  1. Past hour
  2. Or teams changing their formation to nullify us. We have a target on our backs and its all about can we handle that pressure and continue to get the small breaks that matter.
  3. I hope they describe us as the team that just beat Dundee Utd.
  4. I don't think I will ever get used to opposition managers calling us the form team in the league
  5. Today
  6. Come on the Well Would love another 3 points today , would take a draw before a ball is kicked with the weather up there
  7. Luckily most of our game is played on the ground although I agree that the swirling wind will cause problems and mistakes as passes go astray
  8. Agree that high winds should have games postponed. It ruins matches.
  9. It’s just going to be a lottery up there today, 45mph wind and rain. I’ve never in my life seen a good football game in high winds. I’ve always felt that high winds should cancel games, it’s ver near impossible to play attractive football in it. I’d be content with a draw today
  10. Goodwin’s overhyped and Dundee United are average at best. This should be a game where JBA gets the better of his opposite number. An away win and another clean sheet would be brilliant, but I’d take a draw if it keeps the run going.
  11. As an aside, but still talking about what we want from our goalkeeper, how good would Big Sieb be in this team? 😆😆😆
  12. Yes, a lot of our defensive success can be attributed to denying the opposition possession near our box. Ward is a good fit for our system. Like Grizzly though, I'm not 100% convinced of his reliability at cross balls. As Big Mal once said "The greatest crime in football is to make your goalkeeper do any work at all".
  13. Case in point, Big Rab Douglas took time to adjust to playing for Celtic due to being switched on for 90 minutes previously then a virtual spectator in some matches, maintaining concentration was hard.
  14. Yesterday
  15. This would generally be the case for most Motherwell keepers as in the past we would generally have less possession of the football and be backs to the wall at times. This side? Im not so sure. As Wellfan says, our best form of defence this season has been keeping the ball. Its a very weird feeling......
  16. I think its also case with me that over the years we have had some great keepers ( and some absolute brutal ones). Ward wouldn't be in my top 5 keepers. Definitely improved with ball at his feet so I do give him credit for that
  17. To be honest after the mistakes at the Hearts, Kilmarnock and Celtic games that cost us points i was not convinced either, but since that horror show at parkhead he has been very good, no daft mistakes, looks comfortable on the ball and for me has earned the contract extension. He will be the first choice keeper for the forseeable future, and i think Oxborough will be moving on, probably next summer.
  18. Everyone knows my views on Ward and I am still to be totally convinced but there is definitely improvement there and last Saturday had crucial save at 1-0. For me a goalkeeper needs to be good at crosses and commanding his box which i am not sure Ward does but we are 3rd and 4 clean sheets in a row so what do I know 🤪
  19. Let’s hope we keep playing that way, because he’s certainly not one of the best collectors of crosses or shots we’ve ever had.
  20. He's one of the best sweepers we've ever had. It will be difficult to find a better keeper with his distribution
  21. I’ve been one of the more vocal critics of Ward since he came in, but credit where it’s due. He’s done what’s been asked of him, taken risks and clearly improved. Our best form of defence is keeping the ball, and he’s been integral to that.
  22. Callum Ward new deal to 2027 been better recently after a poor start. Leaves us with 14 under contract for next season GK- Callum Ward ,Aston Oxborough DEF- Tom Sparrow, Emmanuel Longelo ,Ewan Wilson MID- Lukas Fadinger, Elliot Watt, Oscar Preistman ATT- Twanda Maswanhise, Ibrahim Said, Elijah Just, Reagan Charles-Cook, Apsotolos Stamatelopulos, Callum Hendry
  23. No idea what the team will be, JBA likes to rotate and it does not seem to matter which is a luxury I can't ever remember us having. Going for 4-1 to the good guys. AP to get a pen. We do seem to get a lot of pens these days but then with the style we are playing, it is not a surprise
  24. Likely Balmer and Ox. JBA keeps mentioning Halliday’s recovery, so he’s potentially in the plans as midfield cover. Halliday might be alright with that too. He’ll get minutes once he’s fit since JBA rotates a lot. Not the worst bit of cover if he’s willing to play the JBA way. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if all three moved on.
