We could win the champions league and there would be empty seats. Yesterday was terrible, for sure, but there were 7 out who would normally start, for whatever reasons If smc can't Get it together then he's got to go, butpeoplr on here dismiss being best of the rest 3 seasons in a row too easily. It probably won't ever happen again, especially with the meager resources we have Give the guy a chance and if he can't work it out , then panic

On a different theme I don't get the hatred for dougie Imrie, looks a decent player and has a goal threat , which our midfield definitely don't have.Leitch and Imrie have got something and could prosper in a good side. Carswell is way too slow and It just hasn't happened for Lawson at fir park

John Lambie hasn't got a club and he lives fairly local

Of course when we were going well in the past 3 or 4 years the matches were all ticket! Lots of reasons for falling attendances :cost , tv footy, apathy, etc , dare say there are people scunnered by the European exit, I am one of them, but we just got to try and work our way out of this blip

Glad you are remaining calm and keeping things in perspective

Agree Have never come across this guy at FP, thankfully Noticed Jonathan Johennsen not too far away with his young son, God knows what he must have thought

It was incredible at times...the boy was literally sarcastically clapping the rest of the motherwell fans (I think) at one point and mumbling away to himself. I dont even think they were drunk! Don't know if it's true but I was told he works as a librarian and can't get talking all day .....hence the letting off steam on a Saturday.........also runs yoga/meditation classes......it's worked for him.....might just be a rumour though

You're right , was probably as incoherent and shambolic as the Home games against Celtic and Dundee Utd last year , when we got tanked 4 and 5 nil.And as you know we were nearly relegated last year too..........One year it will happen tho

Carswell had a good game??? I thought Law was the only one from the midfield who added much. Carswell battled away but is too slow and St Mirrem players were running away from him too often, Lasley didn't have a good game either In the circumstances it was a great 3 points and everyone would have taken a scrappy 1-0! At the start
-
Forgot that rebounds don't count , so it must have ended nil, nil,
-
Give the boy Law a chance, I think he has shown up quite well so far. Even tho it was Faddy you can't have someone on the wage bill just for their influence.the fact Stuart does or doesn't know Law's old man is immaterial, if he's good he's good, if not it's not been a good move

You want to attract not just the hardcore fan who goes hail, rain or shine, you want to get the ones who are swithering.Summer football must come, I feel-it's the entertainment industry after all that you pay money to attend, it's not meant to be an endurance contest
-
Take your point about the role he is playing but I have seen him in a few goal scoring positions like the one against Stjarnan and not do the businessJust cos you're a holding player doesn't mean you can't hit the target from bout 12 yardsLike you said he's not of the same calibre as guys mentioned so he needs to add more to his game, like the odd goal here and thereHope he bags a few and I will be chuffed
-
More or less agree with you.i have never been anything less about SMC and I like his attitude generally in victory and defeat. I think it's the potential to have made some money and another European game, which is frustrating people.Sure we can turn them around with good league and especially cup runs this season. Hope the players are fired up in light of what's happened

Is Carswell still going to be part of this midfield, I haven't seen him this year, but he doesn't offer enough in any of the midfield aspects IMO.His goal scoring record for a midfielder in SPL is very poor and when he does have a pop , the attempts are woeful.i know people will say he is a holding midfielder but Lasley kind of does that and even on a bad day Lasley is better. Hopefully he will make me eat my words and come up with 10 goals this year, I don't like having a go at a young player but we need something different from the midfield
-
He didn't sign some of tthe guys mentioned so that seems inaccurate, plus when you have no great budget, surely you should get the benefit of the doubt occasionally Fairness is a bit more subjective, I will give you that but I will always cut him some slack cos I reckon he has brought more success, relatively speaking ,than any other manager I remember in over 40 years watching them, it's a close thing between him and wee Tommy
-
You can see why guys like Stuart McCall don't do online football forums Unfair and inaccurate comments

Totally agree with that..still 15 points to play for and we are well placed. The thing that annoys me most is that we have lost 9 ponts from winning positions 7 against dross like Killie, Hibs and St Mirren, even the 2 agaist the Sheep should never have got away. So we should be home and dry by now Europe confirmed and a couple of points away from securing 2nd. But its the motherwell way, as it stands 4 points will see us improve on last season which given the changes is a fantastic effort by the team. We will be in Europe as i expect a Aberdeen v untd cup final..but can we finish 2nd yes we can.. Probably been covered elsewhere, if Aberdeen or Dundee Utd win cup and finish above us, does 4 th get into Europe

Is Lorraine Kelly a Dundee United fan? She doesn't promote herself enough , that's maybe why I didn't know, if only she got a bit more publicity and exposure

Motherwell V Inverness Ct 19/03/14 Wednesday
Shire Greats replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
Even in the limited game time jack Leitch has had ,he has looked more of a goal threat than Stuart Carswell, so I would be tempted to stick with him,.It's maybe ok saying that's not his game, but he should be chipping in from midfield with some goals, shots even -
Club could do without European football after last year What's the point of taking part in the league then?we are not going to win it.Europe is a great achievement for us and we see different teams, styles of football, with the right draw we might even gain financially too

Scottish football needs to market itself better and sell the product,New Year's Day is a traditional day for visiting, but that's just one of the factors which could have affected the attendanceGive people who are undecided next to no excuses , then it's time to give up tryingI am sure there could have been another 1000 on gate the other day if it had been played on 2nd jan, and just by chance the weather was better too
-
Only downside of yesterday was the crowd. Really really poor. If we want to keep Ainsworth, Anier etc then folk are going to have to turn up. The cup exit is in the past, the players and management have responded wonderfully, it's time for the fans to do their bit. I don't buy the "money, time of year, other options" excuses. Every other clubs fans are just the same yet we've probably got the worst crowds in the league. There was a crowd of approx 11000 for a Europa cup tie, mainly Well fans , a few years ago, so the potential is there. I couldn't go yesterday due to family commitments, so as long as we arrange games on New Years Day , play football in dead of winter, play 2 home games in a row,ask people to travel long distances on public holidays etc etcCredit to the people who showed up yesterday but nowadays Scottish football is going to have to sell itself better, the days of blind loyalty are probably in the past.

Going to duck for cover here, but ,Whilst ,I admit Lawson was poor , he does come looking for the ball.He seems really low on confidence , but still think there may be a player there. The rest of the starting midfield on Saturday just don't have a trick or any goal threat. We need players in the midfield who can make a difference.i genuinely hope they makes me eat my words .The fleeting glimpse of Jack Leitch on Saturday looked promising, but I could be clutching at strawsOur midfield should be chipping in with goals , even 5 or so goals each over the season would make a big difference.I don't recall any of them scoring so farAnyway, enjoy your Mondays.........
