I think this has been a good debate also. I think there are people who made their minds up about Robinson within days of his appointment, perhaps even beforehand and no matter what he presides over it is never going to be enough. We will never have a perfect squad balance because it will always too little or many few of this or that position. Why are we signing English players when there are Scots around? Why are we signing overpriced Scots when there are bargains elsewhere? Why are we playing too many or not enough youths because the results aren't what I demand? The recent attempts to play down the runs to both Cup Finals because we happened to benefit from an own goal or a penalty along the way is typical of of such cringe worthy stuff for example. Jesus, this is the kind of stuff you expect opposition fans to be hitting you with not your own! In short he's never going to win with some, whatever he does will be always be wrong and comments from such posters should be viewed in that context. But the debate about style of play and the results is definitely worthy of the scrutiny it's currently getting. And the more edgy people get the more focus it's going to receive. I was delighted with last season and the outcomes. An improvement on league position and two Cup Finals is not to be sniffed at even if the performances were less than silky more often than not. Go on to any forum in the country and you'll see supporters make claims about forgiving results and performances if they see a committed team giving 100% for the cause. Well we got that, many of us quietly enjoyed the fact we were no longer viewed as pushovers, and some and we had some very good days along the way to boot. But as with any "new" style or identity that a team adopts in Scotland (I think back to Billy Davies for example and his swashbuckling four attacking front men lining up with the likes of Twaddle-Spencer-Goodman-Townsley) and they get sussed all too quickly. Robinsons' side is no different. The nature of the small league with repetitive nature of the fixtures means you can't keep a style a secret for long and variations verging on evolution in style, not to mention alternatives, are required before you become overly predictable. There is also the fact that if the bulk of the squad are hearing the same message over and over again and again it is only natural the group will switch off and the message will lose its impact over time. It's still early days in the season but I think there is a danger that it could be happening now. I had hoped that the summer would have seen a gradual shift to something more easy on the eye. It hasn't emerged as yet but I retain a hope, perhaps an increasingly foolhardy hope admittedly, that an evolution in our style of play does remain possible. We do have players that enable us to play a more possession based game. I don't want to pitch a 19 or 20 year old as the saviour of season but it's difficult to think back to David Turnbull at Firhill and against Hamilton and not think that the way his plays the game would not be of benefit to us currently. Even if Robinson continued with his (and I still say not unreasonable) desire of putting balls into the box from wide, the presence of Turnbull in distributing the ball around the pitch in his tidy and efficient manner would surely help those in the wide positions get more deliveries of a type that will cause problems rather than the increasingly visionless hit and hope balls into the box. Add in Tanner who was as good as he had been in his Motherwell career before his injury struck, Bigi on his day and Rodriguez-Gorrin when he gets up to speed and there is some hope of more creative blend. Quite what position we'll be in when Tanner returns I don't know but whether we persist with the current set up or begin to deviate from Plan A a bit more over the following games I hope things change for the better quickly, or perhaps there genuinely will be a question for those on the board to consider a lot sooner than they might have believed possible.3 points

Many will feel their concerns about the summer recruitment being vindicated after that absolute horror show today. The decision to not address the glaringly obvious areas for attention in the starting 11 and spunk the budget on bench fillers of unknown or questionable quality, and that’s before you factor in the eye bleeding (not to mention completely ineffective) tactics and utterly bizarre substitutions is going to cost Robinson his job, our probably our premier league status due the new guy having zero wriggle room to change anything due the bloated squad that’s been assembled all being under contract. The men in charge of the purse strings need to be held accountable for sanctioning this approach also. I fully expect us to be pointless after 7 games and adrift.3 points

REM Everybody Hurts on the PA. Are we not trying to prevent suicide?3 points

I'm not saying sack the manger but if you think its about two league games you are way off. We are talking about 10 months of utter guff. Anyone paying any attention shouldn't be surprised by the start we've made.2 points

Main lasted 90 because he was getting on the end of chances. Robinson threw that game with his subs. We were dominating the game and pressing for a goal then Robbo blows it to bits switching to a 3-4-3. Suddenly Accies could win the ball in the middle and get a pass forward. Then our defence just buckled. Peter Hartley might be a write off. 2 weeks in a row a striker has ghosted past him and its lead to a goal. Conor Sammon did nothing for me. If anyone deserved to be hooked it was him. He should have been off for Johnson instead of Campbell. And really that is the attacking depth issue, there is no attacking midfielder on the bench to come on, all we have is throwing a striker out of position.2 points

So is the game patg or all ticket a stupid question now....what an arsehole you are2 points

Robinson deserves at least a little time to try and sort things out. The success of last season surely buys him that? Let's see where we are after the first round of fixtures. Anyone coming in will have to work with what we have, so changing before the end of the transfer window " to give the new manager a chance of building their own squad" is not an option. We have no cash and who is going to take our cast offs? The uncomfortable truth is that the two players who made our squad a little bit better than the rest, Moult and Kipre, have left, and, not surprisingly, they have been difficult to replace. Throw in a few injuries, Dunne, Bowman, Hartley, Tanner, and we are down amongst the dregs of the division, already fighting for survival.1 point

Nope .It wasn’t all Bigis fault . Most of the team were 4-5/10 at best . But the idea that by introducing bigi would solve our problems is delusional. Very average midfield player imo . For centre of midfield . No chance . We hang our jacket on him coming in and turning us into a passing team . Not for me1 point

Yip credit where credits due Managers watches utter huff ball for 60 minutes and makes 2 subs and somehow makes the team worse How many do you think will be back to watch football like what was on show today1 point

The thing is far and away our best performance over that whole period was when the first team was rested for the cup final and other players - including Maguire, Turnbull and Maclean were brought in. Our youth team plays football that's miles ahead of our senior side.1 point

Having slagged off Sammon when we signed him , I watched him closely throughout the 90 mins today to see if I was being too hard on the guy ....and after that performance I haven’t changed my mind . .workrate is zero , first touch poor , jumping for a ball is a joke for a big guy . . How he lasted the full game only the gaffer can answer that . I would go as far as to say if Robinson continues to rely on Sammon to lead the line this season Sammon will have his 2 nd relegation in a row and Robinson will be binned.1 point

So we fluked two cup finals beating Aberdeen, Rangers and Hearts along the way? You can spin things any way you like if you want to. I will not pretend that we have had a good start to the season and I agree that the style of football could be greatly improved but to write off two cup finals and a 7th place finish last season suggests to me that expectation is unrealistically high.1 point

Worst display I've seen. Watched cup ģames but didn't see the Hibs game. Thought the performances in the Cup were not up to much considering the opposition and thought we would have to up the performances in the league. Today's game was terrible, I find it difficult to pick anything good to say about anyone. We really have to do something to alter our style of play, more time spent punting ball forward with absolutely nothing to show from it.. I've watched the Well for almost 60 years and can honestly say this is the worst footballing side ever. Quite honestly to call themselves footballers is a joke and against advertising standards.1 point

Most of the cup games involved us being gifted goals. Four howlers from Aberdeen. An OG and a goalie mistake from Hearts. A penalty and an OG from Accies. Two goalie mistakes from Hearts. We didn't deserve to lose any of those games but we were given huge luck in winning them. In pretty much any game where we aren't gifted the opening goal we struggle badly.1 point

Just to be clear, we're allowed to disregard league games that we won because they were before a cup final, but actual cup games won against other Premiership teams don't count?1 point

Yes it might be time for a change of manager. Our league form and our style of play is unacceptable.1 point

About 4500 Well fans at the game today. Disappointing thing is this will dwindle dramatically watching that shite aswell. Also only 360 ish Accies fans. Not a crowd wank at all but that is brutal.1 point

She just said that Inverness had scored a penalty. It literally took her 5 minutes to come back on and say that it had actually gone past the post! How the fuck do you miss if a penalty was scored or not??1 point

I guess its a bit early to judge so far. Bear in mind the LC games are pretty much pre-season friendlies and fitness excercises and our first game of season was V a strong Hibs team (And with a depleted team). Give it a few games and see how things pan out - Even then one of our imminent games is against a buoyant Rangers. Of course everyone would prefer to see a bit of flair and attcking football, but the shitfesting so far has resulted in 2 cup finals and avoiding relegation fairly comfortably - This for me, is the priority here. We *appear* stonger up front (Excl Moult obv) and I Johnson could turn out to be a decent piece of business - Certainly looks a level above what Bowman was after a few games.1 point

I'm posting as someone who probably sits centre-happyclap on the spectrum of fan excellence: While I too cant quite see the plan with the new signings, I'm not going to join in the debate as I agree with those that have pointed out we need to see them get a run first. I am however viewing this game as the 6th of our campaign and my concern so far is that last year's core group simply haven't been anywhere near where we know they can be. We've had spells during games of individuals being decent, but the reality is we've had on paper, strong starting 11s out each game and struggled to play effective football. Whether it's 'hoofball' or total football, I don't care. As long as its effective. A few have cited two cup finals as reasons to stay calm. My worry is that the main attributes that got us there (fight, fitness and guile) are nowhere to be seen just now. I've seen us 5 times this season and I simply don't know what the plan is supposed to be.1 point

Looks like a draw to me, unless Accies are as awful as I hope they are. Any real confidence I currently have is based on the sincere hope that Accies, Livi, St Midden and the ‘Dee are more shite than we appear to be.1 point

These were teams managed by John Hughes - right? Granted Falkirk were relatively successful in that period but they certainly didn't play good football. That was100% a media inspired myth. I watched them on several occasions in that period and not once did I see them play entertaining football. On at least 2 occasions they reminded me of a team of thugs. Even Falkirk fans were bemused at this media label. Hibs paid far higher wages than us and have done for years. Last season Dundee were widely lauded as being one of the most cultured/attractive sides in the Premiership but I have to say I saw very little evidence of it. In the cup game at Dens they looked a brutal (in the traditional sense) and undisciplined lot, but that side of their character, of course, was never publicised.1 point

No offence Weeyin but open your eyes ! How can a constant stream of criticism based on signings so far and style of play not be deemed as negative. We are one game into the league season. ONE-game. Now we may have a shite season and we may be fighting a relegation battle and we may get knocked out of the cups early. And u know what if all of that happens I will be as pissed off and miserable as everyone else. But at least I will wait to see before p1ssing my pants before a ball has hardly been kicked. I think I will give this place a wide berth for a while. Depresses the fuck out of me.........1 point

Jesus wept. Donnelly and Dunne give cover for Right Back/Left Back and McHugh is seen as a midfielder by himself and his manager.........your comment is like stats i.e. skewed to try and support your argument. Mbulu will also be going into the Reserves in the first instance and may never play in the first team. The people moaning now would be the same people moaning if we lots two Centre Backs to long term we injury and had no cover. How about we just wait and see how the first 5-6 games go before rushing to chastise a manager who has delivered relative success for our budget!1 point

We've just finished the group stages of the Friendlies League Cup and played one league game, just the one. Quite a few of new lads are still gaing fitness. Lets wait until January at the earliest and preferably May next year until we make that judgement.1 point
