  1. Yeah I actually think Bair done really well today and the same at Tynecastle the other week. He done well to set up Spittal against Hearts and he blazed over when it was easier to score. He had two chances today one just past the post and one that he should perhaps have buried close in had he got a better purchase on the shot, he's hardly the semi professional player an admin had spouted earlier in there countless war and peace style posts on the ins and outs thread.

  2. That’s true and I can’t fault his level of effort. He actually reminds me of Ryan Bowman in that he’s the type of forward who needs a goal scoring striker to play alongside in order to be effective. Here’s hoping Hearts slap him and St.Mirren right back into their box next Saturday.

  3. Obviously the tactics for St Midden today was to kick the s**t out of Lennon Miller. They had 17 fouls and I would guess as least 8 of them were on Miller. Then after they got the goal the time wasting started in earnest. How they got away with 3 points is a mystery.

  4. Just back in a feckin travesty of a result today, we played well and created enough chances to win 3 games, the one off the bar was unlucky but Shaw and Bair should both have scored with their chances, bad misses from both. As for St Mirren what a shower of dirty fouling bastards they are, 5 booked God knows how many fouls committed and they get lucky with their goal 2 shots on target and one goes in. Still 1st defeat of the season and still sitting 3rd its still a decent start.

  5. Are we just ignoring Biereth? Hardly SK's fault he is unavailable to us. His replacement Shaw is not long in the door and has had a couple of cameos from the bench. Bit early to be writing him off. Signing Obika is up for criticism based purely on his injury record and there hasnt been much from Wilkinson to give encouragement. But based on his previous career / stats, he wasnt disimilar to KVV. Bair is the one that everyone was thinking WTF, but honestly, he has been way better than I thought he was going to be. Nothing startling but a big honest laddie that will run about and try to create space for others to fill. Todays result isnt really a surprise given our injury woes and McGinns suspension. The fact that we were able to still put in a decent performance and just couldnt take our chances is what is frustrating. I think once everyone is back fit we will be in a strong position. Just need to try and grind out a few results until then. The next two weeks will be tough assignments.

  6. We played well enough today but if you can’t score goals then you don’t win football matches. Our forward options are absolute garbage.

  7. I don't understand what this MJC abuse is all about. Seems personal from what I have read and not solely based on his comments. I don't know him or anything about him other than what he posts on here, but for some reason he has got under a few folks skin. Is it because he gave his honest view regarding Hearts being a club with their own identity who have a large fan base? Or because in his opinion they can generate a great atmosphere in a stadium whose construction helps to make it an intimidating experience for visiting teams and fans? Or is it because he personally has not had any run ins with their fans? Or is it because he does not hate them like he is meant to? I think everything he said is accurate no matter how unpalatable some may find his honesty. And I have not read one response that provided any evidence he is wrong. He also commented that all Clubs have a small proportion of fans who can cause issues. That is also true and it is fact that Motherwell are no exception. Some on here appear to take exception to that home truth. And before I also get slaughtered, I thought our fans on Sunday were fantastic...before, during and after the game. As they have been all season at any game I have attended. I do get that MJC comes across as overly negative at times, especially when forecasting the result of an upcoming fixture. I actually find his predictions quite amusing and his about turn when he is proven entirely wrong even more so. Dare I say that might be just his way of having a wee laugh. I detest that bloody song Hearts fans sing. To many bad memories. So I disagree with him on that front. But it is part of their identity and it is miles better than anything we have produced. I certainly don't believe a rendition of 'Up The Well' on Saturday would inspire any of our players or encourage the home support to join in. And it certainly did not last long as part of the set pre match entertainment a few years ago. I also disagree with his opinion of International football but he is entitled to his view. I know a few folk who agree with him, for a number of reasons. I understood a Fan Forum was a place where fans could post their opinions on all things football. Mostly about their own club but also about football in general, including opposition Clubs. MJC's Hearts comments were made in the Hearts match day thread so I see nothing wrong with that. Am I wrong? Or is Steelmen Online a forum where being positive about any other Club leaves you open to abuse, no matter how well you back up those comments. Even from someone labelled as a Moderator? Similarly if you express any negativity regards Motherwell or our fans. Nobody is going to agree 100% with everything that is posted and that is fair enough and expected. Healthy in many ways. That should stimulate a reasoned debate and an interesting discussion but that is certainly not the case this time around. In my humble opinion some folk need to take a good long look at themselves and maybe even grow up a touch.

  8. I think we've only failed to score twice under SK and on both occasions its been against St Mirren. Lets hope that's as far as this statistic goes. Maybe just a coincidence.

  9. Your comment about Lennon Miller is way off the mark....2040 at the earliest!! 😜😜

  10. Lennon Miller is certainly showing composure beyond his years. He appears to be a wonderful prospect. Let's hope that he continues to develop and that Motherwell benefit from his contribution while we have him, and benefit from a large fee when he inevitably moves on to bigger things.

  11. Sounding a bit desperate their David He is doing not bad imo and better than some have said he would do. Lot of variables in football that some don't see and never will see.

  12. Especially being light up front at the moment looks like we need to work on corners and free kicks. We really didn’t cause any concern for St Midden today from set pieces.

  13. His knock downs, lay offs and general hold up play was excellent today. We played some tidy stuff but sadly we lacked the cutting edge required. Said before the game that the first goal would be critical. Robinson's teams are great at getting their noses in front then shutting up shop and defending for their lives. That said, the fact they've beaten us twice now this season without conceding is though to take.

  14. Just the usual Robinson scumbag tactics.

  15. Pipe down, you. He runs about a lot and tries hard. That's what really matters 😂

  16. St Mirren were well organised , fouled at every opportunity and got behind the ball to stop us in front of goal, they played well for 15 minutes in the second half and scored. We played nice and missed our chances. We still desreved at least a point tho. But starting to moan about the quality of signings again after our first league defeat is pretty pants after all we are still third.

  17. Maybe he should have signed more than attacking player who isn't utter shite?

  18. A tough watch and a non deserved defeat. We were the better team and played better football and had the majority of the game. Just missing a bit of creation and ended up with just hopeful crosses into the box which were food and drink to the st mirren defence. still sitting 3rd… on to the next game

  19. Had our chances. Played some good football but just not our day.

  20. Don’t deserve to be behind on the balance of play but the problem is we are absolutely toothless up front. Bair won’t do I’m afraid. A lot of effort but he just can’t be relied upon to lead the line for us.

  21. We've had some really nice inter play but missing the last killer pass. Thought Slattery had the chance to get in front of the defender and get clean through, but he decided to pass instead. Bair has found a motherwell player with the majority of his flicks, which is nice too. The whistle came at the right time, SOD was revving up to go through someone.

  22. Not to tempt fate here but we have been playing some good stuff, just not really looking like scoring but we still look more dangerous than st mirren. Odonnell playing well as is slattery.

  23. If I had witnessed a trainload of Motherwell fans march through Central Station at the tail end of last season singing about being Billy Boys up to their knees in f****n blood, I'd be worried we'd lost our identity, or had an unhealthy fascination with the Old Firm. But they weren't Motherwell fans. Funnily enough....

  24. For our younger members I was being a bit facetious. It's a harp back to that cup game many years ago when they claimed to have brought about 17,000 fans as Smiddy says.

  25. Hard lines today. I thought we played really well in spells and largely controlled the 2nd half. There’s few games we don’t score in but the absence of 3 strikers is obviously going to cost us as times. Hopefully Wilkinson is back by the start of the October. The bench was very inexperienced today and whilst I’m pleased to see the club significantly reduce our staff costs this summer, we could be in for a lean spell on the pitch at some point this season. Particularly if Spittal, Slattery and Miller run out of juice, which feels kinda inevitable. In the meantime though, we have a team that is good to watch and we have little to fear going to Ibrox next week. McGinn for Blaney should be the only change.
