  1. I wouldn't split McManus and Kennedy look like they have the makings of a solid partnership. I do agree reference Grimshaw I thought he wasn't any better than Law at right back.
  2. Yes I expect Paatelainen to be unveiled as United boss now, I agree that Motherwell being strongly linked with him forced United's hand to relieve McNamara of his duties earlier. I do however think the Motherwell job would be a more attractive job to a prospective manager the expectations at United are far higher.

Ainsworth for me, closely followed by Kennedy. I actually thought Lasley had a decent game in the first half when Grimshaw was still settling in at right back, Lasley was there every time to back him up and give him some support.
  4. The Mothewell boardroom seems a very strange set up at the moment. A Chairman not attending games and not being involved in any decisions before the manager is sacked.
  5. Shiels is another that talks a good game, I watched Ballymena United about 12 years ago when he took over there, it started reasonably well for him but before the season was finished he was arguing with authorities, players and even fans. At Morton he was a disaster too and was in charge when they got hammered by Accies when the players stopped playing for him.

I agree as the season progressed his team selections were becoming more bizarre as if he had no idea to stop the malaise and was just hoping a random team would click.
  7. If the new all singing scouting network is as good as has been claimed does it matter where and what background the new manager has?
  8. McGhee wouldn't be a bad shout but can't see him coming back due to the animosity when he left the last time.
  9. Mixu Paatelainen, would be a great choice. Knows the Scottish game has had reasonable success. Also with a recent knowledge of the Finnish players after his spell as their national manager. Still living in Scotland so maybe quite keen on the job.
  10. Peter Houston would be a decent candidate, I thought he did a decent job at United and he's worked well at Falkirk with a limited budget.

I don't think he will be sacked at least before Saturday. I know we all know it's only a matter of time I think the club will wait to see the outcome of the Partick game and possibly Dundee too. I wanted him to succeed (as I do with every Motherwell manager) but his talk and vision about our style of football seemed to be exactly what I wanted. However he's failed to deliver that and the team selections since Ross County game have been baffling. The sooner the inevitable happens then the club can sort out the mess and move up the table.
  12. Not blaming Ripley it is a team failing that we can't build up any possession without going backwards ultimately playing it back to the keeper who lumps it up the park in a random direction.
  13. In the 1st half we continually had control of the ball in Ross County half yet passed the ball backwards eventually Ripely would hammer an aimless long ball forward and lose possession happened time and time again. Also Ripley has the worst distribution that I've witnessed from a professional goalkeeper.
  14. I think we need to strengthen the side in the midfield and play narrow. Rippley Law. Kennedy. McManus. Chalmers. Grimshaw, Lasley, Taylor. McDonald Robinson. Moult Subs Twardzik Watt Hammell Ainsworth Thomas Johnson Leitch Clarkson

I think age is irrelevant, if the manager(I'm sure that's where Les Hutchison got the opinion from) feels that no one in the youth set up is ready to push for a place in the 1st team this year then you have to trust that judgement. If they are ready next year great, some players don't develop until they reach mid twenties.
  16. No was a decent player 1st time round, was very poor first half of last season. He's averaging 2 clubs a season that really should say it all.
  17. I can't see how you would feel it's "underwhelming" sounds exactly the type of player we are needing.
  18. Sunday night was shocking Motherwell/Killie game got about 45 secs, less than the two Championship games that had highlights included in the show.
  19. I've reckoned for a while that could be the case,it would make sense and why the club were willing to sign him up quickly at the start of the transfer window. If it is the case I don't think he will be earning much this season.
  20. Worse, in fact the worst performance I've seen Motherwell play for many a season. East Fife played the best most composed football, they passed the ball around and genuinely looked like a team. Motherwell on the other hand were a shambles couldn't string more than a couple of passes together, too many players resorted to sideways passing or even back to the keeper who just hoofs it aimlessly up the pitch. We didn't look or play like a team tonight very disappointing. Only when McDonald came on did we have any drive forward. Against Aberdeen we played as a team
  21. If we lose Tuesday he needs to do the right thing and quit. If there is anyone old enough to remember Roger Hynd as our manager, I'm starting to see a lot of similarities. I'm usually a happy clapper when it comes to Motherwell but to continually make the same mistakes is the issue that concerns me most.
  22. I imagine we will sit deeper and look to hit on the break, similar to the Ibrox setup, which in my opinion suits a 4231.
  23. Inverness also look considerably weaker, and will have the pressure of trying to repeat last seasons achievements.
  24. Celtic, Aberdeen, Hearts, Motherwell, St Johnstone Dundee, Ross County, Kilmarnock, Inverness, Patrick Thistle, Dundee United, Accuse.
  25. I expect Inverness to struggle this season, they have lost a few of their more influential players and they will now have the expectations from an outstanding season last year, wouldn't be surprised to see them in battle to avoid playoff spot at end of season. Apart from Celtic the difference between the rest of the league is minimal and anyone can beat anyone else. Saying that I expect Accies to be marooned at the bottom of league and Motherwell to finish mid table.
