Hi there, My name is Sean. You may have seen me on the video the club put out a few weeks back: I'm new to the area and new to the club and have set myself the task of tracking down the Motherwell kits from 1991 onwards. I'm documenting my progress over on Instagram if you want to give me a follow - https://www.instagram.com/steelmansean/ Always on the lookout for kits (especially the Hummel home & away and the black Pony away kit), so give us a shout if you are willing to part with any. Likewise, if there's any kit you are trying to track down yourselves, do let me know and I'll keep an eye out! Thanks, Sean5 points

I think everyone knows that we have to give all of the new signings a chance, but this idea that any criticism of them based on their career to this point should be off the table is getting tedious. How boring would the place be if everyone just responded to a new signing by saying "great, I trust the managers judgement, let's see how this new guy gets on." It's natural to see a new signing and immediately look at where he's been before and what he's accomplished. Is that a cast-iron indication of how he'll do for us? Absolutely not, but to completely dismiss it as not worth discussing is mental. Personally, I'm not impressed by this guys career to this point. It's a signing that has me scratching my head a bit, as I'm fairly sure there are players available in Scotland for similar money who have a better track record. In fact, even though playing with a lone striker isn't really playing to Danny Johnson's strengths I'd have more confidence in him than this new guy based on what they've both done in the past. Johnson can score goals for us if given the chance, he's done it before. Now, just to clarify, this isn't me not "giving the new guy a chance," it's me, as a fan, looking at what he's done until now and forming an opinion. That opinion will change as he gets chances to play for us, and obviously I hope he turns out to be a superstar.3 points

Manzinga - what a name. He could be absolute shite, but to have a player who sounds like a porn star is a new high for Motherwell. We are also assembling quite easily the coolest looking squad in the division. Key move was to get rid of the ginger and bring in the Zinga!1 point

As a supporter of the new away top my one slight disappointment is that we didn’t take the opportunity to reinstate the full hoop that remained unbroken between 1928-1969. I’m hopeful that this once traditional feature will one day become the norm again.1 point

1. Who’s this polsworth guy he seems pretty poor man that’s 2 people said that. 2. That new guy we signed LIAM POLWORTH is a tidy little player I like the look of he was excellent vs Morton, got stuck in and very nice on the eye when in possession.1 point

Tbf started one with Motherwell over the summer signing all the new players, managed to win the lot in my first year (no clue how). Signed the new lot and they’ve did me decent in Champ League group stage and won me the betfred. Still to sign Manzinga but.1 point

I always laugh at how any player we sign is written off by some before kicking a ball. Remember most signings are freebies and on one or two year deals. Yes some won't work but we have made good money on Marvin j...heneghan....anier....Louis. look at old firm.....lafferty and commper bought for 700k and a million and sold for hee haw. COYW. Ps. A full post without a corny joke!!!!...jeez heat must be getting to me1 point

Audio only. (MFC TV uses the live broadcast feed from BT Sport or the BBC that is being sent back to the studio - so we only get to see video when one of those companies is at the game).1 point

Not fussed re Johnson however I do think he will score a barrow load in the Championship. I am more annoyed re losing McAlear. Potential to be a top player and we won’t get to see him in claret and amber. In saying that look at recent youngsters who potentially moved down south early, Hall, Leitch and even the lad mentioned recently Leighton. All of them now looking for clubs or playing in lower leagues (Leitch). Would they have been better served staying here and getting some more game time. Arguably yes. Feel like another wasted chance.1 point

Johnson has been a bit unlucky. He obviously has an eye for goal, but our chosen formation never really suited him and he is never going to be a hard working, target man. I think a move is best for both parties (and we still have his opener against Rangers and closer against Celtic to look back on). Reading the press release about Mazinga, is does sound like he's not the first choice forward Robinson had talked about - of course, we might not be able to find one of those during the window.1 point

More than anything, I think this is just circumstances changing a bit. With Johnson away, we appear to have picked up a low cost forward option who seems to be better suited to how we play while still keeping space and money for the “starter,” that was mentioned.1 point

Reece McAlear has left Motherwell to join Norwich City on a permanent basis, subject to international clearance. The 17-year-old will join the East Anglian side after 13 months as a professional at Fir Park. Motherwell tried to secure the player on a longer contract during the summer, but it was clear that any extended stay beyond May 2020 was extremely unlikely. Despite that, several approaches from Norwich were rejected, before terms were finally agreed on a deal which gives the club a short-term cash injection, coupled with the ability to claim future money should the player develop further. “It is very much our hope that the player development pathway we provide at Motherwell results in our academy graduates progressing to professional level, then eventually into the first team,” chief executive Alan Burrows explained. “We had high hopes for Reece. He was getting closer and closer and indeed, played several first-team friendly matches during pre-season. We had positive conversations with the player, his family and his representatives about extending his stay. “However, it was clear this was an opportunity Reece wanted to explore and probably would’ve explored, when his contract expired at the end of the season, had we not managed to agree a deal with Norwich now. “This will see the club secure cash in advance, as well as maintaining some economic rights should his career continue to develop. “It also demonstrates clearly the excellent work of our scouting and coaching staff, and further emphasises Motherwell as the club for young footballers to progress.” Everyone at Motherwell FC would like to thank Reece for his time at Fir Park and wish him every success in his future career.1 point

Dougie Arnott was signed from Pollok Juniors was he not? Sometimes a club just fits and everyone has to start somewhere.1 point

Spot on! It isn't being negative it's just giving a bloody opinion. This is the same folk that were telling us not to base any sort of opinion on Curtis Main's goal scoring record, look how that turned out. I think its perfectly fair for fans to pass comment on a player based on what he has done so far in his career. It clearly isn't an exact science but most of the time you can judge a player roughly by what he has done so far. Personally speaking I'm not overly concerned about this one as I think he sounds more like a low cost punt than anything else, I can't imagine he is going to be on any great deal of money. It sounds like we will be looking to bring in another more experienced striker soon so I'm okay with this. With that being said I can totally understand some of the comments about the boy coming from an amateur level.1 point

I saw a photo from the Hearts v Stenhousemuir game the other night and the Stenhousemuir away top is a cracker that I don't think many on here would object to us having. Unfortunately I don't know how to post photos but I think it was on the BBC website round-up if anyone can put it up.1 point

Just popped in for my periodical visit to enjoy the usual unbridled joy and optimism at our latest signing and , as ever , I've not been disappointed . Obviously Manzinga's pedigree and track record to date is somewhat questionable and uninspiring , but before him we have had Moult , Johnson and Kipre , from Wrexham , Kidderminster and Leicester u23's respectively and none of them worked out too badly . Sometimes a player just needs the right environment and coaching to find their spark and begin to fulfill their potential . I doubt very much that the coaching staff in any way have him pencilled in as our first pick number 9 and main goalscoring threat , more likely a low cost punt who may , just may , click in our setup ( both on and off the pitch ) and kick on to fulfill the early promise seen in him by a very prestigious European club . Moult , remember , was originally behind Wes Fletcher in the pecking order to start with , but grabbed his chance with both hands and became our most prolific striker in a long time and landed us a sizeable transfer fee , whilst Fletcher faded back to anonymity in the Welsh leagues . For the moment I will trust the judgement of the management and scouting team , and hope that his signing works out well and he is a valuable addition to the squad . Welcome young man , and best of luck .1 point
