  1. 2-0 it should have been more but the result was never in any doubt a great start to the league cup campaign. The opposition was poor but we looked comfortable the whole game, even though the stream was shocking. A good day at the office onwards and upwards.
  2. Elgin have a feckin cheek charging £10 for ppv like that, shite coverage no commentary, you get a better view with someone in the crowd livestreaming the game
  3. The Bois in block E obviously don't know that those small flags they keep waving are claret and Orange.
  4. I dont think Casey has been sitting on his butt on a sun lounger eating and drinking too much, he will have been training somewhere and would be ready to play if he comes back or moves to another club if thats the case.
  5. That's fair comment re signing the new contract and we would still be where we are now, but it still should have been offered, recognising potential in our Academy players and maximising the fees generated when they inevitably move on is something we have not been particularly good at over the years, except maybe Turnbull. It's something the club could improve on, but I get the impression that the current board are not as financially astute as they could be on matters like that.
  6. Just been listening to SK on the Scottish football podcast and he as good as said not offering Johnston a new contract before he was sent out on loan to Cove was a big mistake, by the previous management regime, before there was any interest in the player that would have protected the clubs investment. I hope the people running the club now are learning from all of these expensive mistakes we seem to keep making.
  7. Balmer is only 22 but been playing at a decent level since he was 16, good experience 115 appearances for Ballymena and Larne according to Wikipedia with 11 goals, so sounds like a good prospect. I hope we can get a deal done, if the rumours are true.
  8. Every player we sign is a gamble, this one did not work out, he contributed feck all and wont be missed, good that we have moved him on quickly.
  9. Or maybe the job and package on offer is not attractive enough for an experienced CEO, maybe that's how we ended up with Burrows he was already at the club and a nice cheap option. For me it's the governance of the club that's the problem, run by well meaning amateurs.
  10. Watched that today, the Aussies blew it and let England win by 3 wickets, thats them world beaters again.
  11. Agreed, he was as slow as a week in the jail he won't be missed
  12. The only "sure thing" we have is Steelboy the forum Troll ,trashing and writing off every new signing before they have kicked a ball.
  13. As I have said before, every striker we sign, with a couple of exceptions ie Skippy and Faddy the 2nd time round is a punt, Wilkinson will be no different. Time will tell if its a good or bad signing any previous stats are irrelevant, so let's wait and see how he performs before judging him.
  14. I would be happy with a top 6 finish as long as its not 6th, a shot at a European place would be nice.
  15. Correct, typo on my part, Motherwell scoring 6 goals put me off 😁
  16. Finished 6-0, Slattery(3) Ferrie(2) and Tierney (1)
  17. It was desperate wasn't it, but strangely in keeping with the quality of players being described. How sad do you need to be to make videos like that, I mean who the feck cares.
  18. I'd rather be away to Dundee 1st game than playing the ugly sisters home or away, good chance of a win and getting off to a good start. Let's be honest Dundee will be favourites for relegation or the playoffs, so for me it's a good start.
  19. That goes for me as well probably my favourite well goal ever
  20. People need a reality check when it comes to signings for Motherwell we are never going to sign an experienced proven goal scorer in his prime as they are rarely if never available and if they are we can't afford them. We will sign someone at the business end of the transfer window and take a punt on a free agent or somebody nobody else is in for as we did for Higdon, KVV, Tony Watt, etc etc. So why not Fletcher if he wants to come for what we are offering a proven goal scorer, good experience so nothing ventured nothing gained.
  21. Why? He's an experienced player who's played the vast majority of his career at a decent level, ok he's 36 but I reckon we could get another 2 years out of him if he stays fit, he a punt as are all the strikers we sign but he has at least some pedigree, which was more than KVV had when he arrived. If we can get him to sign on a wage that suits our budget, ie not a lot then it could be a good move. Some good experience up front to help Obika, Efford, possibly Shields if he stays
  22. Is it the the lad Fowler from Beith we are giving a trial to?
  23. Agree with this,as you say it's a better option than Mandron up front and if we can get a wage sorted to suit the budget he is worth a punt. Interest from us and S tMirren apparently https://insidefutbol.com/2023/06/27/st-mirren-and-motherwell-battle-for-steven-fletcher-after-dundee-united-exit/608408/
  24. RIP Craig, turned us into a very hard to beat team when he took over, will never forget the right hand he landed on the Odense coach that night at Fir park, never a man to be taken lightly
  25. Maybe yes, maybe no we all know we are not going to sign a striker with a great goal scoring record at a decent level as they are rarely available and if they are we cant afford them, so anybody we do bring in is a punt as it always is ie Higdon and KVV etc. So maybe the likes of Efford, Shields and Obika will come good after extended runs in the team, I'll give you Mandron he's as slow as a week in the jail. So if we can get an experienced striker in and get the balance right I think we will be OK, but as ever only time will tell if the gambles pay off.
