  1. We were magnificent today especially in the second half. There was not a failure in the team and we could have won by more. Humphrey was awesome and if he can maintain the form he showed today he is destined for big things. Hopefully we can cement third by getting our first home win next week. I was treated to corporate hospitality today so was sat amomgst the jambos. They were all screaming for Rudi to appear yet 10 minutes after he came on they were giving him dogs abuse! Could hardly contain my laughter!!
  2. The referee that night was JPR Gordon (or something like that) who was charged with corruption later in his career. He must have been 50 yards away from the ball when fat boy dived and I remember him running the length of the pitch before ending up in our penalty box pointing to the spot. I have cried on very few occasions while watching Motherwell but don't mind admitting I was in tears that night.
  3. The East of Scotland branch will remember your chat up line for a long time - we heard it often enough in Iceland! I'm sure you will find at least one pretty young Norwegian girl who will fall for the offer of a free ride in your London cab!!
  4. No, I'm not moaning for the sake of it at all. The away strip is a white top with a Motherwell badge on it. Even the home top has some claret flashing under the arm - why not have something like this on the away top to make it unique to us? Previous white away tops all had some claret or amber in them and I was hoping the same would be true this time.
  5. My problem with the away top is what makes it unique to Motherwell FC? Apart from our badge there is nothing which distinguishes it from any other team who wear white. I like white but I was hoping for some claret and amber flashing somewhere to make it "ours." I appreciate there is a small claret border around the neck but I like to see strips that are clearly ours without having to read the badge. The home strip fits the bill so that will be the one for me.

    Hearts

Thought Steve Jennings ran the midfield ably assisted by Giles so Jenno gets my vote.
  7. Totally agree. We need The Duke for the likes of Dundee United and Hearts and I just hope he has not aggravated his injury that will keep him out for these games.
  8. I said 5th place at least. Nobody would be happier than me if we caught Hibs but given our level of performance in the last 2 games I'm less optimistic about 4th place than I was a few weeks ago.
  9. Sadly we have few players who are capable of performing well eack week. If we did they would be performing at a higher level than Motherwell. Take JoB for example. In recent weeks he has been tearing defences apart but against DundeeU and Falkirk it just wasn't happening for him. I'm sure he will recover his form soon because just as good runs don't last forever neither do bad runs. The fact we went 12 games unbeaten is remarkable but it was never going to last and the inevitable dip in form has happened. We just need to hope that we come out of it in time to cement 5th place at least and then look forward to Europe.
  10. Huge credit to Jim Gannon and the club for communicating to the fans via the official website and not through the press.
  11. I was in the POD yesterday also and was appalled to hear their chant about hating the Tartan Army. I expect some of them were actually part of the Tartan Army when we played Macedonia and Holland so why they sing songs against their own country is beyond me. At least it made a pleasant change before they went back to their usual sectarian outbursts!!
  12. I sit in the Main Stand and will now be subject to their vile chants and pondlife behaviour. Having said that I'm happy to have the Cooper back in our own hands, its just that I hate being so close to the great unwashed!
  13. Yes, that right, lets get rid of John Boyle and get a Vladimir Romanov type figure in! I work beside jambos and they are just waiting for the day when he walks out on Hearts and they are left with nothing. John Boyle put his own money into the club. We were left with no huge debt unlike other clubs. He had to put us into administration because the expenses were spiralling out of control thanks to a certain Mr Nevin. Don't forget he paid for Porter and Hughes out of his own pocket and no doubt has put his money into the club in other ways which we are unaware of. I really can't understand people who criticise John Boyle because he is a Motherwell supporter and has the best interest of the club at heart. If we were to mount a concentrated campaign to oust him god help us!
  14. A stain on his record! Are you serious? He came in and spent in excess of £7m of his own money. Anyone who does that should be forever praised and not criticised. He was prepared to invest his personal money in order to improve the team and the club as a whole. What more do you want?
  15. This is my worry too. I love the guys commitment and enthusiasm, a total contrast from Malpas who stood with his arms folded looking as though he was not interested. However given the diabolical standard of referees in the SPL I can see them reacting badly to Jims frustration at their poor decision making we see most weeks. The ref on Thursday night was the Spanish version of Iain Brines! I hope he calms down a little because we need Jim in the dugout and not in the stand.
  16. I still miss the cry of "Well Played Ports!" around Fir Park on a Saturday afternoon!
  17. Yes, very deep down Welldaft Mk1 but I kept it well hidden! I will take no consolation from walking out of the Parc Y Scarlets next Thursday if we draw 0-0 but we were the better team. They managed to put the ball in the net - we didn't. They will defend the same as they did on Thursday and invite us to come at them but we never do well against teams who sit in. Still, I hope you're right and we're off to Albania in the next round.
  18. McGarry WAS one of the worst last night. He made some decent runs first 20 minutes and then completely disappeared. This from a so called professional football player. He contributes nothing and he urgently needs to go along with Sutton. These guys are first team players but were completely out of their depth last night. Jim Gannon must be wondering what he has got himself involved with. He needs to build practically a new team as I see he has had a go at Craigan in the press this morning. I like Craigan but don't know how he has made a career out of not winning defensive headers in our penalty box. How I hope Gannon knows a commanding centre half who he can bring in and we might, just might, stop losing goals from crosses into our box.
  19. I've seen Motherwell win the Cup and now I've played at Fir Park - nothing will top that! It was a fantastic night with some real quality out there. A special mention to Ferguson at full back in the home team defence who was excellent and also to Welldaft Mk1 who was quality and took his goal really well. And to be on the same pitch as Stevie Kirk was a dream come true. Also thanks to ChasserB for making it all possible. These things take a lot or organising so well done and thanks for a fantastic night. Gebbie in the home defence.
  20. Hasn't Henry McLeish been appointed to look at the state of Scottish football and come up with a blueprint for change. Can't wait!!

    Vs Hearts

Intentional or not Craigan might have a broken jaw and if you can get away with saying sorry, didn't mean it then surely Kimpl should just say that every time he's about to get booked!

    Vs Hearts

From where I was sitting it was Nades elbow that caught Craigan, no doubt about it. It was an assault and Nade should have walked but I don't think the so called ref even spoke to him. We got the free kick so there must have been some foul play on Nades part. When these sort of challenges go unpunished I despair for scottish football with these referees totally out of ther depth.
  23. McGhee talked about us looking forward to playing on a decent surface - well if thats the best we can do on a good surface why bother working on the Fir Park pitch. Can't believe how bad we were tonight. Total lack of skill and craft. And for our so called international Captain to be playing offside 3 minutes to go is beyond belief. You would have thought a little bit if his experience would have told him to follow the player but no - he sticks his arm up and hopes for the best. And don't get me started on Clarkson. Gash all night and he gives the ball away in their penalty box when under no pressure. From that they play the ball up front, Craigan claims for a non existent offside and we're out the Cup. In future we should just avoid entering the Cup because we always give out supprters false hope that we might actually do something.
