  1. Eh? He has had a couple of bad games. He has been outstanding for about a year and a half!

  2. We are actually still 3rd in the league with one of the smallest budgets and above Aberdeen, Hearts, and Hibs. We are certainly on a poor run but if his signings are as bad as some are making out why are we not bottom ? Some perspective maybe ?

  3. In response to your first paragraph we also have the same option to suss out the opposition teams and exploit their weaknesses but apparently they do it better than us.

  4. Every time we get beat we get the comment that something bad is going on in the background. Perhaps after 12 months of decent results, we are now having a bad run, just like what happens to every other team in the league. Confidence, form and hunger seems to be the only thing between the majority of teams.

  5. If your boss is screaming at you ever day it effects you. If your boss wants you to do something and you have a different idea it effects you. If things aren't going well and you don't feel your manager is supporting you properly it effects you. There loads of different things that can effect you in a working relationship. I'm not claiming to know anything, but my instinct is that something is going on behind the scenes. Too many players have gone to shit at the same time over a sustained period for this just to be inconsistency or lack of confidence. Players just don't look interested and as others have said don't even look match fit.

  6. I keep reading this point about Carson deserving to play just because he's signed a new contract. Let's apply that logic to all the other players in that squad currently and see how many players you have to pick from for the Ross County game. Gillespie's admittedly poor distribution is miles down the list of issues we have currently. He routinely pulls off at least one cracking save a game and in no way deserves to be dropped.

  7. "The money is on. Time to start playing."?

  8. Gillespie is not the reason we are on a bad run. Distribution not great but I am more concerned about goalies making saves. Carson will be back in starting line up next season anyway and hopefully back to the way he was

  9. Credit has run out and which young players have made a breakthrough this season?Back to the budget again its down to Robinson to sign players he thinks he can coach to be better and on that front he has failed miserably he has wasted the budget on pure dross

  10. Robbo is a burst flush, other managers see through him now and can tactically out think him. Allied with poor recruitment in the summer bar Polworth and Gallagher. As for Carroll, he's no loss for me, he constantly turned back the way whenever on the ball and it just shows we should have been scouring the lower leagues North and South to have a decent you left back to provide cover as Taity is not the answer and gets slated. He is a solid right back and being hung out to dry. Only a returning Turnbull can save the Euro dream....no pressure (but also sign a contract extension or we'll end up with the derisory £1m for the risk Smellic are taking on him)

  11. They are hindered by playing on their bad side.

  12. His insistence on trying to beat his man again and again until he’s crowded out is infuriating to say the least. Last night he was in a good position to cross a few times. Aarons not much better on that front. I thought the game was passing O’hara by.

  13. Lamie has always impressed me any time I've seen him. Strong, quick and dangerous at set-pieces. Reckon he would be a good addition.

  14. Heh he well remembered Andy. I am still gutted big Alex Fisher left. I do want Hylton to do well as I do all of our players but I have yet to be impressed. Mind you still an improvement on Frear. COYW

  15. I don't think the formation is the big issue. Aberdeen and Rangers were both totally reliant on the number 9 scoring and when that dried up they went downhill. We were sharing the goals around but without any regular scorer you are always likely to regress. We needed a centre forward who could score AND Scott to kick on and we went on to sell Scott and brought in Ndjoli and Watt. Robinson hasn't signed a regular scorer in five transfer windows. It's a glaring flaw.

  16. You could have Dunne at left back. I'm not a fan of Dunne but I'd prefer him in the side and 4 at the back than 3 at the back. At right back you have a choice of Tait, Grimshaw and Donnelly. At centre back you have Gallagher and one of Hartley, Mugabi and Donnelly. I'd have Maguire in because I think he is a good player and deserves a chance and have him play with Campbell in the middle and have O'Hara on the right and Aarons on the left. Then I'd have Watt and Long playing up front as traditional strikers. To me that's as solid as we get right now.

  17. Mentioned that previously and you could also throw Aberdeen in there too who play 4-3-3 sometimes. I think the problems are bigger than one thing so its not a case of changing formation and everything will be fine again, last night proved that, but I do think if you play the same formation week in, week out against teams 3, 4, 5 times a season you are going to get found out and that highlights one of Robinson's biggest flaws - his lack of a plan B. You can see it in us as regards formation and you can see it in the players he's brought to the club. He doesn't have the foresight or vision to see that we might need to change things until we are deep in a hole. His changes have come from desperation not from cool judgement. I do think the players have to have a look at themselves. Tait saying after the match "They wanted it more" really irked me. Robinson also mentioned that he'd screamed at the players plenty times but would have to start trying to build confidence. I just don't think it's a happy camp right now and that our plunge in form, the word 'drop' doesn't cover it, since Robinson's arrest went public can't just be dismissed as a coincidence.

  18. Donnelly is suspended for the next 2, we better hope O’Hara is fit or Davie might need to play more than we’d like.......

  19. One big question I have is, did the squad actually do any "work" in the break, or was it a wee piss up holiday to Tenerife? Genuine question, because our fitness this season has been nothing more than ok, but since January its been alarmingly poor

  20. In the cold light of day, two wins from the next two are an absolute must. We have been utterly shite since the second half against Hamilton at new year. The Alarming drop in form from half time that day hasn’t picked up since. There are clearly issues surrounding the fact of not replacing Cole and Scott and the ability to high/long and have an out-ball which those two gave us. Unfortunately, the vast majority of our summer signings have proven to be completely shite. The calibre/mentality of players like Hylton, Lomg, Seedorf and Illic won’t have the ability or drive to dig us out a hole whilst players like Campbell have gone backwards big time from playing simply too many games and getting ground down. For me, Robinson’s jacket should be on a very shoogely peg at the moment. I understand we might not be able to attract top quality however setting us up to be very difficult to beat when the going gets tough or making sure we give absolute maximum in 90 minutes are both the responsibility of the manager and that has been sorely lacking in the past two months.

  21. Looking at the season as a whole, of course it's not been terrible. Problem is momentum. If a couple of the wins we had in the first half of the season had come in the last month, it wouldn't feel quite so grim as it does at the minute. Going into March, we haven't won a home league game since the 7th December. In the five home league games since then we've scored two goals, one of them a penalty. The majority of fans don't go to away games, so most of our support have not seen us win in nearly three months and have hardly seen us score a goal. A fair bit of negativity is to be expected. We may well finish in the top six but if our form doesn't pick up, will anyone relish seeing those final five games against the better teams? Financially good for the club, it may be but dispiriting to watch...

  22. So, after tonight's performance, what is next seasons relegation battle looking like? Carson - decent keeper, glad to have him onboard. Gillespie - have to assume he will be gone. Tait - has struggled, but his experience could be vital. Got to play him in the right position though. Gallagher - a saleable asset, so any half decent offer will see him gone. Has been great for us, so hard to replace. Hartley - looks done, should be gone. Dunne - will be interesting to see how he does after long term injury, but worth keeping. Maguire - his lack of opportunity seems to suggest he will be freed when his contract is up. Carroll - has been decent for us, hopefully comes back well from his injury. Donnelly - not the player he looked at the beginning of the season, but all squads need journeymen who cover more than one position. Mugabi - doesn't look like he has the goods to make it at our level. The only thing currently keeping him at Fir Park next season is the length of his contract. Grimshaw - great attitude, journeyman player. Would keep around for now. Polworth - has talent, need to find a way to use it to our best advantage. Another keeper. Campbell - probably needs a rest, but a better than decent player on his day. Turnbull - depending on how the rest of this season goes and whether he extends his contract, but I can see us trying to cash him in this summer. Long - some talent, but does he want to be here? I think he will be gone. Hylton - better than Seedirf, but not good enough for this league. Seedorf - just not good enough, see yah! MacIver - too young and inexperienced to tell. I'd keep him as a work in progress. Ilic - if he cannot get into the team now, what is the point? Bye. Mazinga - see Seedorf. Watt - here on a short term deal so not sure if he will want to stick around. He is basically on a long term trial till the end of the season, and if he does really well, someone with more money will pick him up. Ferguson - back from loan in N Ireland. We will need cover for Carson if he fancies the job. As for the players we have on loan, I'd try my damnedest to get O'Hara on a permanent deal, the others can close the door on their way out. Missed anyone? So, a bit of a clear out and rebuild, but it is ever thus, and we are not completely bereft of talent. We will need to spend any Gallagher/Turnbull money wisely though, and we have to find a striker or two from somewhere.

  23. Taking a deep breath here, at the start of the season and someone offered us to be in 3rd with 10 games to go I would have took it. I think the manager has a lot to answer for. People out of position, player in the wrong positions, players on the park that shouldn’t be anywhere near our team. Struggling big time

  24. 10 points ahead of Killie in 7th and 15 points left to play for before the split. We have to think there will noT be enough of a swing for us to drop into 7th, so it’s just a case of trying to hang in there and then maybe once in the split we can still be in the hunt. As another poster said all the other teams are inconsistent and will take points of each other. The hope is that Turnbull coming back might inject some life into the team. I’m worried about Robinson though as he has the feel of an manager running out of ideas and there is a hint of desperation about what he is doing at the moment.

  25. The really worrying thing is 1 goal in open play in the last 6 league matches. Never looked like scoring tonight if it hadn't been for the penalty.

  26. Robbo is more than meeting his remit (don't get relegated and sell as many players as we can) and is in no danger of losing his job. It feels weird being down on the team considering where we are in the league, but our total capitulation since Christmas has been terrible to watch.

  28. We've lost the plot up front since we sold Scott. Of course he blew hot and cold, but offered something we haven't been able to replace so far.
