  1. When we are 'safe' I tend to miss some games/pick and choose but when we are in the sh#t I always go. Bit of a masochist I know, but no matter how bad we get, when the chips are down I just feel we got to support our club. Sent from my SM-A320FL using Tapatalk

  4. Not every move out the club will generate us a wadge of cash. We have taken advantge of the transfer rules many times (like getting Chris Porter on a free) and done some great deals (Ojamaa and Anier for example). We even managed to get money for Moult from PNE when he could have signed a pre-contract and gone for free. Not to mention the deals we got for guys like Henighan and Hall. So if, once in a while it doesn't work out to our full advantage, we can't complain too much.

  5. I think the posters here are secret members of the SFA from the "Aye, but" school of player development. If we don't think we can learn from a Spanish club who has graduated at least 2 players per season from the academy in the past 5 years, then we should just give up. It doesn't matter where the players came from, it matters how they made sure their talent was nurtured along the way.

  6. Bits and pieces of football being played tonight but we don't have enough footballers in the team to take advantage of any opportunities, on the balance of play we are the better team but a one goal lead leaves me with no particular confidence.

  7. To me the funny part was how he states we have youngsters who can improve us but he doesn’t want to bring them in to harm the development. Eh if they improve us then play them FFS.

  8. Same interview he’s been giving most of the season and I stopped listening/reading weeks ago as none of reflects the reality of what we’ve been watching. If him and Main honestly believe what they’re saying then our predicament is worse than I feared. That could well be his last post match interview for us and I must admit that doesn’t bother me.

  9. Aye, that too. I was just hoping it was a public relations spiel while he changes things behind the scenes. Unlikely, I know.

  10. Would be quite nice to see us line up 4-4-2. Cadden playing right mid with Tait behind him. Would imagine we might see a different Cadden....

  11. But it's a complete misnomer to say that because a player didn't make after being misdeveloped and released during the most crucial period of their careers that they wouldn't have made it if they had been given better exposure to first team football. We have had good players leave this club aged 21 or 22 with less than half a dozen first team starts. The way our youth development links up with the first team stinks and the way most youth development systems link up with first teams stinks right across the country. Out of 22 players we've used in league matches this season only 6 of them are Scottish and only 3 of them were developed by the club. Dundee have used 24 players, only 7 of them are Scottish and only 3 of them were developed by the club. The pattern is repeated across the rest of the league. St. Mirren 24 players, 13 Scots. Hamilton 26 players, 10 Scots. The Hearts v Celtic league cup semi final had 6 Scots in the starting 22 players. If you include the Aberdeen v Rangers semi final it was 15 players out of 44. The league is filled with imported dross while youth players get released left, right and centre. Youth development in this country is atrocious and it's the single biggest reason for the catastrophic decline of quality in the league and our European and International failures. Things HAVE to change.

  12. The fact that every player there still has a pro contract is a great outcome for a youth team. Long is starting for East Fife. Watt was reported to have signed for a team in Croatia. Ferguson is at Ayr but not playing. Hall is on loan at Notts County from Brighton. Mackin is at Falkirk. Dom Thomas is on loan at Dumbarton from Killie. I doubt if you were to look at the Hearts, Rangers or Celtic teams from the same competition they would be doing as well.
