.
  18. I doubt there was ever a chance that Sydney FC would have given us money for that useless twat. Thanks again Kettlewell.
  19. Oh dear, just when we thought the club was progressing nicely, we get a swift boot in the gentlemans area and have to take that dud back. 😭
  20. Yep, not a former player yet. Let's see what the new manager thinks of him.
  21. Ap Stam returning to us....for the time being.
  22. From BBC gossip Scotland head coach Steve Clarke says he had to go with his gut feeling when calling up Manchester United teenager Tyler Fletcher for the World Cup - and revealed he has reached out to Lennon Miller after the Udinese midfielder was snubbed as a Billy Gilmour replacement (Scotsman)., external Scotland head coach Steve Clarke says he had to go with his gut feeling when calling up Manchester United teenager Tyler Fletcher for the World Cup - and revealed he has reached out to Lennon Miller after the Udinese midfielder was snubbed as a Billy Gilmour replacement (Scotsman)., external
  23. Fifa are apparently getting clever and going all high tech for the world cup circus, Fans in Scotland will never see it though as it needs more than 1 camera and trained competent officials to be used https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c232d34kkyzo
  24. The only reason they're doing that is so they have "no choice" (according to their rules) but to give the next one to Saudi Arabia.
  25. Last week
  26. Thanks for the inside track on Lennon: great to hear of his development on and off the pitch from someone who knows Serie A. Haven't heard him speaking Italian yet but Ferguson at Bologna sounded ok. Yes, I felt the same. I feel he's really thrawn and blinkered and I feel he didn't like Lennon's naïve/misreported comments a while ago, probably especially coming from a "diddy team" player at the time. A four-year contract for Clarke before a WC tournament is insane but sums up the SFA's cosy cartel of useless blazers who have failed to produce any improvement in the Scottish game domestically or internationally since the 80s.
  27. Slightly nosey question but what was your sport? Did you move to Italy because of the sport? I agree with what you say. I remember feeling slightly sorry for Lennon Miler at the time because it did seem like a big move for such a young guy. Italy can be just as dark, just as wet, just as cold in the winter months and for a young guy to have the motivation to do it speaks highly of him. All the more reason that it is a real shame that his commitment has not been rewarding by a Scotland call up. In nobody"s world is a regular Serie A midfield player an inferior option to a Manchester Utd reserve with little to no first team experience yet here we are. If as Weeyin suggests Clarke has picked Fletcher to make some sort of point then he should be nowhere near the Scotland managers job because he is effectively putting his own interests in front of the national interest. I suspect that Lennon's comments about wanting to be the best Scotland player will not have helped. In some cultures that type of ambition would be celebrated but I am certain those comments will not have gone down well with the ever frowning Mr Clarke.
