  1. O'Donnell and Carroll have clearly been told to ignore the Rangers full backs and watch Kent and Hagi. It's working so far.

  2. I know I have suggested before and been laughed at but why dont we ask Chelsea if Billy Gilmour was available on loan, yes I know answer probably no but hey if you don't ask.......

  3. In fairness to McIvor he's been out for a long time and its a hard game to come back in to after not kicking a ball in anger for so long. I'm not saying he's going to kick on but its unfair to write him off after today.

  4. The cost of getting relegated dwarfs spending an extra £150,000 on getting a quality striker in. If we get relegated this summer we are up shit creek due to the season ticket guarantee. We will have no income next season apart from PATG. We should have a budget set aside for a goal scorer to get us out this mess.

  5. I think it was offside but it's very difficult to tell. Tavernier was definitely offside for the one he headed across but that ginger linesman always seems to favour Rangers. They were putting extra men into the box and pulling Morelos wide to try and disrupt our marking at crosses and the presence of Balogun definitely confused Carroll. The problem area of the team at the moment is centre midfield especially in the second half of games. Allan Campbell has been so poor recently and Crawford is limited. Polworth has been better the past two games but still needs to improve more. Cole and Watt are looking sharp and hopefully they can get some service from Lawless in the coming fixtures.

  6. Mugabi for me as the defenders never get as much credit as the strikers. (Nothing to do with the fact that I used play in defence). If he wins, is the prize to change the spelling of his name in the poll to the correct spelling?

  7. Took you 6 minutes to change your mind!

  8. I don't think sitting deep is a management tactic. I think it's just the players getting nervy. A little more confidence and we should see less of that. Can't really complain about climbing off the bottom of the table with a point from a Rangers game.

  9. Well I just did 45 minutes of anxiety based house work but credit to the team for hanging on.

  10. Thought Mugabi was our best defender.

  11. This is where we need Gallagher to push us 10 yards up the park. Sat far too deep.

  12. Great disciplined team performance, but Tony Watt for me is leading from the front. What a shift he put in again today. He is our player of the season by a distance right now.

  13. The team did really well today. Defensively solid throughout, just one lapse in 90 mins cost us a couple of points. Only to be expected given the amount of pressure that the back line was under. Rangers had very few clear chances. We do sit far too deep for me, and relinquishing the corner areas in our third, inviting crosses is a dangerous game of percentages. Big Dec and Bevis were excellent in the centre, mopping up pretty much everything, but it is asking a lot for them to win everything for 90 mins. In midfield, I thought that Campbell and Crawford battled well in the first half, but fell away as we got deeper in the second half. It wasn't really a game for Polworth. There was very little opportunity to create, but he was involved in the goal. Up top, Watt and Cole put in a shift, with a well worked goal as a reward. Could be ok with them if they get some service. So, in summary, an excellent point. A much improved performance with some hope for the coming fixtures. Things to work on; I'd like to see us play a bit further up the pitch when under pressure and be much better with ball retention when we get the chance to come out of a pressure situation.

  14. I’ve seen and heard enough from GA to give him the benefit of the doubt that he knows what we need and where to find it. His knowledge of players in the English lower leagues and how they would fit into whatever system he wants to use is far greater than anyone on here so I trust him to get the right fit for us.

  16. Credit where it’s due today. We looked much more organized and less like a team that was about to crumble (especially against the old firm). It’s the very starting blocks of any side however we have been so rudderless this season that it was a welcome development. It doesn’t hide the fact that we need 3-4 players brought in over the next 2 weeks. Central midfield is a big problem for all the reasons that steelboy mentioned. A striker, centre half, central midfielder and a winger with real quality are a must. Our bench today was so weak. I’m loathed to criticize our younger players however I’m yet to see anything of Maciver to suggest he has a future at the club, Crawford is a squad player at best and it would be best for everyone if Lamie, white and seedorf never wear a Motherwell shirt again. Definite signs of improvement however we’re going to need to win 30% of our remaining fixtures to finish above 11th.

  18. Given how many times we've been burned bringing in strikers with strings of low numbers in their history, I don't think concern over stats like 19 goals in 4.5 years in unreasonable.

  21. Danny Johnson is a league 2 player who couldn't cut it at us or Dundee. I liked him, but the scottish game didn't.

  22. Considering what he is working with that was epic!Could be sitting on 6 points right now after that Madden penalty last week and a dodgy looking offside goal today but what we are seeing is a bit fight, more effort and someone that tactically looks decent!. My only wish is he came in soonier think we be out this mess but onwards and upwards COYW.

  23. Don't get to see many Motherwell games down he in the South of England but really enjoyed that nice to see a couple of ex Brighton players but that's not the reason I watched the game from what I have seen we have tightened up the defence and look a lot tougher to break down but a great point from the team that has almost won the league, we should not be one off the bottom but we can use the last two results as a springboard for the rest of the season

  28. It's down to the midfield to get their foot on the ball. Allan Campbell is continuing his rapid regression and Robbie Crawford looks exactly like the lower league player he is.

  31. We really need to do something about stopping the crosses into the box. We are doing well to prevent them getting forward on the flanks, but when they do, we don't press the cross.

  32. I get the point of working to a set formation . Keep hearing people say 'Well have a strong squad and should be able to get up the table. Our team sheet and subs confirms we'e in the brownest of the brown stuff.

  33. The point? Well for me we've spent the last half a decade or so trying to eradicate hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of debt, and much of that was on favourable terms to people who came up with schemes like Hutchinson's double your money and people who were adding little or nothing in the way of interest. It's to help ensure we never return to such a position. When the team went training the other day they did so to a place to where they need to compete with others to use and have to pay when they do so, over and above what they already do. It's ensure we have training facilities of a standard that we can use when we want without the need to pay more use externally. When they returned from training they did so to a stand that is constructed of wood and requires thousands of pounds spent on it ever year to meet ever more stringent legislation to ensure it can be used. It's to be as prepared as they can be when the day comes that they can simply no longer keep using that stand. That's the point when such sums are accrued. Don't get me wrong I would like to see as much of a budget provided to the manager as possible but it is the board's responsibility to look beyond the current situation whether good or bad and prepare as fully for the future as they can.
