how do you identify a paedophile? you can identify someone who has been convicted of it but not all paedos have been convicted or even accused. there were surely far better ways of getting at mcghee but clearly no one had the wit or desire to think of them.

So you took the paedo chanting from the 'Well fans as being a real accusation? If you did, you're off yer nut.

not really i took as a fairly uninspired chant from a bunch of people who were either drunk, stupid or drunk and stupid.

why give mark mchgee the paedo chant? why not chant it to jim jeffries or lee wallace? i'm like you and i like a bit of atmosphere at the game and saturday could have been a great day for it but the patter was pish. surely for an ex manager that is widely despised amongst a large proportion of our support something more specific and humourous could have been thought up.

if someone was to call someone a long haired ginger c**t and they have long ginger hair and have proven themselves over a long period of time to be capable of some shocking behaviour then that's fair enough ;)

From the Evening Times

MOTHERWELL will issue their fans with warnings before their match with Aberdeen at Fir Park in November to ensure there is no repeat of the abuse of former manager Mark McGhee.

McGhee was subjected to sickening taunts at Pittodrie on Saturday as his Dons team clashed with the Steelmen in a Clydesdale Bank Premier League match.

The former Celtic and Scotland striker left Well in the summer to take over from Jimmy Calderwood as boss at the club he had won the European Cup-Winners' Cup with as a player.

advertisement The actions of a small section of the Motherwell support embarrassed a club renowned for the good behaviour of its followers.

And senior officials are keen to ensure there will be no repeat when Aberdeen play for the first time at Fir Park in the league on Saturday, November 21.

The matter will be discussed at board level and appeals will be issued through the media as well as on the club website and in club publications to ensure the reputation of the club is not tarnished again.

Martin Rose, the chairman of the Motherwell Supporters' Trust and a board member, was disappointed to hear the chants as he sat in the stands at Pittodrie.

He said: "The fact is that in football players and managers come and go and there is always going to be some barracking of them when they face their former club.

"But some of the stuff that went on on Saturday was beyond what could be reasonably expected.

"It was very unfortunate and hopefully it will not happen again.

"Mark McGhee had relative success during his two seasons as manager of Motherwell and it is disappointing that he was subjected to the level of abuse he was at Pittodrie on Saturday."
