  1. That probably weren’t even at the game. There’s little more sanctimonious and mouthy than an armchair/firestick Motherwell fan trying to take the moral high ground with match going fans.

  2. Defeat to Aberdeen, 9 page thread. Four one win and guaranteed top league status, four pages. Says a lot about some of our support and forum members. Some people are only happy when they're ragin'. COYW.

  3. Can't complain or moan about the players or manager due to the sizeable win, so have to settle for the next best thing. Moan about the fans 😂

  4. Add to that no in game observations from some about how shite SOD is, how Spittal is not trying or that Kelly is the poorest goalie in the league. And grudging praise, if any comment, but always with some negative when we win. Oh, but the manager is still useless and has only a win% of minus 24. Must have been a few pre prepared after match rants deleted at 5pm yesterday. Well done to Kettlewell and the players for overcoming all the obstacles that were thrown their way this season. Scope to rebuild now hopefully.

  5. Well, County couldn’t beat them last week! Thought we had some excellent play in flashes

  6. I am not 100% sure exactly what side of the fence the original pie and Bovril poster is landing on but certainly the notion that it is not possible to realise emotions of anger and frustration out with 90 mins of a football match suggests a laziness of thought and a lack of willingness to take responsibility for our own lives. There are other ways to tackle these emotions that do not involve abusing other human beings at a football match. I don't doubt that many of us live our lives under significant stress. The figures for male suicide in particular is staggering and ofcourse football is a fantastic way to escape from the stresses and strains of our daily life. However football cannot be used as an excuse for intimidating and aggressive behaviour. I have watched Motherwell fans over the years hiding behind the claret and amber flag to excuse behaviours that would not be accepted in any other walk of life. What about the players suffering with mental illness? What about the steward that has dragged him/ herself to work after a family bereavement? What about the policeman/ policewoman gripped by anxiety? What about the football manager who's life is falling apart because he/ she is spending all their time trying to keep a job that is always only potentially a few weeks from ending? Do these people stop being human beings from 3pm till 445pm on a Saturday so that the rest of us can vent our frustration? Are we really that selfish?

  8. I've been to more games than you, travelled more miles to watch games than you (3000 this season alone) and, as a MFC TV subscriber, get to watch every second of every match home and away (and rewatch multiple times if the mood takes me). You have literally no idea how many times I've been to Fir Park this season, or what away games I've been to this year or any other year. So by those self-composed metrics, my opinion is much more valuable than yours and you need to get off your high horse until you've seen more matches live than me? Or perhaps trying to measure whether someone's opinion is worth more than others is pointless BS and we're better focusing on discussing footballing matters on a football discussion board and leaving the sanctimony to the OF fans.

  10. Best chant of the season goes to the young Livi team "you're nothing special, we get beat every week" 😀

  11. Because there's no point in offering critical analysis here after a positive result because it's generally met with bollocks like you've offered.

  12. Would fancy him to beat the league record but for the season he's gonna have to do pretty well. But who knows, maybe there is a last day of the season hat trick against St Johnstone in the future!

  13. There is no excuse at all for having these pyros and / or Fireworks at a football match someone is going to get badly injured one day. The SFA / SPFL have already fined clubs for using them etc so I won't be surprised if they do the same to Motherwell after yesterday. It's against the law to bring them into grounds , but we have the alleged stewards who do feck all to stop people bringing them into the stadium and then just stand and watch people setting them off and again do feck all, not to mention the police in the control room who no doubt have good CCTV coverage of it. Would people tolerate it if they were standing outside your house with a dozen or so lit flares etc no I think not so why should it be tolerated in a football ground.

  14. That is an interesting and surprising stat.... amazing that Biereth leaving and Obika being out all season has had such a positive impact and we have a very high sellable asset on our hands now.... hopefully continues progress next season ideally with us... Regarding next season worrying Halliday is signed on, a reasonable signing on paper but looks a few yards off Premiership pace, a drop down to Championship would suit him better I think.

  15. That's the problem the POTY event should be after the season has finished, the date was set with 4 games to go ffs its a nonsense.

  16. Our second biggest win of the season, which secured our top flight status for another year, so theres plenty to be positive about. Thoroughly deserved. At worst we'll finish 10th, and a few months ago many would have settled for that, including me. I thought yesterday's line up was a bit of an odd mixture in midfield and didn't know what to make of it. Maybe a one off for the Livingston game? It looked pretty positive on paper, albeit with only 1 striker, but the midfield looked lightweight without a clear defensive player and some mobility. Early on Livi caused us trouble on the break as they drove through our midfield. Having built up a clear lead we sat back a bit and they enjoyed plenty of possession, without troubling Kelly apart from cross balls/corners. We defended too deeply and it was inevitable they'd score at some point, given our default defensive frailties and their physical prowess. Some of the overelaborate faffing about at the back, usually involving Kelly, frustrated many. That said, he didn't do much wrong. Thems the negatives and there has to be some, given no performance is ever perfect. I suspect SK & SF will have identified far more negatives than I have. Plenty of positives though and they markedly outweighed the negatives above. We won 4-1, so SK's planning was proved right for the day. We played some very open entertaining football in spells and converted not a few chances. The defence did what it had to do in the main, with the exception of a few lapses. I thought Georgie Gent was a standout, with his pace and crossing. Lennon Miller was impressive too, although I'd like to see him play a bit further forward. Spittal was better than of late but Nicholson caught the eye and topped off a good showing with his spectacular goal that will be remembered by many for a very long time indeed. One for the history books. Up front the Bair played very well and was MOTM. His headed goal was a peach and his overhead effort really deserved better. Very pleasing to see Harry Paton take to the field. He has his faults, but we have missed his energy big time in midfield. Encouraging too, to see Luca Ross get a few minutes at the very end. All in all, an entertaining day for the fans with a practical outcome which will be recognised by the SPFL, in their decision to award us 3 points. PS: I think Theo Bair has now broken Louis Moult's season's best, of 15, by a goal.

  17. Enjoyed that. Nice to see the win has brought out the sanctimonious pricks as well.

  18. True, although its not peculiar to this forum. How many newspapers or TV news bulletins promote good news stories? It's human nature to wallow in negative stories. Plenty of talking points in yesterday's game.

  20. An enjoyable encounter which sealed our safety for yet another year. That will allow SK to take his squad planning a stage further.

  21. A good win without playing particularly well and some nice finishes. Gent has to be the best crossser of the ball we've had since Davie Cooper, if we had a Sutton type forward who thrives on crosses he would have got assists every game. Nicholson looked the sharpest he's been but it's hard to judge against Livi. Watching Halliday is painful, he was burst after 15 minutes and Livi players were dribbling round him like a traffic cone.
