  1. Past hour
  2. I think it was a poor choice because Rangers have a very poor record of developing young Scottish talent. They might prove me wrong with Rice, but their recent history is very much throwing money at overseas imports.
  3. Depends if you want to see us in Europe again, or Scotland in a World Cup finals again or attract a better quality of player to the club again. We also get a decent payment from UEFA at the end of the season that's based on how well the Scottish teams perform. Not giving a monkey was anyone thinks abroad of our game is the same attitude the people running our game have had for decades. It's why we are in the dark ages in many aspects. We see JBA as an innovator, when he's really just implementing an approach that modern teams have been using for the past decade. There's a reason we went for foreign managers in our last couple of appointments. I appreciate that the extra cash can give those teams a financial advantage - but it hasn't done them much good in recent years. So on balance, I think it's better for everyone if Scottish teams do well. Although I'm never disappointed to see the OF crash and burn at any time.
  4. Good grief what has fitbaw become.
  5. All some fans have done is turn on him as quick as he turned on us, except we ain’t the liars who whored ourselves out to the Sun newspaper. He lied to try to deflect from his own failings. I’m not saying he deserves verbal abuse on Saturday, but he does deserve all the criticism and heat that’s coming his way.
  6. Today
  7. This discussion started in the context of Kettlewell. I've never found the atmosphere at Fir Park particularly intimidating tbh.
  8. "I don't think any players will improve if I only talk in clichΓ©s and headlines". πŸ‘Œ This is getting into marriage proposal territory.
  9. Oh the omens ain't looking good πŸ˜‚ Rangers out ... Tick Celtic out ....Tick Hibs out ...Tick Aberdeen out ... Tick Man Utd out the Cup ....Tick 5 games gone my way this week a 6th would be unheard of 😱
  10. I’m not sure he made a poor choice. He broke into that Rangers team aged 16. He has been unlucky with injuries and also the constant change of managers at the club. I think an injury free Rice within a stable environment would have played 50 plus games for them. I agree staying at Motherwell would probably have resulted in more performances, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
  11. We've had worse managers I'll grant you. However it was his behaviour latterly that turned fans against him. I can understand that although I'm of the view that we should do our talking on the pitch not off it. It appears he was abrasive, given the run ins he had with match officials, but being generous you could arguably dismiss that out of hand as simply showing signs of pressure and stress. However, for me, it was the manner of his leaving that rankled me. He criticised our support as a whole in public, although he later rowed back on that. He also made several allegations about personal/family abuse, which, if true, were totally unacceptable of course. However these were never substantiated and were somewhat contradictory. What really got me though was the never ending media circus following his departure; and in particular his "well" timed public presser on the day Michael Wimmer was appointed. I hope you can understand where I'm coming from.
  12. I'm curious about other peoples opinions on this. For the life of me I cannot understand fans of clubs that flirt with European qualification every 5 / 6 years or even longer wanting the regular qualifiers to do well in Europe to improve the co efficient. All an improved co efficient does is put multi millions of pounds into clubs already with a big financial advantage over us and put the OF straight into the league stages and for what ?the scraps of an extra conference place and periodic qualification. An improved co efficient for me hurts clubs like ours , OK we may get into Europe ourselves now and again but that in no way will compensate financially for the money the regular qualifiers get. Our only real hope of success is the domestic cups do we really want to make that harder by hoping another 3 or 4 clubs out with the OF are significantly financially strengthened, over and above the financial gap even as it is now. Had Hibs got through last night they'd have got a minimum of Β£5 million and potentially Β£8 million. Same goes for Aberdeen and Dundee Utd had they gone through. Even now 3 of them get another bite of the financial cherry. Am I alone in hoping they all get fucked out as early as possible. Frankly I don't give a monkeys what anyone abroad thinks if our game , they dont go, they don't pay and their opinion changes fuck all on my matchday experiences and never will. When I read social media I feel like I'm the only person whose starting position is fuck the co efficient πŸ˜‚ . Am I the only one that thinks like this , am I warped πŸ˜‚
  13. So you don't think we should try and make Fir Park intimidating for opposition teams? 😦
  14. 9 man EK win
  15. He was fine until he lied about fan abuse, and continued to tour the media with it, dragging our reputation just to deflect from him being shite.
  16. Yesterday
  17. I don't either. I think it's getting ridiculous. Like seriously. I have more to worry about in my life than that statement when he was leaving or whether he sold his story to the Daily Record. We've moved on and he's moved on I actually think he did really well to keep us up after Hammell went and he deserved the job after that I was talking to someone this week who used to work in the catering side at Fir Park and he couldn't say enough good things about him.
  18. Mmmmmm..... Maybe! 😍😍😍 I think if he hadnt left the way he did most fans wouldnt be overly fussed about the way it played out or his return. But he did that. Nobody else. So whilst I agree with your point in principle (particularly as it was me that called Dougie Imrie our pantomime villain) it is still football, it is still tribal, and most of us are utter hypocrites! My main point about this not getting too heated and personal before the game is that I think it might actually impact negatively on the team ifnit gets too toxic, and I wouldnt want the "feel good factor" that we are experiencing just now to be diminished because of fit. However, ultimately its football. The fans will do what they want to do and theres not a blind bit if difference anyone on here can make of it. Fingers crossed for a great game, a grwat atmosphere and a Motherwell win. Stuart who? 😍😍😍
  19. I just don't get the hatred towards Kettlewell. He saved us from relegation in his first season in charge, there is almost no doubt about that. We got our first league win at Ibrox in many years. He got the best out of KVV, turned Theo Bair into a sellable asset and introduced Lennon Miller to the first team squad. It is generally agreed that he worked his socks off for the club to the point where it all got too much in the end. When the fans turned on him in the last few games ( as they did very vocally) he reacted in kind and made some ill judged decision. It happens with human beings under considerable pressure. Would any one of us want him back as manager of our club? No. Does he really deserve to be slaughtered for contributing to the continued SPFL status of our club, a status that allows JBA to now do his thing? I don't think he does. There were some comments over the last few weeks about Dougie Imrie being the pantomime villain and how tragedy shows how shallow those negative emotions actually are. Do we really need Kettlewell to be another pantomime villain so that we can enjoy the football and feel validated in our opinions?
  20. I don't think any club who plays us should be subjected to an intimidating atmosphere - when was the last time that happened at Fir Park. There are lots of kids going too. Who cares that much - I certainly don't. Just playing into his hands if we give him a hard time.
  21. We can do that without targetting Kettlewell. He wasnt the manager of Rangers and the atmosphere was great at that game....... Edit: I have no issues with us giving him it tight at the end of the game if we have won. He has certainly earned it......
  22. And here I thought a home crowd creating an intimidating atmosphere for the visitors was a positive.
  23. I'm not going to boo him. Will reflect badly on our support if we do. Headlines horrible Motherwell fans booed Kettlewell. I couldn't care less about him now. Time to move on
  24. Of course he deserves criticism. But its got nothing to do with Motherwell fans showing themselves up. Its got everything to do with providing a distraction from what is important. Ignore him. Win the game. Gloat later.
  25. He deserves every bit of criticism he may get for being dishonest and disrespectful. If it happens on Saturday, it will not make Motherwell fans look bad but show us standing up for ourselves. And if he thinks that justifies his previous opinions and lies, then so be it. He is a twat.
