  1. Past hour
  2. Watch this, it was a Red card all day long, high tackle, straight leg, studs up, reckless etc etc. https://twitter.com/afc1903mad/status/1784337585864667351?t=oypvhiAlyiyF0mLH0VXZcg&s=19
  3. Some truth in what you say, but I'm more optimistic. SK will have more money available to him for a start. Not in terms of the gross amount but certainly in terms of the net amount. Wages for the likes of Barry Maguire, Conor Wilkinson, Nathan McGinley, Callum Butcher etc will be freed up to spend on newcomers. These players contributed little to our campaign this term but did eat up a substantial part of the wages budget. Hopefully Jon Obika too. On the debit side, yes we'll lose Blair Spittal for sure. Maybe Theo Bair and Lennon Miller - but those moves are by no means certain. As for the rest of the OOC players, there's no-one I'm desperate to keep. Maybe some other youngsters coming through too? There will be huge departure and arrival list this summer, but even if we only attain a 50% success rate in incomers then we should still strengthen. Add to that, that SK will now know his squad better and will be aware of weaknesses.

  5. I don't go with the 'worst keeper in the league' stuff, but Kelly does look awful nervy to me, which might well be having an effect on what is not the world's greatest defence. We could certainly find a better option out there, but we saw the list of worse options we've suffered the other day. Overall, a parting of the ways might be best for both parties at this point. The success rate of transfers at our level is reckoned to be somewhere between 40% and 50%. That's about right for this season's recruitment, so we're unlikely to see much improvement next year unless we can hold onto our best players - which isn't going to happen. Any new manager would be in exactly the same position, looking to find gems on free transfers or loan deals, and a quick glance around our rivals tells you how often that happens. We'll have another meh squad because we operate in a meh league with nae money to buy proven, consistent quality.
  6. If we win and Aberdeen draw or loose to st Johnstone we go above them again. St Johnston have beaten them at sheep pit rodrie already this season.
  7. Fair point. Add to that, that we the fans, don't know the personalities in the squad and its hard to come up with an answer. What this conundrum does highlight is that the team lacks an onfield leader, something many of us have been saying for some time.
  8. We could confirm our safety on Saturday, if we beat Livingston and either or both of St Johnstone and Ross County lose. There's life in the old dog yet though as we saw at Almondvale on Saturday. Take nothing for granted.
  9. Aberdeen had five shots on target and Lennon Miller headed the first one off the line defending a corner about 55 minutes in. The second shot on target was the goal from a corner after an hour. Of the three saves he made I can think of two. The shot from outside the box which was straight at him and the shot from the right hand of the box which he saved at the near post. Neither were great saves. Add in his nonsense at the end of the game that almost gave away a goal and it was another joke performance from him.
  10. Looking at highlights. It shouldn't have been sending off. Could be costly too with var costing us possibly 100k , after the I Initial 100k approx also for privilege to be cheated. Hope we appeal. Has to come a stage when people take accountability. Ref at my boys 2011 game was better.
  11. Yeah, agreed and I'm thinking of Carl McHugh.
  12. I meant McGinn. I've never seen a player pass the straight to the opposition as much as he has over the past couple of months.
  13. SOD and O'Donnell. Are those psychiatrists Freudian?
  14. I think we will struggle to replace Mugabi and if you look he's started in 6/8 of our wins plus the games we have defended well at Ibrox, Celtic Park and Easter Road. I'm not going to miss reading the lazy stereotypes of "nice guy but has a mistake in him". SOD, McGinn and Casey all have far more mistakes this season. As for why he's so much nicer than Shane Blaney or Barry Maguire I'll leave that to the psychiatrists.....
  15. Yesterday
  16. Kettlewell doesn't see what the fans see, and that's a good thing. Because, for the most part, the fans know hee-haw about managing a football team. There's a reason why he's being paid to sit in the dugout while we're paying to sit in the stands.
  17. I'd go Moses all day long. It hasn't really worked for Shaw at Fir Park. On Spittal, I don't see him being dropped.
  18. I think this is fair comment. But I'm not sure who the alternative choice as leader could be, given that almost everyone else has been in and out of the team. Another part of the rebuild required. Miller in time perhaps but that is a long way off. Butcher and Casey were obvious choices at season start but they have had their own issues to overcome without being burdened with Captaincy. And anyway, the players seem comfortable with Kelly. But to bring some balance to this Kelly debate. Every one of our defenders has made multiple errors this season, leading to goals conceded. And that includes untouchables McGinn and Gent. The entire team shares responsibility for our defensive failings. As for the Aberdeen game I wonder if Kelly's loudest critics actually bothered to watch the game. Kelly was all that stood between us and a 3 or 4 nil hiding in the second half. Strange how anything good he does is ignored by some. And, yes, he frustrates me at times as well but then so do they all.
  19. Given how many teams we play against that launch balls into the box, it's not a bad talent to have. I've said it for years now, that as long as he just keeps his passes short and simple he's worth his place in the team based on his aerial presence.
  20. And Casey gives me the fear any time the opposition swings in a cross because there's a fair chance he'll be out of position.
  21. I don't care as much what a defender is like on the ball, I need them to be able to defend. That involves marking the right man, compressing space, covering team mates, attacking the ball etc. I've lost count of the number of times this season that Casey has lost his man (or been nowhere near him) and been responsible for conceding a soft goal. He gets less stick from fans because he runs about a lot and makes faces, but his actual defending skills are pretty limited.
  22. Brilliant at heading the ball away but you look through your fingers when it's at his feet.
  23. I agree that Casey has had his moments but Bevis just gives the fear every time he is on the ball. An absolute gem of a guy and always welcome at fir park but time to move on
  24. I also think making him captain has contributed to his dip in form. You see it happen to some players when the additional responsibilities on game days in training takes away some of their focus.
  25. That I respectfully don't agree with to be fair.
  26. Casey has been more of a defensive liability overall this season than Bevis.
  27. We've reached the point with bevis where it will benefit both parties if he moves on,he's never really improved while he's been here and been a bit of a liability the whole way through.we need as much funds freed up to bring some defenders in and bevis leaving would be a good start.
  28. Me neither he can be really good but he's a potential bomb scare at times guaranteed at least one or two mistakes every game.
