  2. Good posts from Stu and Joe. At the time of the Barmack proposal, there was a lot of very insightful and forensic analysis from various posters. It proved to be a very complex issue and not being an accountant I struggled to understand all the intricacies of the debate. I was generally in favour of external investment but eventually opposed it when I saw the details of Barmack's plan. Quite a few were comfortable with the detailed discussions but many, probably most, did not understand the complexities. As always, we had extreme views from those who who supported the proposal come what may to those who would die in a ditch to oppose it out of principle. Most lay somewhere in between. Many did not vote for whatever reason. At the time the emerging division in our fanbase concerned me. Fortunately, that emerging rift has largely healed. It concerned me though that some opponents of the proposal looked own in disdain at supporters of it. Although I opposed it, I did think that some/many/most of its backers had good reasons for endorsing it. I took the trouble to ask a few why they did so, without trying to convert them. Most of their answers made perfect sense; others had a grain of truth in them. I never like to dismiss others' opinions out of hand, as it is very rare that I disagree with them 100%. The Society has done in a range of measures such as fa engagement, managerial recruitment governance and so on. Our current financial health is largely down to the Society and sound governance of our club. As Stu w says though a large element of that is the Miller Money. I too would like to see more flesh on the bones of the Society's investment plan & promises. We really do need to maximise income from all sources as we don't know what the future holds and we do face a range of challenges.

  4. Seems some Hibs fans think we are over rated, must be boring to watch and always play safe given all the nil nils we have had. After all we were lucky when we beat them 2 nil, with an apparent deflected goal and the sending off. Following comment is mental. "Well the stats I’ve just looked at say that the results are wildly better than their performances and the results are unsustainable on the performances. Just like Aberdeen last season fwiw" For all the teams in the league we probably deserve more points given our performances. Totally opposite. We have been very consistent. I do however agree with their view that away from home we have found it difficult to win. Something that all teams struggle to do. I usually dont mind Hibs fans but i really hope we go there and stuff them good and proper. They go on about our managers comments about Hanley but what about Grays comments saying we played as expected and were not that great. Get into them Motherwell.
  5. Pissed off that myself and son have missed out on getting a ticket. Been at most away games including Ibrox and Parkhead. If there happens to be any compassionate benefactor out there with an extra ticket or two I would be grateful to buy them. (Know it's a long shot but can only try for it.)
  6. In all honesty I don’t know which is why I said the bank balance should be increasing which I base on the assumption that with the club being on a sound financial footing over the last 18 months, there should have been no need for the society having to make any payments to the club, so any money raised should be in the bank.
  7. I watched the game on Sky tonight, Aberdeen were brutal,Rangers strolled through the game.
  8. For me Dave hes either been injured or asking for too much money, the cash on offer up here is a fraction of what he had in England.
  9. I disagree. Just has been exceptional for us.
  10. A good fit for St Mirren, but not us. Puzzled as to why he's had no club since last May.
  11. I still find it hard to believe he plays with forest. Just doesn't look like a player
  12. When Chris Cadden was co-commentating on an MFC TV stream he said he was sure Al kept a notebook with the names of players who took the ball off him, so he could kick them later.
  13. If he ends up at St Mirren, the only thing he’ll be kicking is other players’ legs.
  14. Allan Campbell linked with St Mirren. hope he can kickstart his career as he’s not kicked a ball since the end of last season.
  15. Sorry Colin! No offence intended! 😆
  16. I think that is a fair and balanced summary. As one who voted against the Barmack proposal (even though my first name is Colin!) I think the caution expressed in your comments is valid. No doubt we are currently in a much better and more stable position than we were when Barmack first raised his head. Partly due to the Miller monies but also down to the efforts of both Boards. The recent Society update highlighted various improvements that have taken place. You mention Finance, and apologies if I missed the info, but how does our contributing membership numbers and the Society's Bank Balance today compare to way back then? In short, what growth has taken place? Positive news in those areas can only help to reassure all those with MFC at heart.
  17. Would be brilliant to get him on a contract, but he is bound to have suitors with deeper pockets than ours unfortunately. No harm in asking though!
  18. If JBA is like any other manager, he'll have one or two targets identified for every position in case we need to replace anyone.
  19. There is also a recall deadline (mid-Jan I think)
  20. I’d Like to see Aberdeen get a draw or win at Ibrox this evening to keep rangers within a game of us. Pretty impressive to see us with the best defensive record after practically 2 rounds of fixtures. So fingers crossed we keep that going against Hibs.
  21. I thought we had already agreed with Celtic that he was staying here till end of season? Once agreed (contracted?) can they change their mind? I assume it would depend on any written contract details? So maybe maybe not.
  22. No rumours this week. JBA is too busy dodging calls from Flow instead of calling Daws.
  23. If the right hypothetical 20% offer came along, I’m sure we’d all be willing to listen. The red lines on fan ownership are already drawn, and we’ve shown what can be achieved without extra investment.
  24. Agree 100% that focusing on what we can do best as we are now is the correct decision but I also believe that we can find another Tony Bloom willing to invest similar to the deal Hearts have. Proving we are a solid reliable club is the first and hardest part which we’ve done. What I would say is that any deal should leave the society with a majority share holding and that if the society has to give up say 20% of their shares then the current private shareholders will have to give up 20% also rather than the society having to bear all the losses.
  25. Lois Moult is returning oops - that’s even more tedious 😀 I’d be happy for a few loanees from engurland - but not more like osong
  26. I don't care which school he went to.
  27. We need some incoming player rumours, especially strikers to discuss, all this chat about managers going nowhere is getting tedious now.
