  1. Jamie Murphy came on as a sub today at Ibrox. I've got a feeling we'll see him back at Fir Park at some point over the next couple of years. Morgyn Neill, David Ferguson and Connor Sammon all scored in League One yesterday.

  2. Rugby is a sport designed specifically for philanderers and upper class sexual deviants. I'm glad we aren't taking any moral cues from them.

  3. I'm really pleased for Gallagher. In all honesty I can't say I particularly noticed him for Livingston (admittedly I missed two of our games against them last season) so I don't know how much his form at Livi played a part, but from day one with Motherwell he has really looked the part. To have the ability to be strong in the tackle and dominant in the air is a pre-requisite of a good centre-half, but its evident he brings a lot more to the team than those defensive attributes. It's also really pleasing given the way he and his family seem to have embraced playing for the club. Things like his kid getting a Motherwell strip with his number and being photographed in the tunnel, his missus getting involved in the Ladies Day initiative and the simple but appreciated gesture of going to supporters at full time regardless of result. Good on you Declan. Sent from my FIG-LX1 using Tapatalk

  4. No Scottish team can match the attacking prowess of Welsh part timers Conners Quay

  6. Allan Campbell for scotland. First name on our team sheet for me, and hard pushed to think of a midfielder in the league I'd have in my team ahead of him.

  7. A completely unexpected aspect of the game for me. Despite packing their defence for much of the first half Saints managed to win a surprising number of corners; 9 to our 2. Pre match I expected us to have to aerially bombard a packed defence at set pieces etc but for a long spell, with a few exceptions, we struggled to get anywhere near their penalty box to either win corners or put in crosses. In short first class defending and the way in which I'd like us to see out games in the last 15 minutes or so when we're winning but on the back foot.

  8. Still surprised that we didnt face stiffer competition from clubs higher up the 'food chain' in bringing in Gallagher & Polworth. Early days admittedly but when you see how well they have slotted into the team/system and their individual performances are now being singled out for praise in the national media - it makes you realise what good shrewd signings they have so far been. When you compare them to teams with bigger budgets summer signings, in similar positions to Gallagher & Polworth, like Ash Taylor Adam Jackson Glenn Whelan Joe Newell You cant help but question their recruitment policy

  9. Given that Saints plundered four points last season from not massively dissimilar games last season it was pleasing to get the win yesterday. I've seen us come unstuck in many a fixture like that over the years. For all Robinson suggested it was one of the best performances of the season in the first half it was a game I never really felt comfortable about until Long's emphatic finish at the end. When you are giving up nine corners to the opposition you think sooner or later something has to drop for them, although ironically a couple of really good chances for ourselves actually came from their corners. I think there has been a definite shift in mentality about believing in their abilities to break down teams who are attempting to make things stuffy at Fir Park. The flip side to not appearing to have an out and out goalscorer for the opposition to focus on is that currently is that there are a number of threats from right across the team. I think we're into double figures of different players who have scored this season and whilst none of them may have consistency of finding the net there is the potential for a goal to come from anyone in that team. So again it was really encouraging that the temptation to lose faith in the ability and resort to hoofing it was very pleasing and resulted in a terrific goal from James Scott. As you might expect they rallied somewhat in the second half but Gillespie's tip over and Hartley's timely emergence from seemingly nowhere to block apart I thought we generally defended everything they hit us with well. The display of Barry Maguire was another positive and if he can turn in similar displays it won't so much be a case of having back up for Liam Donnelly but a genuine challenger for his position. All in all very happy to go into the latest break on the back of a very good result.

  10. Robinson definitely seems to be taking a 'tough love' approach with Scott however I think it's because he's got such high expectations of him. In his interviews, he'll say he's got massive potential but it's always with a strong caveat of what he needs to improve on. From what I can see from the stands he doesn't hide his frustrations with Scott well, and seems to be harder on him than he is with other players when mistakes are made. He's just turned 19 so that approach could break a young player. Can only hope Robinson has seen something in Scott's character that warrants this approach.

  11. Ironically I don’t think we are direct enough, shots from 18 yards are allowed aren’t they?

  12. When Turnbull comes back Campbell should do the holding role. He is perfect for it other than his height. I enjoyed that today. We played some great stuff in the first half and should probably have scored more. Scott's goal was class and he should be on the left to get him coming inside into his good foot. Maguire was excellent, loads of composure and he grew in confidence as the gave went on. The step over in the second half was class. Polworth was excellent but faded faded a bit in the second half. Hartley was my MOTM the header to save a goal was brilliant and he looks like he is delighted to be back playing, being benched obviously hurt him. The best thing just now is there is still loads of potential for improvement in this team. We should be confident about making a big statement against Aberdeen.

  13. I don't want any of our players to play for Scotland, because Scotland are utter dugmeat and when we're trying to improve the Motherwell side i'd prefer it if our players weren't semi-regularly put on a massive downer by getting pumped by 90% of the countries on earth.
