On the staduim front, should I be expecting a huge amount of work being done at Fir Park over the summer to bring the stadium (and particular the East Stand) back up to an acceptable standard, seeing as we're gonna be stuck in it for at least another 5 to 10 years?
There's no excuse for letting the place get any worse now Mr Boyle.

My girlfriend said exactly the same, she thinks it's hillarious, especially when you say it out loud!
I tried to explain how the name steelmen came about, but she just hears "steal men online"
My ex gave me a strange look when I used her computer to log in to this forum. I'd never really thought about it until then but the name is a bit dodgy!

trying to create an atmosphere in a stadium not even a quarter full is nye on impossible. It doesn't matter where they put folk.

Mark Hateley didn't really think his comments through did he.
If every ground with a poor playing surface was closed down due to health and safety fears then half the scottish league would collapse. And at amateur level Councils would refuse to allow anyone to play on their pitches for fear of being sued. We all know how H&E obsessed they are.
Well done McGee you just said what we were all thinking.

Where will we fit the band in?
I think that's horrendous, the current Scotland Rugby top, wjhich I believe is by Canterbury is bloody awful, there's more gray in it than there is blue.
The material and cut may make for good quality tops but the designs are god awful, what the fuck is that wavy line on the breast all about, and the big hoop that makes it look as if it's grinning at you.
Sorry, but I am certainly not impressed, in fact I'm totally horrified at the idea of Canterbury's designers working with our colours.
That's a rugby top. The canterbury football tops are nowt like that. Completey different material and designs.
Don't wory, I'm sure it will be minted.

That was a complete joke of an article. Hately was taking oot his perma tanned arse!
Talk about jumping on a bandwagon.

EBC or Eastend Baby Crew whatever the're called.
I can't help but be reminded of the the graffiti gangs of neds in my local scheme used to dub bus shelters with. They usually involved an acronym ending in YT for "Yound Team" of MC for "Mental Crew" or something equally as rediculous.
I just have visions of shell suit, sports sock wearing neds making a nuisance of themsleves when I hear that name.
But each to their own and all that. I must be gettin auld.
Keep it real.

Quick mock-up away top, but how good would it look.
[Removed]
I'd buy that right now!

No, but parents will be continually nagged by their kids to get the latest.
Which, as has been said before, they will do for anything from computer games to trainers!
Why should we turn turn what could be an extremely useful cash injection just so folk with kids don't have to say no to their weans?
-
I can't see the problem in changing strips every year? If you can't afford it don't buy it. No one is forcing you.
Some people are acting like they instantly can't wear the old one cos its not the most up to date. Your still gona be allowed into Fir Park with it on you kno!
This is the first time I've been genuinly excited about a new stip in years. Decent manufacturer and decent looking sponsor for the first time in donkeys!
The only thing is I bet it's pretty tight fitting! Gonna have to get this belly shifted for the start of next season!

His one man campaign to have Gretna banished from this Earth was disgracefull too. We're an easy target. Having said that we deserve any criticism we get regarding the pitch, it's nothing short of a disgrace.
-
The craigan decision was laughable but he got a few like that wrong in the game and some wenmt in our favour. Apart from that I can't think of anything he did wrong.
Althought my mate text me during the game and said he was giving them everything. Just show's how different peoples views can be.
-
If ever there was an example of our pitch costing us points it was today. McDonalds shot bobbled right over Smiths leg!
-
Bit negative mate.
I'm just sceptical about these sorts of ideas. They are all very noble and the cause is a good one, but these things have been mooted before and never got off the ground.
-
Good idea, or perhaps Corporate Hospitality at a selected game or several players taking some kids for a training session or names on a Club Sponsors Board within the 'Ark, etc., etc., ......... the possibilities are endless.
They are indeed, but are all as likely to come about as my suggestion.
-
Why don't we all donate a square metre of the grass in our back gardens and save them having to buy any new turf at all, then nip down the local gypo camp and see if they'll put it down for us?
Anything that avoids the club actually having to put their hands in their own pockets has to be worth a shout!

What's that I hear.... why it's a fat lady singing! It's over.

And where does your experience and expertise come from? Have you got UEFA Coaching Badges? A Football Scout for one of the best teams in the world? Or are you a fan that thinks he knows better?
I didn't know Gordan Strachan was a member of this forum!
-
To answer the original posters question no, not really! It would hamper the silky football I'm used to playing!
-
And Mark McGee is on record saying we have used the all weather pitch at Wishaw.
-
Mind this is our first visit to St Mirren Park. I dare say a few Well fans will be making the journey for that reason alone.
-
If a section of it failed that doesn't mean the system as a whole wasn't working (or didn't exist). Wasn't the pitch relaid last summer, and how do you know FOR A FACT what was and wasn't done at that time?
Still no evidence to support your case, just some people who'd rather assume the worst than stick to the facts. No-one on here actually knows the truth (or will admit it).
A threadbare pitch is hardly a suprise if its a new surface, has had little time to mature and is subject to the usual Scottish wather.
We didn't even relay the whole pitch, it was a total patch up job!
Edit: Just noticed this has already been noted!
-
I enjoyed about 20 minutes of the game the state of the park doesnt let us play the football we're capable of. At least we managed to grind out another result, how many is that unbeaten now?
Undefeated in 9 in all competitions!
-
It's not like we've got any choice though is it. We'vre put off investing in the pitch for long enough and look where it's got us! And the stands well most other teams in the SPL incur similar maintainance costs, it comes with having old stands.
As far as the move to a new stadium goes, I think it depends more on any potential partnership with North Lanarkshire Council rather than getting a buyer for Fir Park, which will take care of itself when the time comes.
Vs Kilmarnock

This has got home win written all over it im afraid. Seen it so many times before. Teams who need to end a run of bad results love coming up against us, especially when we need the win too. hope im wrong tho.
