    In's And Out's

I really don't see what the problem is with signing players from leagues which are supposedly below ours. Some excellent SPL players came from the Scottish lower divisions, and Craig Levein seems to do a good job of unearthing these guys without getting stick for it. Last year Falkirk went for some of the better known names from Scotland, like McCan, McNamara, Pressley, and Lovell and we saw how that went. We got Porter and Foran from the English lower leagues, and if you go back a wee while we also got Rab McKinnon from some English club, and I'm sure there are many more. We also have Championship clubs cherry picking some of the best players from the SPL, so I cant see us competing with them for signings. We could sign guys who aren't getting games for their top division clubs, but then they would just be rejects! I mean, we've brought in guys from Man Utd, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Spurs, Birmingham, Man City and Everton (and probably more) in my time, and I don't think we did too well out of that. I'll reserve judgement until I've actually seen these guys play. I couldn't give a toss where they come from, as long as they're good.

    Exclusive: Player #3

We seem to have a thing for pissing off the English wee teams. First Oldham, then Shrewsbury, now Northampton. With four more new signings expected, who else can we collect? I also like our strategy of signing players with posh butler names.

    Hat-tricks

Fererre's was great, with three identical finishes (I think). It is even more special since it turned out he was actually shite. I'm gutted I can't find any video of it online though. Coyne's against Killie was nice, expecially the one he scored from the Kille throw-in. I think that this was also the game that Softie scored a free kick.

    Could it be this guy?
  7. Yep, more evidence that the board of Motherwell FC is actually the Illuminati.
  8. I've been to one reseve game, against hearts at Tynecastle. Mio was there and he bought me a bar of chocolate.

    Can We Do It?

You're excused, but what's a nimron? I only saw the second half and I didn't see much in Flamurtari other than a few breaks on the counter attack. The goal was pretty good, but 9 times out of 10 that would have gone into the stands. The second half wasn't all Flamurtari, that's a blatant lie.
  10. As with most football clubs we've been involved in plenty of rumours which didn't quite come true, and some that supposedly were true but were actually just made up. There's the infamous myths that we actually turned down Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, Sami Hyypia, and Gus Hiddink, when we could never have afforded them in the first place. I'm also sure that we were once linked with Paul Gascoigne, with the deal being he could get half the gate receipts or something, but that may just be my imagination. So what's the most ridiculous MFC rumour you can remember?

    Can We Do It?

If that was the case Jennings could have made the bench in the 2nd leg against Llanelli.

    Can We Do It?

From what I saw of the game we didn't look that bad. We should have put the penalty away (never should have been a pen though), and Sutton had a good chance, so I'm not too discouraged since we have another week for the team to gel and for Gannon to get the guys ready. Most of us would have been happy with a close result considering we didn't know much about the oppositon, and I'm quite confident we'll beat them at our adopted home.

Also, has he not played most of his career at left midfield?
  17. I would like Kosiorowski to start, because he has a foreign name.
  18. How does this compare to the deal that just ended?
  19. Motherwell v Ayr and Greig Denham, can't remembr the year but that one was woeful.
  20. Very cheery indeed! I'm getting mines posted out, as I'm not sure what time I'll be able to get though yet.

All of these guys who have left, or are soon to leave, must have been near the top of our wage structure. Therefore we cant keep them here when it's time for a pay rise, as the structure is there for a reason. Offering Clarkson another 3 years at a little bit more than he's getting already isn't going to work when clubs in the English lower leagues can offer a whole lot more than that. Selling Clarky and Quinn right now is the best we can do, as their value is on'y going to drop as we get closer to January and they can sign on somewhere for nowt. The bright side here is that the new manager will have a clean slate to work with, and wont be inheriting large contracts for players he might not like. We are also in a good posiiton should a new TV deal not materialise, as our liabilities are at a minimum right now.
  22. Exactly, we'll recover. In my time I've seen us lose MacKinnon, Lambert and Burns (big deal to me at the time) as our first Bosmans, then we offloaded McMillan and McCulloch for a bargain price, then ditched our entire squad and still managed to survive (cheers Falkirk ) Then Pearo and McFadden go and somehow we still managed to do well, Foran and Hammell next, and then even the hapless Malpas signed us a gem in McCormack, and we sold him, and Porter, and we're still here. So we'll recover from the loss of Clarky, Quinn, Hughes and Smith, although some of the boo boys wont!! Roll on the next wave of guys we'll sell in a couple of years time. We football fans love transfer activity and speculation, if we kept the same squad year on year it would be hella boring.
  23. I think we can rule out anyone who is currently employed as I really dont see us being able to pay compensation for a manager. Also, us being in Europe isn't going to entice someone away from a championship gig where they'll be getting paid a lot more than we can afford, and will actually have a transfer budget!
  24. He wont be missed. Other managers have got us into Europe and led us to mid-table obscurity in the past, and I'm sure that others will in the future. McGhee has left at a good time, as his stock would probably have fallen after next season due to the loss of some key players and his inability to sign anyone else. We played some exciting football in the first year, but McCormack (nice signing Mr Backpass) and Hughes can take a share of the plaudits there. Porter was also a plus, but the main reason the latter two came to the club was the money offered by our chairman. Mark McGhee was defniitely a good manager, and he showed the benefits of bringning in someone with experience to the job, but he's not the messiah, and I will take a couple of extra losses next year if it means we'll have a less hoorish manager.
