  1. I have to agree with this, but I do think that Motherwell seem to be technically poorer than most of the other teams in the league. Just watching that game today it was clear that St Johnstone can pass and move better and do so with more pace than Mothewell. Our game is typified by slow movement of the ball, a lack of movement off the ball and multi-touch/mis-control. All of this gives the opposition more time to react and organise making it very difficult for us to create meaningful chances for our front players, and when those slow passes are made in a backwards direction, it places pressure on our back line ultimately resulting to the loss of goals. Basically, we need to be technically better.

  2. We're dredging up this type of performance far too often with a win or two in between papering over the cracks. I don't even feel anger anymore as I've become accustomed to this pish. Not good enough.

  3. That was the most abject performance of the season. Sluggish and nervous at the back; lacking guile, skill and drive in midfield; indifferent and without sharpness, grit or focus up front. We surrendered to a completely average team who only had to be mediocre to turn a game from being a goal down to a victory that was surrendered up long before the final whistle. And my optimism got the better of me regarding Lamie. He’ll never do

  4. I dont think as a club we should be sacking a manager when we are sitting 8th regardless of a cup exit. I'm not defending him, I criticised him earlier in the thread but no sacking needed just yet.

  5. Not overly amused at that Cup exit. Nobody likes a defeat at any time but going out a Cup competition with barely a whimper tends to irk more than most. The performance wasn't there last week according to Mark O'Hara so I'd be interested to see what he made of today as it was even more poor than in Perth. And yet half an hour to go you find yourself ahead. Deserved or otherwise. Don't do anything daft, St Johnstone are hardly battering down to the door themselves. See it out. But no. It's difficult to have a great amount of sympathy when you are in winning positions two weeks in succession St Johnstone, a team of the ilk that if you are going to do anything, you need to be seeing off, and we can't hold leads in either of them. Lamie hasn't overly impressed when played at left-back so his introduction immediately raised eyebrows and his involvement unfortunately proved those held fears to be well founded. The second goal hardly covered ourselves in glory either. And after that, absolutely nothing. That you can't make much of an argument to say that St Johnstone didn't deserve the win says it all. The only consolation is that there's one less fixture to cram in next month. That's it, that's the highlight of our League Cup campaign, one game less to play. Poor stuff.

  7. I don’t think the club are ever trying to rip us off so any pricing is pretty genuine effort to be a fair compromise.

  8. I don't think we're in a hole yet but yes our style is impotent. Most of that comes back to our midfield which badly lacks pace and the only 2 wingers we have, Hastie and Seedorf, are not up to it. Polworth is ok up to a point but often disappears when the going gets tough, as he did today. That then leaves set pieces and long high balls in the thunderdome style (I love that word). We don't have the players to play thunderdome football and Polworth's set pieces aren't great. So, in short, changes in personnel are required. Whether thats possible is an entirely different matter.

  9. Correct … … he was forced to play Turnbull …… people on here were saying for weeks that he should’ve been playing but Robinson was pig headed and not playing him

  10. Robinson wont play any of the younger players for reasons known only to him.

  11. Just when you think things can't get any worse, someone suggests a Scottish League One level winger is the answer...

  12. I don't think he was meaning the fans. I think it was a reference to the media and Rangers villifying our style particularly Bowman and McHugh.

  13. Beside the fact that lamie is absolute guff, mcginley should have started to try and combat the threat of ohallorans pace.sometimes a manager just needs to match up and letting lamie, who looks like he is towing a caravan up against ohalloran was a mistake on the managers part today.

  14. Why not continue with O’Hara at centre half? Grimshaw in midfield?

  15. They should be well beyond that by now, those basics are taught at grassroots. These are pros we're talking about. If they can't do the basics like control and pass by now they shouldn't be playing the game, certainly not at this level anyway.

  16. I think the point being made is we don't really have much more chance of winning a cup than a league. Our deplorable record against the Old Firm doesn't even come into it when we can't beat teams like Ross County or St Johnstone at home. The standard outside the OF is atrocious. Terrible standard of football, terrible standard of professionalism, most games are won and lost on who can be least bothered from kick off. There are McDonalds kitchen staff with a hundred times the enthusiasm and will to succeed than our group of players and our group of players are pretty much representative of a bigger picture. Our whole game is just some dreary rota of win some, lose some mediocrity.

  17. Blame at the managers door. Bringing in Lamie was a terrible decision

  18. Liam Grimshaw the central midfielder converted to a right back subbed on after not playing for weeks at left back has done more in 2 minutes going forward than Lamie did all game. Also this keeper is a decent shot stopper but is murder with the ball at his feet.

  19. To be fair, White will get his head to the ball if we can deliver into the box.

  20. That goal had everything that we don't; pace, drive, determination and a dangerous ball into the box.

  21. What?! Who else is there to blame? Players are blameless because the manager picks them?

  22. Credit to Lamie. Up like a salmon to win that.
