  1. As I said about Bair in another thread, I want him to succeed. It would be mental for me, as a Motherwell fan, to not want him to become this incredible success story. Same with Kettlewell. I'm hoping with every fibre of my being that he can turn this around and make a success of it.

  2. He should've gone on trial for impersonating a footballer.

  3. He’s an arsehole, too smart for his own good.

  4. See I have never seen it like that because I saw hammell as a guy that inherited Alexander’s team, made 4 signings. Two had returned to their parent clubs injured by Nov and had at one point and I (quote his press conference) 13 first team players out injured he was a guy who desperately needed a window and players which he got eventually but didn’t get the time to spend playing them together. The players he signed that were a big reason for our up turn in fortunes were Casey/blaney and butcher at the back and the likes of Mandron /obika to play alongside van veen it was those same players that kettlewell inherited and got the benefit of. when you look at both managers there starting points were in stark contrast

  5. Yes, I would. I’ll only quote that part because the rest of your post is long, however it’s a good post which I won’t and indeed can’t really argue with. What I would say though is that in regards to Clarke at Killie and now McInnes, Clarke didn’t win a trophy with them and McInnes probably won’t either, but in Clarke’s case he instilled a winning mentality where they weren’t cowed or fearful of any side. That showed in their record against both OF clubs in the league during his tenure there. McInnes hasn’t taken them to the heights that Clarke did so far and it’s unlikely that he will but he’s already overseen an Old Firm double in just a few weeks this season. Again, could we have done that? I don’t think so.

  6. You just want us to aim a bit higher than simply finishing 11th every season and not exit every cup competition early? Ok. Since 2010 we've finished 2nd twice, 3rd twice and in the top 6 on 3 other occasions. You can roughly work out our European jaunts from that. I'd put our league finishes up against those of half the other teams in this league anytime. In the same period, we've reached 3 cup finals, one semi and 6 quarter finals. Obviously that's not good enough for you. You can ponder what we'd have done if we had been in the Championship all day long, but the point is, we haven't been for a ridiculously long time. Can big spenders like Hearts, Hibs or Dundee Utd say that? Talking of Utd, they did give Fletcher what he wanted and also shelled out enough to nick our top scorer. How'd that work out for them? As for our signings this season, that's down to very poor judgement, not a lack of ambition. Steve Clarke was clearly a guy on his way up when he went to Killie, so well done to them for that, but McInnes is past his best. Levein will probably get a debut 3 points tomorrow night, but that won't be anything to do with his managerial skills at this late stage. He started well with Hearts, failed in England, did well with Dundee Utd, failed with Scotland and failed on his return to Tynecastle. He has won absolutely nothing so far as a manager, and he'll win nowt in Perth either. My first Motherwell team was assembled with ambition and loads of dough. Loved them, great to watch, but won nothing, fell apart after 2 or 3 seasons and we ended up skint in the First Division. We appointed an ex Aberdeen and Scotland manager straight from a World Cup and had to bullet him before we could get back up. John Boyle's ambition took us into administration. I'm realistic about our place in Scottish football - it doesn' stop me hoping we can rise above that every season, but I remember we could just as easily fall below it.

  7. Yeah a 20 year old to be our entire goal threat and a 17 year old to carry our midfield. Unrealistic and unreasonable but that’s where we are thanks to dismal summer recruitment.

  8. When Alexander got job I also thought it was right decision and I do agree that their interview skills are a big factor. We all remember Alexander's interviews and I think that just put a lot of folk off him...me included. SK has media experience and you can see that. Getting Frail in as No.2 I thought was a good decision but yep it's hard to defend the signings though with Davor we haven't had proper chance to assess him yet. Getting rid of the attacking midfielders/ wingers means our options limited and strikers are amongst the poorest I have seen. And this is a lad that remembers Mark Caughey!! I really hope SK can turn things round but I will also put my hand up if things don't look like improving. COYW

  9. Be interesting to see what kind of bad runs both Ross Co and Livingston have had past few seasons. Both teams have stood by their managers. Current form is bad but Kettlewells record overall has been good so I still feel he is the right man to turn things round. When we were on good run KVV was never mentioned yet suddenly once on a bad run it's like Kettlewell isn't a good manager and KVV saved our full season .....which I am not denying but he is 1 player. I would say Casey and Butcher were just as vital. Anyway hopefully we can get a massive 3pts on Tuesday. COYW

  10. The fact we're putting all of our faith into a 20-year-old kid who's played around 20 career games in total gives me the fear.

  11. We're in an odd position with SK. If we brought in a mgr with a win 50% win percentage fans would be delighted. It's the feast/famine that is hard to take. Albeit no-one complained when we had the feast. Had there been an even spread of wins/defeats draws over the last 30 games, with a 50% win rate I reckon we'd all be reasonably satisfied with progress. It's the run of 7 games without a win that kills the mood and creates an intolerance. Coupled with recent games not creating any real chances. A similar famine killed off the likes of McCall, Robinson and to a lesser degree Alexander. All clubs good through good/bad spells, we could do with ours being less polarising. SK needs to turn things around and we do need to start winning games but give him the opportunity to do it.
