  1. I’m going for a 9/10 for Robbo. He came in at a difficult time and stabilised us when relegation looked likely. Two cup finals and if I remember right a top six . Then eighth place followed by this seasons third . All done by getting in players who lost there way and mixing it with players from youth . All done on a shoestring budget unlike McGhee or McCall had under Leanne Dempsters reign . Has he made mistakes . Of course but he admits it and rectified it by changing it . Probably not got the same charisma as McGhee or McCall but who cares about that . Really hope he stays for the Europa competition . Think if he gets a chance he could do ok as apparently highly rated technically . For any body out there who doesn’t rate him fair enough . Everyone is entitled to there opinion but all I would say is be careful what you wish for . Been going to FP for over 50 years now since Boddy Howitt was manager and have seen them all come and go . Many of them high profile and legends in there own heads . Robbo brings stability structure and technical knowledge as well as honesty so he’ll do for me . Would love him to be manager for foreseeable future .

  2. Thats the crux of it for me. This isnt done to "fool" Clubs or Agents so what does it actually achieve? Ive been a Well supporter all my life, I was at Hampden as a 10 year old Kid in 1991, at every cup final, had season tickets and even followed the team away in Europe and Im getting scunnered with the continual pleads of poverty. If Im feeling like that I can only imagine how that can/will affect more casual fans. What incentive is there for a Casual fan or a novice looking for a Club to support tocome see us? Instead of thinking "hey thats a great achievement from the Well, I think Il pop down to Fir Park next season and give them some support" its now more like " thats some achievement from the Well, pity they are skint and will lose their best players next year, oh well" Sometimes its like the guys in charge actively look to make our club look miserable as fuck. This season (clearing our Debt, Finishing 3rd in the League, Developing & selling another 2 Highly Rated kids Down South) is something the Club, and town should be proud of, especially at these times! Why do we immediately need to bring money into it and drag it down?

  4. Lowering supporter expectations while reminding other clubs we can’t afford to pay transfer fees.

  5. I can see this from both sides. If you'll pardon the pun you can only go to the well so many times and when there is a relatively limited number of us it is understandable that people may become weary of the message and stop listening. But that's not to say that the contents of the message is incorrect. Going back to the AGM for example I remember it being said that whilst the playing budget was raised for this season it was still reckoned to be second or third lowest in the league. Whilst they had reached a position where debts to former owner and directors were paid off they were still balancing the annual running of the club whilst trying to build some longer term contingency for bad seasons. Some times the message just isn't what we might want to hear. But I do think there's a fairly regular effort to "condition" supporters about the finances from both Robinson and the board so there isn't any complacency and people are still encouraged to join and continue to donate to the Well Society and are aware of the operating model. And to have the effect, or at least attempt to have the effect, of playing expectations down publicly too.

  6. Hard to say without knowing the budgets of previous managers but since the setanta tv collapse right up there . Tommy McLean built up a good squad but took him longer than it’s taken Robbo to do it . Willie McLean also did well without much to show for it . They weren’t without there critics either . Robbo has progressed as a manager every year he’s been at FP and I believe there’s more to come from him . That’s why I’d be delighted to see him stay . He’s a good fit for the club and passes all the criteria needed to manage a club of our size/structure . Trust me we’ve seem some rockets come and go but just feel we’ve got a rough diamond who can really push us on with the help of the board

  7. Aye, I was thinking the same myself. Back of a fag packet calculation: At best we'd have had 4 home games left this season. Our average crowd this season has been officially clocked at 5, 574. so let's be generous and say we maintained that average. If we have 4,000 season ticket holders, then we have their gate money already. So staying in a generous mood, if we had 1,500 paying punters at an average of £20 a game over those 4 games, that would be £120,000 in gate money we lose out on. There would be a loss for hospitality, pies, programmes etc, but a saving on police, stewarding and other staffing. Our prize money for finishing 3rd is something like £2.06 million. So even if we had budgeted on finishing 6th, that's and extra £500k than we anticipated and should exceed the loss of income from those last 4 games. I understand that there is uncertainty over the income from the upcoming season, but the Sky contract means overall the prize money should increase. And given that one of the main reasons clubs wanted to call the season now was to make sure next season's TV money was protected, it's not unreasonable to think that will be the case. I'm certainly not suggesting we should be set £100s on fire, or splashing out on mega contracts, but the "we're skint" spiel is a bit old and tired.

  8. An easy 8/10 for me. We are likely to lose him to a bigger club at some stage in my view.
