  4. 100% Also, from the "guys that know the game", Tommy Wright came in to save Kilmarnock and they were relegated, Stuart Kettlewell can in to save Ross County and they were relegated, Mark McGhee came in to save Dundee and they were relegated,, Terry Butcher came in to save Hibs and they were relegated etc. etc. I'm delighted we have moved away from that and taking a different kind of risk.

    Our New Manager

It’ll be interesting seeing how our new manager does with regards the conference game, he mentioned that straight away and you do find foreign coaches are desperate to do well and try themselves out in this arena. both Rangers and Celtic as you mentioned aren’t evolving. They are fixated on beating one another and if any team in the league has the audacity to challenge them in any way, they try and get their players/manager on the cheap and attempt to unsettle them…. Helped by the media. i have no doubt ā€œDelā€ will breenge his way through the league and win games as will ā€œpapa Martinā€ but I know both will fail miserably in Europe with their Jurassic style approach.
  9. I'll reiterate what I said in relation to McInnes. If it means watching Goodwin or Robinson's brand of football, I'll do without European football or a trophy (I say that as someone who enjoyed Robinson's team when he was here, maybe I've changed). I want to actually enjoy watching Motherwell. Anything else is a bonus..
  10. Quite the take. It has very little to do with knowing the league Rangers have gone for. It’s the fanbase demand for a Rangers man’ much the same as the Shettlestons demanding a ā€˜Sellick man’ backing themselves into their respective corners. Football has evolved - they won’t and does little for the co-efficient.
  11. Im well aware of that but the inference in the original post was be better at some time to be looking at managers who know the league and as my post says knowing the laeague means fuck all . Its the ability of the manager and you dont need to know the league to be a success. I would still rather go for guys who try to continue the journey we started than watch the usual unimaginative pish generally served up by the Largs mafia. Sure Robinson won a cup but I wouldnt like to watch the dross St Mirren fans watched this season and you dont need to be good to win a cup as both St Mirren and Aberdeen have proved.
  12. I'm not especially a fan of either Robinson or Goodwin but to be fair one won a major trophy and the other got Top 6 and European football after a promotion. If Johansson achieves a trophy, Top 6 or European football he'll have done a good job. We can all blether about the new appointment but ultimately the proof will be in the pudding.
  13. Ok Manager is in, when is the first signing
  14. Robinson knows league nearly got St Mirren relegated. Kettlewell knows league nearly got Killie relegated. Jim Goodwin knows league inside out & DU were pish. Id rather we tried something different than the Scottish "Merry Go Round " fuckers who change club every couple of years and achieve fuck all.
  15. Welcome to Motherwell Alfred.
  16. Summary: doesn't know JBA personally and won't rip up the current playbook.

    Our New Manager

I’m going nowhere. I’m Motherwell til I die as the song goes. 😊
  18. There always seems to have been a mindset in British football that if somebody hasn’t played football or played at a high level, he won’t be any good as a manager - the show us your medals brigade. Well British football has been plagued for too long by ex-players who played at a high level and/or won medals but couldn’t run a bath. So let’s not condemn this guy before he’s started.

    Our New Manager

Oh right. I’ll say again, I just think Derek McInnes is a good manager. That’s it. You got anymore anecdotes about Sir George Graham or anyone else who was involved with the SFA that was favouring Rangers 60 years ago and how that’s somehow relevant to what happens in the modern game? No? Okay, let’s move on.
  20. We now have a Head of Football, and it’s clear there’s a player recruitment and development strategy in place regardless of who the manager is. Even so, it’s still a massive task for Johansson, not only to fill JBA’s shoes but also to deal with the loss of Slattery and, likely, others.
  21. For a bit of context AJ’s points per game at Rosenborg was 1.67, JBA’s with us was 1.74. AJ’s includes the poor run of form that led to his departure so possibly it was closer to or maybe better than JBA’s before that. He also took Rosenborg to the playoff round of the conference league.
  22. Yup was moi....the word legend caused so much controversy but still behind the most controversial word I have used on this forum.............Joke! 🤪🤪
  23. Given that McInnes is the common denominator and you appear to have a fixation on him, take your pick, but since he’s now decided to hitch his wagon to the Castle Greyskull Orcs then maybe, them. However if you really are a dosser start behaving like one and stop posting drivel.
  24. I'm optimistic about his appointment. The continuation of the data led approach of appointing the past two managers and the style of fitba we're now playing seems to be working. Fair play to the high heid yins in the club at the moment. Seem to be switched on.
