  1. Past hour
  2. Glad to see the club have moved fairly quickly to sign up on loan Alex! Welcome to the best wee team in the world! Alex looks to have good statistics and at first glance a good addition for us as No 1 and Ox or Connolly as back up. Hopefully now we see new additions in defence, midfield and strikers quickly to roll the new boys out on Friday night and all in place before the potential Euro banana skin!
  3. Today
  4. I ask myself the same question Dave, I reckon it's more USA cuisine and less the ingredients
  5. How can you possibly be fed up with sea food?
  6. True, but it feels different now because the bar has already been set so high for AJ after JBA and the team’s success last season.
  7. Close enough to Cajun and Creole country, so lots of great food depending on your preferences. From grits and collard greens to jambalaya and chitlins. Red beans and rice is my favourite with skillet corn bread. After testing out loads of recipes I make a mean version myself with Andouille sausage, Tasso ham and "the trinity". Seafood too, of course - lots of blackened fish, but not a Boston scrod in sight.
  8. That college is about 15 mins from my street, about 4hrs away.
  9. Is the food any better? Asking for a friend who's fed up with sea food
  10. Yesterday
  11. He's not in the squad, but on the roster as a freshman. How American does that sound? https://www.gochoctaws.com/sports/mens-soccer/roster He'll be in the deep south. A world apart from life here in New England.
  12. Seems to be agile and a very good shot stopper. Apparently played outfield early in his career and looks to be comfortable with the ball at his feet. Likes to save penalties as well. Should be a good fit for our system. At first sight similar to Callum Ward, even down to the transfer fee. Not the biggest keeper in the world and I doubt he'll make it in the Premier League but good enough to help us out in our hour or season of need. There's bucketloads of very good keepers in England so he'll have plenty of competition if he returns down there. I always think that loans can be risky but in our situation, we probably didn't have much choice. I suspect he'll be our no 1 and therefore I feel sorry for Matty Connelly but I can't ever see him being anything more than back up at best for us.
  13. We had nearly 2 years of Alexanderball before Sligo, so I dont think quite the same thing. But would be a horrendous start nonetheless.....
  14. Same quality's as Ward biggest asset is passing it out to start things off hopefully will be better than Ward in the other departments.
  15. Good luck to young Harry. He has seen an opportunity and is going for it. He deserves credit for taking a less standard path but one which offers benefits beyond football. As for his language skills, all he has to do is slow his speech down slightly. I had to do the same when I move to NZ.
  16. I think that he’s going for the degree but on a soccer scholarship. My mate did a similar thing in the 80’s, went over to visit him and the majority of the team were either European or South American some of whom went on to play in the North American league so possibly he has both options in front of him. All the best to him but as said previously he’s going to have to learn to speak differently
  17. So is he just away for his schooling and he'll be back with us? Or is he dropping out of professional football to follow in his father's footsteps?
  18. Some of those saves make me think of Gunnar Neilsen's showreel with the way that he flaps at shots. Looks good with his feet though, so hopefully he'll turn out to be an asset.
  19. His official height is 6-0. Presumaby then, Matty is 5-10.
  20. He's right about some of the big college American Football teams averaging crowds of around 100k every week. It's quite incredible. If he's expecting a similarly large crowd for the Choctaws college soccer matches, he'll be disappointed with the 1 - 200 in attendance. Interesting opportunity though if he takes advantage of it.
  21. Apparently 5cm (2 inches) taller than Matty.
  22. I don't want to see.any of that at Fir Park. I want my goalie to be very sensible and level headed. Hugh Sproat was as flamboyant a keeper as I ever want to see at Fir Park.
  23. Doesn't look much taller than wee Matt
  24. My killie source confirms 6 figures, she's in total shock also....but ecstatic
  25. To be fair, nobody at either club has ever said they want to sign any of them. It's just a daily procession of ex-players saying that they should/have to sign them because they are too dim to think they might want to play anywhere else.
  26. I’m not complaining, but it’s Interesting that after all the hype about Rangers and Celtic wanting to sign Elliott, Just and Maswanise, they’re both prepared to dole out transfer fees on players from abroad of the level that was suggested they may need to pay us for these players. Not prepared to pay Scottish clubs proper transfer fees for their players but hoping they will jump at the first number THEY decide they WANT to pay. They don’t want other clubs to become financially independent and/or stronger. 😡
  27. The original El Loco with his scorpion kick.
