  2. We control our destiny to get second place by winning games and maintaining better GD than rangers. We play hearts twice but trail by 7 points so we do need Hearts to drop an additional point outside of us beating them twice, in order to win the league. as demonstrated by today any team is capable of dropping points so the thought of Motherwell winning the league may be described as us being in dreamland but it certainly not the impossible dream. COYW!!!

  3. Most years we don't stop worrying about relegation until it's mathematically impossible. No harm in doing the same about the title.

  4. Its not faux outrage. I dont like to see our players try to con referees. Id rather win without all that shit. If you want to take a different position feel free, but dont try and call me out on it.

  5. Slattery made a twat of himself, and I’d expect JBA to deal with him in private, but the main story is how we absolutely horsed St Mirren.

  6. "We dont care, we won the cup" then 50 posts each about how much they care and how rattled they are. The slattery thing has given them something to clutch onto, but I hope theyre better at clutching than Shamal George.

  7. I think it was a bad brush on his eyelash….. as a contact lens wearer I’m forever having problems with them and I’ve lost count of the times I’ve fell and rolled around on the ground in Merry Street after a little gust of wind hits my eyes. I’m just hoping he’s fit enough for next Saturday as eyelashes are a big problem in football today…. I don’t think it’s mentioned enough 🤥

  8. Quite rightly so, I can’t stand that type of cheating and I’m not going to say different because he’s a Motherwell player- if anything it makes it worse.

  10. Slattery being called a c**t 15 times in 3 pages. Immediately springs to mind.

  11. Tommy McLean did a fantastic job at Fir Park. He was very much "of his time" and had to build his team over a period of several seasons as was the norm in those days. He built from the back and made us hard to beat and competitive which were the foundations of our success. I would contend that we improved as a team nearly every season and that has to be seen as a marked success for a club of our size. The fact that he didn't go on to bigger and better things after he left Fir Park can perhaps be put down to a number of factors. Times were changing and he was unwilling or unable to change his managerial style to accommodate these changes. He was also just a very "good fit" for Motherwell at that time. A true case of the right an being in the right place at the right time. I will always be grateful for his service to the club. As for now, one game at a time.

  12. I remember Craig Patersons career was finished because he asked for £50 a week more. I don’t think Tommy played him again. I always remember thinking he didn’t deserve that. ive no doubt there was penny pinching and tough budgets but he did manage to broker himself a good pay deal when he left us for hearts Anyway, he’ll still go down… even with me… as a real legend of the club.

  13. I'm biased, I knew Tomtom really well from working there, he was under extremely tight budgets, FP had been neglected/homered/patched with sellotape for years and required massive investment and running repairs, pennies mattered, the contracts of the players he 'fell out' with were based on 'we are cup winners' Tommy's answer was 'so?' Would have been interesting to see what he would have done with Phil's transfer had he stayed.

  15. Fortunately, most young folk don't give a flying fruitbat about history 🤣! I don't think Jens cares about previous PL seasons either and he reckons we can do this (if we get a fair shake from the officials, which I admit is a bit of a stretch: the likes of arrogant Beaton really get on my nazzums). Having seen the confidence and commitment on display at St Mirren, which I thought was a real banana skin of a fixture, I think the players BELIEVE too. Let's just enjoy the possibilities.......🙏🙏🙏

  16. Ah KVV the alleged wife beater i was wondering the other day where he had ended up. Brilliant business from us offloading him for a profit before he became toxic.

  17. I mean, we probably wont win the league, but if we cant dream about it and enjoy the trip under these circumstances, when can we?

  18. Nope, relax.....we have Welshy till end of season

  19. You can certainly tell Jens think we will win every game we play. Can't remember a 'Well manager with that much belief in his team.

  20. I was talking the other day about my memory of the last time Motherwell were in a genuine title challenge in Tommy McLean's last season and it all coming to an anticlimactic end with a loss to Dundee Utd at FP. I would hate for history to repeat itself. I wonder if the pressure will start to mount a little for the players as a title challenge becomes a possibility?

  24. I will take that as confirmation that we are better than Man City.

  25. On a different note, out of curiosity, I checked Man City's stats yesterday (as they are obviously a team that likes to play possession football). They made 466 passes in their home win, with 84.1% accuracy and 31 touches inside the opposition box. We made 703 passes with 92.3% accuracy and 51 touches inside the oppostion box. Obviously not like for like, but an interesting comparison all the same.

  26. We scored 5 at Inverness back in 2012 and at Ross county more recently.

  27. I find it hard to believe that having only lost 3 games this season (two in Glasgow) with a gd of 27, we are still 10 points behind a stuttering Hearts. They were able to grind out another win yesterday. That resilience will probably make the difference in the end. It's shows the value of wins over draws. I still believe that we are the best football team in this league and we have to believe that we can win this league. It is a huge task but the dream is still alive.

  28. The Midden forums truly were a joy to behold last night and P&B is something else. Nearly as entertaining as watching us. Wasn't sure what our reaction would be after the cup exit but the team very quickly put any negative notions to bed. A dominant and one sided game as you'll ever see and some sweet revenge for our no show in the semi..

  30. Unbelievable performance but if any negative it was Slattery for that red card, I don't like seeing that and I hope Jens had a word, didnt impact result

  32. I am unsure exactly when it happened, but at some stage in that match we must have earned the right to play football.

  33. The thing that annoys me most about the Champions League is teams that win their domestic title but have to enter the competition at qualifying rounds. Meanwhile, other teams that finish 2nd or 3rd enter later in the competition. I know the competition has been dead an buried as a proper Cup since the big teams ganged up and decided getting knocked out in a early round wasn't fair to them (or their bank balance), but they could at least have all the Champions qualify automatically and enter at the same stage. I used to really enjoy the European Cup when it was 2-leg straight knock out. as it felt like a genuine competition. Now it's just yet another league that's manufactured to ensure the big teams win and are further enriched. I barely watch any of the games these days.
