  1. Fuck me, looks like the Alamo at times there! Probably a neat bit of editing as well mind you.

The editing is pretty fair I reckon. I think on reflection, and after seeing highlights, folk will realise how lucky we were to come away with a point. Granted we were organised enough and got enough men behind the ball to stop Celtic having too many clear cut chances however on another day they could have scored 3 or 4 from those positions.

  2. Just read Andrew Westons (guy fay wishaw press) twitter update which says:

Halsman was brought into training from youth set up to cover for Hammell last week.but gannon was so impressed he made him a sub 2day.

Sounds interesting, he didny really put a foot wrong today and looked comfortable on the ball. Must have done well in training to take the step from training with under 19s to coming on against Celtic in the space of a week. Just wondering if anyone has seen him in action before? Where does he tend to play? Could be another to look out for?

  3. Am amazed no one has mentioned the stone waller we were denied today when the Duke was held down by Caldwell (I think) mid way through the second half.

From where I was sitting I thought he had just fell over caldwell who was already on the deck. Would have been a very soft pentaly IMO but I'd need to see the replay to see if he gets held or no.

  4. How many Clean sheets so far this season ?

5 clean sheets in 9 competitive games (excluding europe). No bad!

Think the players were under strict orders not to lunge in today. Meant for some tense moments when I was wondering when anyone was gonnay stick a leg in but the tactic worked, despite Celtics 25 shots we eventually crowded them out nearly every time meaning that they could only get half arsed fluffers in. Also means we've been giving away very few fouls the last few games.

  5. Hard to predict a scoreline because it really depends on which 'well team shows up. Celtic will be resiliant even if they play pish and we've seen some extremes in quality from us this season.

I agree with nethertonwellfan, 3-0 if we play like we've played the last few games.

Hard fought 1-1 draw if we play like we know we can.

  6. BBC are reporting that Hammell may be a doubt while they reckon O'Brien has recovered from his knock against Celtic.

Hope that news about O'Brien is right and the news about Hammell is wrong. Both been integral to oor team lately.

  7. Folk are desparate to booo the now tho!

    "Please let us booooo".

"What are we booooing about today fellow well fan?"

    "Dunno!"

    "Booooo anyway!"

    "Boooooooo Motherwell!"

    "Shiiiite" etc etc etc!

    Aye, Booooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

  8. Correct me if I'm wrong, but has this not now been three seperate injuries that has kept him out for this length of time? I could see your point if it was one bad injury that had been the problem.

If the rumours are correct and it turns out that he's knocking back Motherwells offer for either: a)more money or b)a move to Celtic, would you not agree that would make him arrogant? At 17 thinking that he is worth more money than Forbes, Hutchison, etc or, worse still, thinking that he is too good to stay at 'Well is arrogant in my book. But again, that is only the case if the rumours are correct. As it stands, we have no real reason to believe or disbelieve them. But the longer that contract sits on the table unsigned with no comment coming from Slane or the club, then the more believable they become.

I don't know about the injuries, I was under the impression this was his first real spell out the team. Maybe someone else can clear this up?

As for the rest, there's too much speculation about whats going on or what he's like as a person with very little substance in any of the rumours. Delaying signing the contract doesn't always mean he's after more money. What's best for a player's career might not always be what's best for a their bank book.

You are right though, there's no reason to believe or disbelieve anything just now which is why your blunt post earlier seemed a bit uneccessary and now you seem to be trying to defend it.

  9. I said early indications suggest that he's injury prone. He's missed twice as many games as he's played so far so I think that comment is justified.

I also said a potential unsettling influence. I said potential because that would only be the case if these rumours are true. I don't know any better than you if they are or not.

And I also said he could be classed as arrogant if he's holding out for more money than his peers. But again, neither you or I know if that is the case, but it's natural that people would jump to similar conclusions when a contract offer is left on the table.

Quoting one word per sentence to describe what I said - you should see if Scott can get a job with the Sun!

I wasn't describing what you said. I was quoting what you said. You say he's potentially arrogant and unsettling, I say "says who?".

As for early indications suggesting that he is injury prone, I really have no idea where thats come from. He's injured, not injury prone. If, in 2 seasons time, he's been out for more games than he's played then you can call him injury prone. As far as I'm aware he held a regular place in the under 19s squad over the last few seasons.

  10. Lets get another flag going. I'm thinking along the lines of The World Is Ours, scarface/motherwell theme.

I think since Gary got his photoshop effort turned into a big giant flag it's only fair I get my turn wae ma attempt in the Stevie Hammell thread...

  11. Saunders has been quietly going about his business without the fanfare some of the other young players are getting so it's nice to see him getting some proper recognition.

He's arguably played a more important role than Forbes, Slane, Murphy, Hutchinson or Hately however I don't think he's appreciated the same because he isny skinning folk or scoring goals. Either way he's doin the job so far, keep it up Steven!
